I have to agree. I just don't see this taking off. Simply email or call the companies that are advertising and complain. Tell them that you will never purchase their products because of the ads they run on the net.
If any of the sites that I have bookmarked and visit on a regular basis run these ads, I'll simply remove them from my bookmarks. Simple as that. I don't pay a lot of money every month for a broadband connection to watch commercials. If these sites are not able to run a site without these ads, then they shouldn't have a web presence. Period!
Do you acutually know why Matt was "kicked off" the FreeBSD team? If you don't know, then keep you're mouth shut. They wouldn't have let him go without a good reason.

This also proves that even the most unstable FreeBSD is more stable than most other OS's.
I agree. I've wasted money on many versions of SuSE and never was really happy. The X11 config was the buggiest I've ever seen (and I have very standard hardware). Hopefully, Novell will do something good with it. SuSE sure hasn't.......
That's your opinion. Not the opinion of many others. I ran it for about a month and had nothing but problems. It's rather unstable and the portage system doesn't always work the way it's advertised.
If you decide to use it, well, then, good luck......
I don't understand how you can say that Linux has a ways to go in the consumer electronics field? In your long post, you mentioned many companies that are basing their products off of Linux but simply didn't advertise the fact. Just because a company doesn't announce that they are using Linux doesn't mean Linux has a long way to go.
How is this a worthless article? We need to do something about this! It's people like you who are worthless. Do you also think it's okay to throw a cigarette butt out your car window?????
God, could everyone please remember that this is testing code???!!!??? This is not the final product!!! You can't honestly tell me that there are never problems with Linux kernels that are in testing stages, can you? Listen, I also use Linux but I'm not all high and mighty thinking that there are never issues.....
Who cares?
I wish the US and Europe would work together on all of this. Imagine what we could accomplish if we one would stop trying to outdo the other?
Wow, that looks fake......
Very good points. I'm sick of pro sports pre-empting all of the good shows. Personally, I can't stand pro sports.
I agree. Out of all of them, I felt Enterprise to be the best. They have an awesome story going right now. Shame on UPN.

What????? You're kidding, right? Have you even read the BSD license? There's a lot to be excited about!
Yeah, I agree. I'm sick of MS acting like they're doing the consumer a favor.
Everyone needs to remember that the BSD's aren't huge corporations. I think $100 is very fair.
Yes, you're correct. To us "Geeks" and "Techies", it's a deamon. To others, that know nothing of BSD, it's a devil.

I agree completely! Now that slapt-get and swaret are working well, I don't know why you would want to use anything else....... :)

I'm one of the many that have decided to use a cell phone only and I could care less about this.

Uh, excuse me, Slashdot......how is this funny? :-(
I agree that we need to end our reliance on oil but come on!!! Birds are dying! Rare birds, at that!
Nice language, by the way....idiot!
Perfect! Couldn't have said it any better myself!
Actually, you may want to research before you post.....
This is ESA not NASA.
Exactly! We (nations around the world) need to work together on this and stop all of the stupid fighting.
