Drinking strong beer only because it's strong is idiotic (unless you're an alcoholic). There's a point where it just doesn't taste good, though some darker beers can be pretty strong and still taste good. Better to pick beer by taste alone and drink more of them.
Some civil rights group was talking about suing gun manufacturers as a response to US gun violence (not sure if they did or not). Using the same logic shouldn't the RIAA be suing the artists?
You make a good point, especially since there are so many fake files out there. You could in theory get in trouble downloading and sharing a file you thought was something else. E.g. you're downloading into your share directory a file called "totally harmless non copyrighted home video.mpg" from sh33pn33dhugs2@kazaa.com, then it turns out it's really a copy of T3 and before you have time to verify the file (since the download finished while you were away) you are now spreading copyrighted material.

why? Would the world be better off if he kept the extra money stuffed in a mattress? The more he spends the better off a lot of different entrepreneurs and manufacturers will be.
I agree mouse gestures are damn useful, it's not like you have to be super coordinated to manage holding down a mouse button while simultaneously moving the mouse. I wish I could type with mouse gestures too, then I'd never have to put my beer down.
I thought VRML was the coolest, loved to zoom back and forth, panning left to right, then having links on the walls, that was the bomb. Do browsers still support that stuff?
OK, hardware detection was no problem. Both Knoppix/Debian and Red Hat 9 detected everything marvelously (the reason I tried linux to begin with was my PC crashed badly and wouldn't boot to Windows or DOS so I used the Knoppix bootable cd to backup my files). What I had difficulties doing was getting the networking sorted out, and getting the ftp and webservers configured correctly. To be perfectly honest I'm lazy and time was an issue. Actually, it took me longer to get the hardware configured correctly in Windows but once that got sorted the networking and server setup was a snap.
I'd bet that a huge majority of Slashdot readers use Windows as their primary OS. Both at home and work. I've tried a few different Linux distros at home, but keep coming back to Windows because I know how to do things in it and it's just easier. If time wasn't an issue I'd try harder to kick the habit. I do use Mozilla because I'm hooked on tabbed browsing and mouse gestures so give me a little credit.
Hmmm, maybe the govt can work out a new mandatory mail protocol that makes email messages much larger? Then it would be much harder for spammers to cram out as many messages. Call your Congressman, (they don't read email because of all the spam).
Would people buy that? How is it different from what that "Miss call me now woman" was doing?
Columbia is not Colombia.
does it have a Start button?
I save winter beers to boil my brats in.

lighten up, it's not like this article was posted under the "highly scientific food studies" topic?
I had a similar discussion with my daughter, to her defense she's only three.
if the movie is short enough it could be almost unlimited...and the more times you can watch it in 24 hours the faster the download

Just went to read a few of his last posts, wonderful stuff. Really funny.
if you check again does it say 100% slashdotted?
