  1. John Henry on The Rise of Machine-Written Journalism · · Score: 2, Insightful

Another "machines will take my job" story. This is as old as technology itself.

As with all other technologies, the future will be vastly different than what we envision.

same thing with Apple. when people got viruses pirating some Mac software it was their fault since p2p is dangerous. when people do the same thing on Windows it means MS sucks

You know what else is dangerous? Entering your Administrator password when installing pirated software downloaded through p2p.

    Apple can't fix stupid.

So I want to play games, so I have to exercise. Exercise releases chemicals causing pleasure in my brain.

Eventually, I enjoy the exercise more than video games. I stop buying new games, and EA/Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo go out of business, and thousands of people lose their jobs.

    Thanks a LOT, Microsoft!!

And if they can, AT&T will just say "I Told you So", and continue their plans to gouge iPhone users anyways.

The only way this can go well for AT&T customers is if a large, well-documented group gets together, attempts a DDOS, and fails. Then what can AT&T say? "Well it's not THOSE iPhone users, it's the ones who live in their parents' basements..."

  7. Cross Ownership on eBay vs. Craigslist Courtroom Fisticuffs Start Today · · Score: 3, Interesting

It always struck me as a little weird that major competitors should have a seat on the board.

It would be like Microsoft having a board seat at Apple. Or Google at Microsoft. It just doesn't happen.

What made eBay and Craigslist different? Or think they were different?

If this is true, why do we measure teachers' effectiveness based on the students' test scores? If they fail, it's their own fault since they're responsible for their own learning.

I'm not being sarcastic, I'm serious. We treat students as responsible for their own learning, yet punish teachers if they don't. WTF?
