    Most professional and many talented backyard mechanics can build a car out of parts laying around and a machine shop. Designing a car that maximizes profit, meets government regulation and is desirable to the people buying them requires a team of engineers.

    I think much of the software in use today is kind of equivalent to a mad-max vehicle.

    Most plastics leach curing agents, plasticizers and monomers after they are manufactured. None of this is surprising.

    I wouldn't be surprised if even food grade plastics would effect fish embryos. Things like traces of soap, which is completely safe for humans readily effect fish.

  4. Couldn't the voltage drop be calculated and an unsafe draw detected? Seems like a better system to me then trusting a resistor which could be wrong or a cable that doesn't meet the current spec it is advertised for.

    Having a cable format dependent on a resistor in the cable sounds like a poor design to me.
    ++ since it could damage hardware.

    Yes, it is only six times faster- it has probably saturated the PCIe interface. Intel has already said as such that this would be an issue and that a new interface will be needed to accommodate the rams capabilities.

    You totally missed his point. There was already a decent market for mp3 players, tablets and smartphones when they created those offerings.

    ..and there are some that don't. It runs in our family and I had a cousin that was un-diagnosed, she grew up on a farm which probably limited her opportunities to socialize.
    She was quite the loner and ended up committing suicide.

    So how much do people expend on cold weather in temperate regions? I doubt it's 25% but it's not trivial. Think about seasonal clothing, transportation, heating and heating infrastructure, insulation, snow removal etc.....

    You don't know many autistic people. They don't particularly care about people's feelings, or political correctness.

  14. I started playing a few years ago (42) when my son was beginning suzuki and decided to keep it up. After a while my teacher convinced me to switch to viola so I have been doing that.
    It's not easy, but that's not why I am doing it. We have some volunteer orchestras in my area and my goal is to get good enough to play in one of them.

    The closest analogy I can think of is legalese that you will find in official documents such as contracts or court documents.

    The reason it has a 'flavor' is to differentiate them from common language. This is extremely important because common language varies widely, from Appalachia, West Coast, Deep South, East Coast, UK English and so on. Having super-set (legalese) helps to differentiate and disambiguate from common language.

    This applies in the same way to formal science journal articles.

    That's not true. Sugar was extremely rare into Victorian times when they started growing sugar beets.

    Hot spots are worse in conventional systems.. Unless you carefully design the boards you will have areas with no flow that will overheat. Any hot spot in this system will immediately vaporize the liquid and refresh with cooler fluid. Also simplicity- no pumps or hoses to worry about and you could easily have a failsafe that shuts everything down if the fluid evaporates past a certain level.

    This could explain the Flynn effect, which still exists when controlling for nutrition. I've often thought this is why problems can persist in children of extreme poverty and can persist over generations.

    No. Illegal contracts are not enforceable. If I sign a contract saying I will work for less than minimum wage my employer is still liable for minimum wage laws. It doesn't matter in this case that you would be working for free.
