The problem of computer hardware scams is tiny next to the problem of women returning clothes that they wear for a couple days and then return. (Which most women actually believe is okay).
I don't know a single solitary soul (male or female) who thinks that is "ok". Just sayin'
My first computer was a KayPro IV, which I distinctly remember buying in 1982 in spite of what Wikipedia says. I was going to write the great American novel using *Wordstar!
Im all seriousness I wish someone would tell me more about conditions at Amazon (yes, I have Googled and i don't like what I see). My extremely taciturn step-son (not the brightest lad either, sorry) works in the food warehouse. I strongly suspect that the conditions there are very poor, but he won't enlighten me. He also got conned into a 4-day a week 10 hours shift (which translates into 12 hours with unpaid lunch break and travel) but gets called in because he is needed to work another day EVERY SINGLE WEEK. He's exhausted and he is an extremely fit man in his early 20s. I'm very worried about this.
I haven't read every post here, so I don't know if anyone else has pointed this out; but Bannon does not appear to even know what the definition of "civic society" even is. It's certainly not what he is framing it to mean in this assertion.
What he means of course is "culture" but he wisely decided (probably at the last minute) that using that term would be a bit too much and might smack of intellectual elitism and just alarm the meatheads that he was trying to communicate with by flashing one of their buzz-words. So his mind veered and faltered and settled on "civic society" (which is really not what he saying - a civic society is a voluntary body or society with civic aims).
This is only one of many crimes against language perpetrated by him and really all of the Trump camp puppet heads. Never have I seen such a low level of erudition in a group of public servants, and given that I am from New Orleans that is saying something. In Bannon's case it probably has more with his being a drunk and thus unable to actually concentrate (look at his face, look at his disheveled demeanor, read the gin blossoms in his cheeks - he's hard core); expect much more of this nonsense. I keep hoping that I will find someplace where the discourse instead of just reacting to this kind of puffery attempts to deconstruct it logically. I haven't found that place yet.
If it needs saying, my Comment Subject Line is mean to b a funny.
I just want to register someplace how mystified I am that not one single living soul seems to have the foggiest idea what the word "existential" even means; yet I seem to see and hear it everywhere I go. This Musk person seems to be no exception. It seems to be a generational thing too, because while Boomers (for example) or GenXers don't know either - at least they don't use the word every time they are expressing themselves and attempting to appear intelligent.
There is a Fight Club joke in here somewhere, but I haven't the heart to find it. Poor man.

And in a year buying a $15,000 robot will be cheaper than paying an employee $9/hr...
They're going to replace employees with robots anyhow, I don't buy that increasing the minimum wage to whatever has anything to do with it.
It wasn't a nuclear plant that sucked in the diver. It was a current created by an artificial lagoon being drained below sea level and the sea via gravity refilling it. That is why there was no impeller or turbine to chew him up.
This what I love about this site, someone here is intelligent enough to explain this. (thanks)
They also seem to be on the wrong side of the way things are trending (the wrong side of history I tell ya'!). Disqus for example removed their 'downvote', or rather downgraded it to this ineffectual thing that you can press but nothing happens. I can remember conversations at lively sites (like one dedicated to the Oscars) that would have huge numbers of both up and down votes and it was kind of amusing, but somebody was getting their feelings hurt somewhere so they changed that. On Ebay it is literally impossible to give any seller 'bad feedback'. The entity (Ebay itself) would rather refund your money than allow you to post a bad review. They give you your money back and the seller that is selling the cheap, broken, not-as-represented thing gets to keep doing it. This is true, I can tell you that as both an Ebay seller and buyer that on the whole it sucks.
Anyway, lets hope that the obvious potential for abuse brings this model crashing down in its infancy. I for one had a quick shudder and actual feeling of panic when I read this. For my sins I would certainly prefer that many incidents from my history were not aired on the internet.
From what I can see there is nothing special about him or what he did, he is just some cheeky kid who used a very naive way of getting attention and it got out of hand. All this talk of discrimination etc. seems like a beat-up and the poor kid will pay the price in the long run for all the manipulating adults have done to politically capitalise on his prank. Now he has the entire world watching him and expecting to live up to their expectations when there is no solid evidence he is gifted at all.
How is he going to have a normal and healthy adolescence with that weight on his shoulders? How many children pushed into the limelight crashed and burned as young adults when reality came along and burst their artificially inflated egos? How is messing with children like that in any way ethical regardless of the cause you think it is in aid of?
As a mother I thought the same thing instantly, the poor boy - what have they done to him!
Note to Keith Ketzle (the freckled Texan triathlete with an M.B.A. quoted in the article).
Your assertion, “Conflict brings about innovation;” is (a.) not true and (b.) makes you sound a bit like you've been lobotomized.
1. Aren't you a little black to be a stormtrooper?
That black actor is John Boyega, star of the incredibly marvelous micro-budget film 'Attack the Block' (which you should rent or watch on Netflix RIGHT NOW) and said to be one of the stars of this film. He will not be killed off early in the movie. That leads me to wonder if the plot involves his character hiding inside the Storm Trooper army (which would indeed be hard if you are a dark skinned person); it also leads me to wonder why smart geek sites like this aren't (a.) doing their homework and (b.) exploring these plotline possibilities instead of bickering about lightsaber shorting materials.
Yeah, something about the sense of entitlement and the crude attempt to u the line tells me that there is something more to this story. I wonder what the tweet actually said and i wonder what kind of hissy the guy was actually having at the gate. I'm not impressed by his plea for special treatment.
If they had stuck to selling drugs I think most people would feel sympathetic to them, but start trafficking in stolen identities and weapons and I think I have as much interest as the government does in taking you down.

Surely Lisbeth Salander makes up for all of this?
Always a sign of sloppy thinking.
You need to look closely at your spending habits and priorities, not to mention your humanity.
That what I thought, an insomniac that fell asleep, or someone with sleep apnea that was sleep deprived, something like that.

Ha, same at our house. We haven't watched regular TV in more than a decade.

Obviously, you've never read The New Republic.

Yes, probably during the course of a huge hissy fit that necessitated the summoning of the cops.

Why are coin dealers on that list? What am I missing?

If only a bear would eat Ellison, but unfortunately bears have too good a taste to eat sacks of shit.
Really my first thought, what an asshole.
