    the Alien AI would be adaptive and self-healing, and would totally block out Windows, leaving Mac as the only option

    They have been watching us for years and protected themselves from the known operating systems of the world... thus, they completely missed seeing mac as noone had any :) well other than jeff goldbloom.

    my manual says that too. try losing the VGA connector and using a video card that has DVI or component.

    I could wish it would accept the signal from the PC at 1366x768

    It can, get an NVidia card and go into the nView Display settings tree...
    Click Device Settings, Treat digital display as HDTV.

    you may need to go into the 'screen resolutions & Refresh rates' tree and click 'show standard HDTV formats' Worst case solution, add your own resolutuion in there.

    I run a HDTV (1366x768) like this all the time... hell it'll take 1080p on that LCD and negate the need for anti-aliasing in games.

    oh ya, turn off the auto-scaling on the monitor, XP only likes the resolution 1360x768.

    As I read the article.... the embedded ad is for "Grand theft auto: Vice city"...
    I could go for some hot coffee right about now...

    Anyhow on another note, Ads can be placed in games, where appropriate. The first time I jump through a 'pepsi' logo to warp, I'd be on google to find a 'patch' for this distraction in suspending my disbelief.

    I would have loved to see a Coke or Pepsi machine in Sin episode 1, but no... the had to be benign and put in 'Hammer cola...Get Hammered!' Great but it's a missed opportunity. The best ad placement I can remember to date is Bawls, in Fallout for the Xbox. not intrusive, it had nice billboards, where billboards should be, and to boot the caps were worth something in-game.

    If done correctly this could be a big thing... if done as a spinning pepsi logo i need to jump through, well... there are alot of other developers out there.

    It's a hell of a lot better way to die than being strapped down and hollowed out by parasitic wasps, whose grubs slowly eat you from the inside, too

    I expect them to jack your mouse drivers and use the optical mice as scanners to scan the paperwork on your desk.

    From my childhood the best place was at the beach somewhere locally... you can't really get up-close anyhow. I remember it quite a bit from when i was 5 (now 29).

    Although I beleive once can get closer as I've seen press much closer, but I don't know what the policy is on that.

    Good luck and post some pics (on a STRONG server) if you get any good ones.

    I live in an apartment and with my 32" WS LCD, 21" CRT, 2 17" CRT, 2 computers, and a laptop I completely skipped turning on my heaters this winter. half the time I had the windows open while it snowed outside.

    Yes the year-round bills are high, but not having the utility bills spike in the winter sure helped.

    Actually Migo is a subset program of U3... it's a desktop sync program. AFAIK it has a non u3 counterpart. also, to be honest, I wasn't impressed with the combo as I had it all setup perfectly, then a stupid glitch made the U3 drive useless on my main machine.

    I promptly ran the un-intaller and never looked back.

    honestly though... it's really because they are just whining about everyone else making money with Itunes and other digital delivery services. Working at a electronics store, I never have anyone come up to me and ask, "where do I find the cd-players?". to be honest, I can't remember a single sale where a cd-player was involved. BTW, I sell about 10 or more MP3 players each day.

    I should send a box of loose blank DVD's with 'Screw you MPAA' written on them for their next photo-op on finding dvd's.

    I have for years now carried a few stickers printed on a laser printer with address labels...

    I stick them on the back side of toilet stalls or in spots one would only find after a while of.... uh sitting.

    Ads in games aren't exactly new.

    Am I the only one who noticed Bawls in the fallout series?

    To be honest I think it added a sense of "oh ya I guess that could be our future" to the game.

    If done tastefully and correctly placement distracts less than having a can of 'cooko-cola' on the table rather than 'Coca-cola'.

    Heck my first GTA hack was to put back in Real products into the game rather than fake ones for Ads and Billboards.

    Something doesn't have to be "real" to generate a self reinforcing chemical change in the brain.

    Nice a thread on how much more 'real' religion is to a videogame.
    Both activities when preacticed will build reinforced neuro pathways that make the brain feel good to use.

    Not to call out too many flames, but I've seen more people ruined by religious fanaticisim than by video games.

    Don't get me wrong, I am a preist, but sometimes it does get out of hand, much like gaming, gambling, drinking, Extreme sports, IM/AOL, etc...

    Even in my own family one person was fired from being an engineer because he couldn't focus on the job at hand rather than everyones salvation. Now he's a family outcast with a Hyper-tension heart issue.

    I think it's best said: too much of a good thing (OR ANYTHING) is a bad thing.

    I would like to patent the method of random thought, thus enabling me to patent everything as a result of 'Guided' Random thought.

    The wheel.. mine. I can prove it too. Random thought some time in the future will allow humans to travel back through time exposing our ancestors to the concept of the wheel.

    I also Patent the more directed method of making money off of such claims in suing everyone who does anything. Please make it easier on yourself and just pay up... we don't want this to get out of hand (one of my ideas I may add). I invented the Judiciary process so you can't win... also a process I invented.
