  1. Isn't this a cartoon already? on The New Zelda · · Score: 1

Maybe it's just my opinion, but havent the Zelda games in the past been cartoons? Look at other popular PC and console games like Resident Evil, Diablo 2, and stuff like that. They try to realistically portray the human form. I've never seen Zelda try to accomplish that. I mean, for God's sakes, the characters are for the most part elfin. Of course it looks cartoonish.

I whole-heartedly agree. Commercials these days suck. They insult my intelligence, or are just plain irrelevant. I have no need for diapers, feminine hygeine products, or Miss frigging Cleo, and a ton of other products. Why should they care if I watch their commerical? It's not like I need those products. Now, if they were advertising golf clubs, and I wanted to choose between two manufacturers, that's where it matters what I view. And then, there are the exceptions to the rule. That commercials that are just plain entertaing. The (early) Bud frog and lizard commercials, Sportscenter, and Pemican beef jerky. The ones I watch just because they're damn funny.

Adobe is kind of right on this. As generic as 'illustrator' is, the context in which it is used is the reason they don't like it being used. Using the term illustrator is one thing, but Adobe Illustrator is the preeminent vector graphics program. So when someone makes a vector graphics program called KIllustrator, I can see were they would claim it's infringement.

  10. Bound to fail on Half Keyboard, Full Bore · · Score: 2

This thing is bound to fail for several reasons.

    1. It's made for lefties. A lot more people are right handed than left. Scientific American lists most humans (say 70 percent to 95 percent) are right-handed, a minority (say 5 percent to 30 percent) are left-handed, and a few as ambidexterous. That immediatelly dwindles your potential user base, since most people's non-dominant are useless for skills that require more dexiterity, and they don't want to try to learn a new way to type with a weak hand, which brings me to the second reason.

    2. You have to fundamentally change the way you type. You have to learn a completely new method of typing. People who have been typing for years are familiar with the two-handed touch method, using the shift only for a few certain functions. Now you have to use the space bar for half the alphabet. Not intuitive.

    3. Using the space bar as the shift will lead to more errors. Utilizing the space as the shift for the other letters is going to cause problems. You hit the space bar, maybe a little to hard or long, then go to type an S, and end up with an L. That would annoy anybody.

    4. The competition from folding keyboards will keep it down. For the same price as this half keyboard, you can get a folding one that let's you type the same as you do on your laptop or your PC. Nothing new to learn. (Of course, not that many people really need to imput a ton of text into PDA's anyway, but I digress.)

This thing is going to bomb.

I am not at all saying that teamwork isn't important. It's absolutely vital. It's not as though I am a new student. I've already got a BS in CS and a BA in Art Design. I've done my time as an undergrad, found a job, and have been in the workforce. I learned a lot more from on the job teamwork than through the classroom. In the classroom, everyone gets a grade. Some want A's, some are satisfied with B's or C's, so long as they get their degree. In the office though, you don't preform, you get fired. That's life. Because people in college have varying expectations, it ruins the group dynamic.

  13. Re:Group projects on Technology vs. Cheating at the University of Virginia · · Score: 2

Group projects in general are worthless. Whenever I have one assigned, I wait for the option to do it yourself. If that option isn't given, I wait for the end of class to ask the prof to let me do it on my own anyway. The extra work is usually worthwhile. Every group project I ever got stuck with, some one slacks. That's the rule. And I don't want my grade to suffer for it. What makes it worse is that I'm doing my Master's at night. I live 1 1/2 from the campus. It's a real pain to 1)make it to class once a week after working a 10 hour day, and 2) finding one or two nights or weekend-days to get together with your group to work on the damn thing. There are alot better ways to foster teamwork than group assignments in college.
