From my understanding the only people that make money on the sales of GF X cards is Nvidia, perhaps if they lowered the price of GPU's it could help companies stay afloat longer in these trying economic times. Besides considering most geeks are unemployed who do they think is going to buy a $400 vid card?
Do we really need to do this. Now that people understand Mac's better and Mac people understand PC's do what they do, do we need to draw that line and have the Mac drinking fountain and the PC drinking fountain all over again?
In the article he says that even after several sales of $300k he wanted to take in more sales before getting an office and hiring staff, he was able to make nice money and didnt believe in unnecessary expenses. Yet the next paragraph goes on to say he was able to secure $7.5 million in funding. Why the funding and investors, that I am sure have their $.02 to add, if you work on bare essentials and are making good money?
Well now that there is talk on Capitol Hill that Congress should pass a bill making upper manangement responsible in the wake of Enron, Andersen, MCI, and now Xerox. I think they should also throw something in there stating any software that is downloaded or packaged with the exchange of money then the company should be liable for any virus or spyware involved. Now if its given away for free and does not contain any fee for monthly service such as Open Source then they are absolved.
Well its more than that, Carmack needs this considering Romero fell flat on his face. Besides id makes loads of money off licensing their engine. So if they intend on continuing to make money from other mod creators and FPS in general they need this engine and rendering system to work out as much as the hype is building.
Got an email with that URL and thought it was spam. Now that I look at the site I still think it is lackluster. it looks like a lazy high school student site that is trying to make some extra dollars outside their blockbuster job.
Were there non-chinese citizens that died? Or is it that Beijing has a lot of U.S. citizens conducting business and touring? When did China ever care about copyright or even the death of their own?
Im guessing oil rich sheiks, some old money americans, royalty left in europe, and some newly discovered filthy rich people in red china (which is confusing for a communist country but oh well).
The article takes into account the progress of Xbox since last year to now. I too believed intially that Xbox is on its last legs, but after looking at what the Xbox team has in store for this year and what games they have worked with developers in producing Xbox may have a chance yet. Exclusive titles, online thing, getting Sony to blink first on the price war. Most importantly is the first point exclusive good titles, not some junk no one will buy but they realize the market and making the exclusive are the games people will flock to that happen to work into the Xbox Live.
I keep hearing many tech support position are being outsourced to India and recently colleagues of mine are telling me their newly college grad or even high school grad just landed this nice job as a Sys Admin or network admin for nice sized companies for like half the going rate. but since they are green they dont know any better and companies are thrilled.
I believe this is what it does do. Games have the OS enhancements on CD rather than hardware embedded. Not sure if it gets saved to HD or memory card or at all.
As far as running a version of Windows I think early on they nixed the idea. Finding out that Windows was too unstable and not able to boot in 11 seconds which consoles require. But it does contain DX 8 and nividia drivers to aid developers pump out games fast and easily.
The Xbox has power its just its installed base is small and since the console war is going on Im sure Sony and MS are twisting arms of developers to go exclusive. I hear in Japan Sony is their version of MS in the U.S.
It points the reader into thinking MS is losing their shirt. And as they may this will not cause their downfall or the failure of the Xbox. PS1, first variant, lost billions for 4 years before turning a profit and Sony is still in the console business with PS2. The article mentions Moore's law and how Sony's investments in its own plants and R&D help, it doesnt mention that Moore's law is not prejudice it works for MS too, Xbox uses Nvidia and Intel true but a Geforce 2 goes up in price over time as the Geforce 4 is out? No it drops just as quickly as new R&D pushes GF2 down, if anyone Sony should be afraid since MS doesnt have to do any R&D. And Nintedo's Gamecube uses ATI, so its in the same boat as Xbox not Sony. Only thing is Nintendo is the MS of consoles they develop their own software and dont share with 3rd parties, only recently have they decided to change their tune because of the new Xbox competition.
I personally own PS2 and Gamecube. I dont love Xbox but I hate when dumbass reporters misinform their readers.
since day one M$ has said they want authentication from their servers first with developers going crazy over that decision.
Another nail in the XBox coffin, is that they did not want their online games being compatible with PC's for fear that the PCside may infect the Xbox with a virus.
Maybe they should hook up with him, I know he has been workign on shooting himself into space for some time. Perhaps the technology swap could help one another fullfill their goals.
I have worked with MacOS since days of 7 and my favorite has got to be 8 not counting X. 9 always gave me trouble if it wasnt programs crashing it was the crash at startup forcing a restart. I know extensions were at stake, but sometimes one doesnt have time to go through an extension conflict. Hated 9 you will not be missed.
Than anything that happened during the.com phase? Its just easier to blame one ex-con guy instead of small bands of Ivy League graduates who have rich mommy and daddy or politician parents. Just a smaller scale Enron.
While I admit that Exchange is the biggest piece of junk, many big businesses use it and I have had to administer several servers running it in the past.
So far from Evolution I have seen it looks and gets the basic functionality of Outlook, but falls short of being a Outlook replacement. There are no permissions, offline folders, group collaboration on Linux side, importing Outlook PST's, and biggest of all Exchange replacement.
It still relies on Exchange to work as a collaboration package. So one still needs to run the dreaded and buggy Exchange server with connector. True that you cant catch the nasty worms and viruses on a Linux box but it still can be exploited with an Exchange server.
I think the reason they havent been sued is didnt M$ hire Miguel to do some work on.net or Passport? I remember some time back he aided M$ on some next big thing according to blue M.
Microsoft is learning you cant kill a movement like a small company, but conversion , assimilation, or cold hard cash works much better.
What it boils down to is responsibility. There are companies with CEO's that are not publicly traded and they use that corp to screw people. Whereas other business owners are actually decent and care about their employees. Sure they can trade in their car for the latest Mercedes S 500 but instead they give raises, seasonal parties, and help out their employees when crises strikes, this used to be the case but now its all about greed and take no prisoners.
You just described Los Angeles or possibly any big city. Houses in decent neighborhoods run $300k-1Mill. Affordable houses under $300k are in places you see in movies like Robocop. Whenever a meager job like secretary to IT dept, you get a flood of resumes.
Although one difference is many companies are not hiring at all but choosing to go the route of low wage contract programming, IT, etc... This way its cheaper and benefits dont need to be worried about.
The only people that are surviving are people that have jobs in Education, medical, etc...
Well all I can say is it aint all that bad. Considering these days some would wish they could earn $60k/year to take that cut those people dont have it that bad. Unfortunately for companies that realize there is a low demand for IT or flood of IT people they are just getting away with what they can. Taking a cut is always better than seeing a couple people laid off to compensate.
When it comes to stuff like open source, aside from support, do people really care if its beta, release candidate, or final release? Unless its extra unstable in alpha form or serious security hole most people will run betas and be happy. Heck M$ does it all the time and makes money on each minor revision.
Does this mean perhaps after a few years I can take my PC to the supermarket and put it into those huge machines that determine if you are recycling glass, aluminum, plastic, or PC?

No screenshots, no videos, just a little blurb.

I havent got all the way through GTA3... Espresso 2 Go is frustrating.

Thats gotta hurt us all more than anything.

Same story different scale.
Dont they cover like 3 states that arent even the big city states? Verizon hasnt been the leader in customer service or service period.
