Gee she's done alot for working women, layed them off by the thousands at HP and Compaq, not mention the thousands of contractors that took it up the hiney in houston (at least 30% of whom were working women). On top of that all she has to show for it is a muddled and confusing product line, and she's running long standing customers off in droves (like the co. I work for) and not adding any new ones. At this rate she'll singlehandedly drive HP/CQ into the ground, quite an accomplishment for the little lady.
I think giving women an equal chance is great, but if they are going to do all the same bone headed, greedy crap that men do why bother?
Depends on where your at. In the North Yes maybe more like 8 months in northern parts of Minnesota, NY, North Dakota etc.....
In the southern US there is alomst no winter, Souther CA, Sourthern NM, AZ TX, FL there is very little winter. We lived in Houston for 3 or 4 years and it would drop into the 40's for six weeks, everyone ran around in heavy coats, kind of amusing. Some of my familys in Southern CA, rarely gets below 60.
-USA is not a socialist welfare state with 60% income tax.
It's more like average tax 45% not 60%.
You have to make ALOT of money to pay 60% income taxes. for most folks its about 30%.
Don't know everyone's situation is different. Several of my friends are lawyers, they all told me to copyright my own stuff, before submitting it to a publisher, so I have always done that. Now I have to sign something allowing the publisher to basically do whatever they want in regards to publishing, but I retain the copyrights. I have had a couple of publishing houses (who will remain un-named) refuse to deal with me because I own the copyright, but I would rather do it my way.
How can they claim complete ownership of something that they are paying another company royalties on??? I'm no lawyer, but that implies Novell owns the copyrights.
I'm no lawyer, but I am an author and my publishers have to pay me royalties BECAUSE I OWN THE COPYRIGHTS TO MY WORKS. The same would apply here. So SCO doesn't even hold the copyrights, what a twisted web Dark weaves.
By reading all the posts we are talking somewhere between 3 and 10 million dollars. Thats really NOT a crap load of money in todays laywer-controlled system. NOW if they stary throwing numbers like 20 - 30 million$ around, it's time to be concerned about SCO.
3-10 mill is just a pittiance to make thier PR people happy.
After buy my POS volvo I'd would'nt be bragging about how advanced the swede's are. It isn't even as good as Honda's were 10 years ago. It's also about as ergonomic as a brick.
the enemy of my enemy is usually the one that will kick my a** once our common enemy is gone.
Fortuantely it will take a while for M$ to go away so we have 20 years or so before IBM and Community square off against each other, ala US vs USSR once the Nazi's fell.
If anything Linux Deployments are increasing. We are re-writing out counter application which is all java running on a cluster of Red Hat boxes. As we move forward even more linux servers will be added. Plus we have a major relationship with IBM and they are telling us that ALL thier machines will be Linux in a couple of years, little or no AIX.
Though we are a whole owned subsidary of Ford Motor Company so, to Sue us you have to sue Ford.
In another court action today, the US District Court in Austin handed down an injunction against MS for using the code name longhorn, requested by the University of Texas. The school nickname is the longhorns and the schools mascot is a drugged neutered bull named Bevo, who wanders aimlessly about and craps all day.
UT Students were getting confused since both MS longhorn and Bevo's BM are both Stinking piles of crap. Further more UT football players, trained to lay down and play dead at the site of BEVO (witness the Arkansas and OU games) were now getting confused and doing the same thing in their computer lab. This has resulted in half the team being ineligilble for the Poulan-weedeater-holiday-trailmix bowl.
UT coach Mack "Roscoe P. Coltrane" brown had the following statement:
"IIII Know ol Bill Gates really did'nt mean any harm to us, but since the wind kept shifting directions the players were confused which crap there were smelling longhorn crap, Bevo crap or my crap". "I really thought we could keep them focused on thier school work, as soon as that Windows Start up screen came on, there they went, locked up, feel straight over, with that same glassy eyed look they get in the cotton bowl every year."
Most members of the press are as interested in the truth as Darl McBride is, and they are equally compentent in technology matters.
Face it a bunch of angry hackers attacking SCO makes a better story than the truth. Especailly using the 10 word headline format that is so prevelant in the US.
'Which was dumb of him, since we later found out that a statewide recount would have given Gore the election. Not that it mattered, since the supreme court stepped into something that was none of their business and handed Bush the election..'
Don't know what time-space continuium you live in, but a couple liberal Fla. newspapers paid for a recount of all COUNTABLE BALLOTS ( note this different than democrats who considered any ballot with conflicting votes cast to be obviously in favor of GORE) showed that Bush still would've won by a thousand or so votes.
I don't really care for Bush or GOP, I view both parties as badly flawed, but the truth is the truth. For whatever it's worth Bush's tax cuts seem to be fueling the economy and I have a job now because of that, I don't know that Gore would've done any better.
"Bah, bunch of losers, and I'm damned if I can understand why the VC and market analyst people cannot see that. There must be some kind of a soundproof barrier between reality and the guys bidding this crap on the marketplace floor..."
Look at the whole dotbomb crap, there were VC's everywhere that dumping Millions if not Billions into companies that did'nt even have a formal business plan.
Just because someone has some VC money, it does not grant them any amount of intelligence. In fact it appears to do quite the opposite.
Keep suing people till someone decides to buy them and put them out of our misery?? If IBM won't buy, I bet google will fight them in court as well. Most of these companies have the cash for along fight, SCO doesn't. This may be the last great surge before the bow of the SCO ship sinks forever under the waters of bankruptcy, or at least we can hope.
Regardless of whether he said home desktop or just desktop, droping the lowend RH effectivly drops thier 'Desktop OS' home or otherwise. You are left having to pay Enterprise prices for every desktop.
I believe we will see how important the deskop is here. Sun sells MadHatter I think thats what it's called, thier desktop linux. If someone like Suse or mandrake steps up and starts selling support for thier distro that is aimed at the desktop and is successful, RH may regret giving up thier market share.
Who really cares WHERE billy the kid is buried ( can't be anymore dead and Emilo Estevez's career who portrayed him). What if half a dozen towns lay claim to having him buried there.
Some times it more fun to think about the possibilities than to actully know the truth.
Hmmm............. I can download free versions of Debian, Fedora, Suse, Gentoo....
Also don't forget Open Office which is a very nice tool. And you say nothing of monetary value??
If I had to BUY MS XP it would cost me $150.00 or so Add another $250.00 for Orafice (forgive me If my prices are off, I don't buy alot of M$ software).
So thats what $400.00 worth of FREE SOFTWARE I can use, without the MPAA, RIAA, SPAA, SPCA, CIA, FBI or anyone else bothering me.
MS: Bad code, viruses, upgrade hassles and the never ending price hikes: $400.00
"C# applications generally outperform their Java counterparts by a large margin."
On what?? I find my java programs perform quite well on a 25 cpu *nix box....
Thats the problem with.NOT it only works on M$ and Intel CPU's.
Right now we are replacing a COBOL app with a cluster of big boxes running Java and Webspere. The nice thing is if we are unhappy with IBM, we could easily move to Sun Sparcs and Weblogic with very little changes to our app. Can't be done with.NOT you have your choice of Windoze or Windoze running on intel or amd.
Alot of big business are very pissed right now with MS over thier licensing and how virus prone thier OS is.
Add to this the fact that most COBOL code is written to a very specific hardware implementation. Most companies will eventully choose to rewrite thier COBOL apps, and given the previous reasons many of them won't even look at MS.
Time Warner owns CNN, so CNN is baised against File sharing, open source, p2p, 12 year old girls and college students....
On the other hand Fox is Owned by the GOP so It's not like they are an 'unbiased' news source.
Now to top it all off Rush Limbaugh is Hopped up on Oxycotin, which in retrospect may explain much of the last several years. Certainly no reliable source of news there.
MSNBC well we know what the MS stands for
What the hell am I left with Slashdot as a source for all my news!!!!!!
Someone please help us.....
Wait I forget I do have BBC America on Direct TV, so maybe all is not lost.
Alot of times companies look at one thing without factoring in related issues. Okay did they take into account the $39 or $399 there etc? We don't know. Will the net effect of thousands of open source folks and small companies moving to Debian or some other distro affect them in ways they can't measure on accounting balance sheet?? I believe it probably will. After all those folks downloading the free version and sticking it on thier boxes amounted to free advertising to a certain extent. That is now gone.
If the SEC can prove that this is a classic Pump and Dump then they will see jail time. Thats one thing they have been very careful to enforce, the laws regulating the stock market. If you look at some of the things IBM has been asking for, they are documents that could be used to track stock sales by SCO officers, hence forth known as SCO 'Insiders'.
We all know IBM has the money to buy a few congressmen if neccessary, so don't be suprised if Darl does end up in jail. My only hope is that in the 'Big house' his new nickname will be girlfriend.......................
You forgot we also bombed the Fench embassey by "accident" as well.
Carly Fiorina is is doing for Women in business what Ava Braun did for women in polotics.......
Gee she's done alot for working women, layed them off by the thousands at HP and Compaq, not mention the thousands of contractors that took it up the hiney in houston (at least 30% of whom were working women). As long as you choose M$, of course.
