Me, concidering how much I spent on copyrighted and copy protected materials only to have the disk go bad from excessive use. Plus with all the purchases I've done over the years for copyrighted works, I never saw a clear notice that said, "Good for X number of uses."

A good example is cd protections that prevent backup copies of software. It's a real pain to put a CD in for a game even after you do a complete install. That isn't lazyness, thats me not wanting to use the only copy of the install I have to run the game when it should work perfectly fine on it's own w/out the CD for the install I did.

I think that when I pay for something it's mine to do with as I see fit for my personal use. If the copyright owner limits my use of their product unacceptably, I just don't purchase it. My CD and movie collection has been stagnet for a few years now. I havn't even seen Lord of the Rings or the Star Wars movies because I refuse to give money to people who put crazy things like the DMCA in to existance. In all honesty I never had a problem till they started limiting what I could do and now I just don't buy their product anymore.

  9. Biggest plus. on Mozilla 1.7 Released · · Score: 1

Biggest plus about installing Mozilla under linux is how easy it is. Untar as root, run the installer, boom done.. One more step to making it single click like windows and they'll have software installation down as easy as it is in windows.

Just have to eliminate that untar thing. Although I do love tar'n things. Makes life easier for archiving. Maybe they could make it like the java shell script install, have it unarchive and then automaticlly run the installer.

Have to say the 1.7 release is firing up faster then the 1.6 did on my RH 9 box. Nice job, I'll be ordering a T-shirt later on. Can't wait to put it on my Mandrake machines.

If I could get on a ship and travel the galaxy and see everything I would. Unfortunatly I can't and probebly never will. Course there's a lot to see on our own planet as well. Though it's mostly a "been there, done that" deal, except for maybe the ocean floor. Mmmm crushing pressure. :)

I have this weird belief that cell phones should just be for emergency use or for when you don't have a phone at home. Amazingly enough I think there should only be one ring tone to lessen the confusion, cost, and increase the useability of the thing. The only feature I see of any use is the built in phone book.

I honestly can't see the cellphone with a net connection. I can't see it with email cause typing is a pain w/out a regular keyboard. I can't see it as an IM cause last thing I want is constant messages beaming in. I could turn it off, but also why bother having more that can go wrong when I don't need it or get confused by it?

Finally if my kids should ever want a phone, it'll not be mine to co-own. For they shall pay for their time in full I must say and not see a dime from me to pay.

So here I sit with a poor rhyme for you, as a minority wanting a phone thats useable by me and not useable by everyone else to bother me. :)

I like this from the article..

Certainly, our personal computer will remember anything we've ever seen or done online. A complete HDTV record of every waking hour of your life will consume 2 percent of your hard disk.

This gets me to think that if my entire life is on 2 percent of my hard drive, think of the sitcom potential. Also if for whatever reason say the media giants of 30 years from now decide that they have the rights to use that two percent of your life for whatever services you get for this super computer. I wonder what protections would be in place for the little guy? If this were to happen, your life could be the next late night sitcom.

Another thing that has me wondering is the prediction about whole worlds for video games. I'm guessing online worlds like There, Activeworlds, Lineage 2? Or will these be "Worlds In a Box" type worlds that you install on your own PC or both? I hope they come up with good AI's cause it'd be a pain to come up with a dialog for an entire world population. I won't even begin to guess the cost of buying one of those games.

One thing that seperates NWN from pen and paper D&D is you can not get Array out of Bounds errors on pen and paper D&D when creating an adventure like you can in the Aurora toolset when adding your own content or manipulating it.

Also you have the ability to use your imagination more and drink beer and hang out with cool friends unlike NWN unless your doing a LAN fest of it. Still it's not the same in any way, shape or form.
