I guess they are expecting that you have to be old enough to remeber the show to have money to buy their products. Has anybody in the 20-something age group even seen that show?
Why does this guy even have a job predicting tech trends? If I could fill one bucket with everything Dvorak gets right and the other bucket with shit, I can guarantee you I know which bucket will fill up first.
This story has been on Slashdot for nearly three hours without modification. Slashdot readers began picking this story appart only minutes after it was posted. If Scuttlemonkey could post an update to the MST3K story, he could have followed up on this one by now.
Certainly a few people will read about this product on the front page and jump at a good deal (and they saw it on the front page of./). Slashdot posted this story without checking the facts, and I would ask an attorney if I got rooked what their liability is for presenting this story as fact.
Glad I read the comments. My kneejerk reaction was to go to the site and read the specs. For a moment I thought "it's on Slashdot so it's OK." I was about to call my wife and tell her she can have the laptop she wanted, and I hit the back button on my browser and started reading all the posts about this being a scam.
So the readers of Slashdot, often characterized as the great unwashed, saved me from a scam brought to me by the editors of Slashdot.
Like Electra. Once Hulk is done racking up a scorecard, I'me sure we will find out mst of the people who acted so out of character in Civil War were Skrull.
Anybody who thinks Steve Rodgers isn't going to return withing 14 months doesn't know comics.
Prior to the mid 90's I never knew anybody with corn or gluten allergies. I now have several family members and friends on special diets to avoid corn or gluten.
I have a niece who developed a corn allergy following the 'accidental' introduction of Starlink (GM) corn into consumer foods, most notably shells used briefly at Taco Bell in 2000.
I have a difficult time believing that feeding GM corn to an animal is OK, but feed the same corn to a human and that's dangerous. HOWEVER it's OK for that same peorson to eat that very animal without fear of developing a food allergy. Excuse the sound of my bullshit meter going off.
The point of New Caprica is these people CANNOT stop running so long as there is a threat from the cylons. If they found Earth tomorrow, they can't land or they face a repeat of what happened of New Caprica.
Besides, the escape from New Caprica has been one of the highlights of the entire series.

Apple has been patenting the hell out of the multitouch UI concept, and I can't imagine this is going to slip by Steve Jobs without a fight. Apple purchased FingerWorks and owns most of the concepts shown in that video.
Hidden in the recent demo for the Iphone was a glimpse of Apple's multitouch technology. If you knew where to look, it was hidden in plain site during the demo of the photo album and rolodex functions.

I love the new BSG, but I want to see them end strong. The second half of season 3 had too much filler. I want to see them focus on their main story arch and go out on a high note.
By contrast, one of my other favorite shows used to be The Sopranos, a show that has floundered for the past two years. They seem to be ending with their weekest run of shows to date. It will be hard for me to remember that show as fondly as I would like.
Rome was a great show that didn't run long enough, but there was no filler. A damn good series from start to end.

Speaking of stupidity, you speak of that which you do not know...... the Blender GUI has been seperated from the program's core and a major goal is within the next one or two major realeases we will have a new front end.
Even with the program as is, the user interface have taken leaps forward in re-organization of it's features.
The thing that many people become frustrated with Blender is going to be that 3D mesh creation is a skill
There are many people who download Blender, Add a Sphere, hit Render and then post to the nearest 3d Site "d00d 1M a 3D l33t!!!"
It's never going to be that easy. Not Blender. Not 3DS Max. Not Maya.
I don't know James Long, Ph.D, but he seems to have an ax to grind. Most people who met Hedy Lamarr would verify she was extremely intelligent. Her husband in the early 30's, Fritz Mandal, was an engineer and producer of aircraft, artilery, and early weapons guidance. It would appear Hedy learned a thing or two during their time together.
There are many accounts of Lamarr explaining the process by which she and George Antheil invented the concept of frequency hopping. At the outbreak of WWII Hedy had in idea for a torpedo guidance system. Antheil suggested a way to sync the necessary systems together using a roll of punched paper (as in a player piano)
Just because the officers at SCO haven't added this fine reading to their Amazon wish lists doesn't mean they wouldn't appreciate a few thousand copies!!!
...therefore it's a huge waste of time for me to even worry about it - although if I were a gambling man, I'd bet you would find Milliways there.

The message board in yahoo financials for SCO has some regulars that IMHO seem like they would be people of interest to the SEC.

Three more who created TRON. John Knoll never worked for any of them.
How did Knoll or the author manage to snub Information International Inc. (aka Triple-I) , the very people who created the graphics for TRON?
Most people will read this story and think ILM did the graphics for TRON.
Shame on you, Computerworld and John Knoll!
