A security audit at the level of a ISO/QS quality registrar would open quite a few eyes. There needs to be a worldwide security standard such that any company hosting private information can voluntarily submit to for a rigorous audit that not only tests their security at all levels but makes sure that systems are in place to keep it up to date. Sure, building up a secure system to be able to pass the audit, and the actually going through the multi-day audit takes time and deep five figures of cash. Private industry needs to jump in and set living standards that have to be met. Companies that pass the audits can advertise that they have state of the art security online. Until this becomes the norm, expect corporations to continue to look at security as a cost and not a commercial advantage.

This makes no sense. If a chef can make every plate look identical and weight exactly the same based on precise quality control specifications, then they can claim copyright by filing a picture of their food and technical specs to obtain a legal copyright. It's just stupid otherwise. Cooking is an art, not a science. A "pinch" is not a technically precise measurement.

Typically we now see 20 minutes of ads for every 40 minutes of program. So, 1/3 of the time is commercials. Since commercials suck, It's little wonder that cable TV is shrinking its customer base. You can get the same crap, with fewer channels, over the air with the same 20 minutes of commercials per hour, and plenty of digital sub-channels showing old programs. Why not cut the cord when the cord keeps getting more expensive and the quality is not any better?

A $20 monthly connection fee? Sounds like Verizon has a long way to go to match Straight Talk (CDMA where I live uses Verizon) at $45 month for 5-GB of full speed data, before dropping the speed. Verizon is hoping people don't notice the $20 monthly connection fee which is added to the monthly base charge, which makes it still to expensive for me with too little data. Also, $15 per month for each GB of data over the cap is quite excessive. No thanks.

You are way off base. MS stated that the upgrade is free for life of the PC it was installed on. The catch is that MS will try to capitalize on in-app purchases, where they make 30% and their push to be the one stop shop for even desktop software. If anyone decided to buy $1000 worth of programs from the MS store, MS;s cut is $300, plus any add-on sales attached to the program or app. That's their hope anyway. So, no you will not have to pay for the "steaming pile that is Windows 10". Just be smart and unpiin all their start menu tiles along with the store and treat it like an older version of Windows, after shutting off the couple dozen settings that let MS get your data. Here are the settings that I've posted elsewhere on how to turn off the ridiculous shared Windows Updates to keep MS from using your Internet bandwidth. 1. Open All Settings 2. Click on Update and security 3. In the left column click on Windows Update 4. On the right side click on the text link Advanced Options 5. Around the middle of the window, click on the text link Choose how updates are delivered. 6. Click on PC's on my local network. This disables send updates from your PC to random users on the Internet. 7. Close the Window. Check the setting monthly to make sure an update didn't change it back, until you have confidence that your setting sticks.
