There is this myth that PoP:SoT didn't sell well. It's true that it was slow to sell at first, but it really picked up on word-of-mouth.

From: Ubisoft posts solid year-end numbers

"The company credited 3 million-plus-selling multiplatform titles as the primary boosters of the year's bottom line: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow (1.7 million copies), Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2.4 million), and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 (2.2 million)."

Since when is 2.4 million copies sold not good sales??? Why would they make a sequel to a game that sold poorly?

This is what has confounded me. They had a successful game but decided to radically change the sequel because...why?

It's true that they aren't fixed things, but you can reproduce identical results if you seed the random number generator the same across machines.

In fact, Bungie did this in a different situation with the original Marathon game. You could place enemy AIs into the multiplayer games. You could then save multiplayer match replays -- the resulting files were very, very small because only player inputs were recorded. When you played them back, everything (AI decisions, etc) was re-created by the computer because you are providing identical input (user controls and random number seed).

So, I'm not saying it would be quick or easy, but it can certainly be done. After all, Doom III for Xbox has online co-op as a listed feature.

Regarding interaction and development: I don't think a baby does much interaction at all while sleeping, so sleeping on the back should be fine in that regard. Yes, you should put the child on its stomach while you're playing or supervising it so that it can push up with it's hands, raise its head, etc, thereby strengthing its arm, chest, and neck muscles.

Umm. No. Jason Jones was and is the main guy behind Bungie and he's still there. He's the driving force behind the story of many (all?) of thier games. Most the original Bungie guys are still there. I can think of one high-profile dude that left to form his own company, but don't feel like digging up the details right now. Should be easy enough to find.

You may not like MS, but don't take it out on Bungie, they are some damn good developers.

They were in a compromising spot some years back where they just could not effectively develop AND publish AND distribute their games -- too many big publishers were doing a better job than they ever could because they had the name recognition and the people and infastructure in place to do so. Bungie was too small. So they decided to merge with a big developer/publisher so they could focus on development instead of having to worry about calling up EB and Gamespot and the rest and trying to convince them to carry their games.

"Hello, this is Bungie and we've got an awesome new game we'd like you to sell."

From my pricings over the past few months, that shuttle system will be $500 to $700 with a mid-range CPU, 512MB DDR, a cheap to middling vid card, and NO optical drive (I was planning on recycling an old one) -- so add a DVD+/-RW to the price ($75).
