Lately, MS has started (and Logitech is following) changing the F keys. Apparently, now, all the F keys have some sort of new default meaning to them (for example, new document, open, copy/paste, etc etc (I'm sure you can find a full list somewhere)). You want to use the standard F keys? There's an F-Lock button to use, similar to numlock. Probably shift will allow you to access the standard F functions, but I haven't tried one.
I personally don't like the idea, but they seem to be holding on to the ball with both hands and running.
This is all pure speculation related to an upcoming "megaton" announcement Nintendo is supposed to make in the near future. The speculation ranges from this story to Nintendo buying Campcom and Sega. It's all been a contest to see who can get their page linked the most with the most outrageous story, and it looks like this site won.
As for the actual announcement, please don't post any more news on it until you see it on nintendo.com
*Bootnote: In fact the task of talking into one's sleeve at a press conference only came 28 years after the Service was founded in 1865, to combat counterfeiting. Back then, there was no FBI, or equivalent federal agency, and the Presidential protection role was formalized in 1913.
Not for the show's content itself, but so SciFi will lose such a large portion of their viewer base that they will realize (shortly before going under, should all go well) that canning good shows is not a good idea.
ECE 291 (Assembly programming) @UIUC - Final consisted of one hour long multiple choice test (if you could call it a test, it was pathetically easy). Two hours consisted of a supervised lab period, about 20-30 students at a time, with a few small problems and all the tools a programmer would have (old notes, design specs, google, assembler to test for bugs, everything except your old code and talking to each other was allowed)
Debian is definately NOT a starter distro. I would personally go Mandrake, very clean install, can get into X with next to no work (which I'm sure is comforting to first timers). Mandrake is also more well-rounded on install features than RedHat is in my experience
I would recommend Mandrake to ANYONE who is just starting out
But we aren't talking about FTP servers in the dorms. We're talking about web sites, the freedom to see what we want to see. Oh yeah, I'm spending too much time playing Quake. 1) Quake is ancient now. 2) That would explain a 3.8 GPA, wouldn't it? But now you're assuming that it's the parents' concern. I know 3 people here that were under 18 when they first got here, and all 3 were 18 within 3 months of their arrival. 18=adult=rights.
Still, people seem to be missing the point. Colleges are NOT FREE. Internet access is NOT FREE. On top of tuition, I also pay a fee to get my T-1 in my dorm room. So quit saying it's their right because the state pays for everything. When the state pays for me to go to college, I'll quit bitching
I've noticed people saying "The university and the state have a right to monitor the activity since it's their network." I attend the University of Illinois. I pay a tuition. My tuition is not paid for. I pay thousands of dollars a year for tuition. After those thousands of dollars, I pay an extra fee to have a T-1 connection in my dorm room. I pay for at least some of this myself, not the state.
If it's so free, and it's all tax payer money, then why am I paying tuition? Why am I paying an extra fee on top of tuition to have this T-1 in my room? The taxpayers are not paying for my connection, I am. This is not high school. I am not paying $200 per semester to come here. I am paying several thousand dollars, so I have the right to see what I want on the connection I paid for. Bandwidth isn't cheap, I know, because I'm paying for it. A landlord has the right to make sure you are not violating the lease by trashing the apartment yes, but the landlord (as far as I know) does not have the right to change the definition of trashing during the duration of the lease. What if your landlord said one day "You can't use a TV because you might see something that I don't agree with?" Besides, downloading an extra 3 megs of MP3 is not trashing the connection. BTW, you know those date rape/emergency phones? EVERY COLLEGE CAMPUS HAS THOSE. I have been to four or five, including private colleges, and all have them. All I have ever heard of have them.

While I've never been there myself, one guy I know in Canberra says broadband is a joke. Expect to be sucking it on down through dialup.

I personally never tried it, but in my friend's LUG, not one person who tried installing it got it actually running.
