There no ordinary dust bunnies in computers! They have a mean streak a mile wide and big, nasty, pointy teeth!! *Puts fingers to lips*... Look at the bones!
Have imeadiate family but it's bleah for christmas. So my biggest thing is trying to stay connected to this server on Neverwinter Nights as a dwarf wearing a tuxedo. Ahh the Dryads love a sharp dressed Dwarven Fighter!:)
I'd hate to see em go but I'm guessing they arn't living within their means so to speak. Either way I paid for my distro when I ordered it from them and think thats fair. If they want to charge for update access to their servers and support like Redhat does I think that would be fair too. A club with perks thats fine, but don't make it be the only way the company can survive. All I have to say is cut your costs, live with in your means, and pay your bills up front.

I've been quite happy with Mandrake for 4 versions.. Purchased 6.0 and had it running a samba server in college when I was doing tech support work. VERY nice and stable.:) Purchased 6.5 after that and then 8.0 and 9.0 directly from them once I realized the distribution channel thing.
I have no problems paying for something that has been really good to me for stability, ease of use, and letting me have the final say on how I use my computer. Currently I have the download 9.0 edition running on a 1.2 ghz athelon and when the boxed 9.0 set came in it went right on my dell inspiron 8000 laptop.
I'd say for ease of use this is one of the best distros out there. Though Redhat 8.0 is really pretty too. Either way I wouldn't even let my mother install Windows, much less linux. I'd say both are equally confusing to a new user.
Thumbs up to the Mandrake people. I'll be buying from you guys for sure more often.
The best feature I like about Mandrake is that unlike some other proprietary OS. It ASKS me if it can connect to the internet for updates instead of said proprietary OS's current trend moving to an "Auto-Update" w/out my approval.:)
Quality comes from someone who takes pride in their work. Those that think quantity have bad quality, those that think quality have numbers and success cause their work speaks for itself. This is not to say pay more for better quality, this is to say find someone who prides themself in their work and buy from them. Companies can fit that description as well when they pride themselves in their work honestly.
In a statement, Microsoft said that it is "focused on delivering the best technology to people throughout the world. However, Microsoft cannot control the way it may ultimately be used."
Wasn't this basic argument used by ISP's and whatnot do defend themselves from over zelous copyright holders? I guess the guy who made DeCSS should be able to hide under that same argument since he's in a different country like Microsoft isn't in China. So since MS says they arn't responsible then the DeCSS author(s) shouldn't be either. And neither should Dimetri Skarlov, academic researchers, etc.
Amazing how America fights so called evil on the one hand and on the other American businesses sell to the same said so called evil the tools to do it's dirty work.
I stopped at that point in the article cause I was so disgusted. I imagine Sun, Cisco, etc are all using the same arguments. I guess the only real devil in this world is the one we see each morning in the mirror when we take sides with whats in our minds the lesser of two evils and not choosing a third option.
Concidering that "Progress" has torn and abused most of the land that humans have inhabited. I don't see much of a green future for the Hobbit House that would have lush hills for it to be situated in. Though it is quite a neat idea for housing, being underground I'd imagine it's more insulated then an above ground house.
I think it's a big inconvenience and is way to much to ask for. I've had enough experiences fighting off 2 or 3 popup ads and ending up closing the content instead of the ads cause they opened up other windows on me.
Besides there's another form up popup going around now that Windows is so bullet ridden with security holes they don't need web browsers anymore. http://www.re-quest.net/internet/webpopup/ is a site that tells you how to turn off messenging services in Windows so you don't recieve advertisements through services normally used for client/server messages. I've been recieving them regularly for weeks now at Sundays at 10am and I've fought back and I'll continue to fight back against any person, business, or thing that forces me to loose control of MY (The User's) PC.:)
To make a buck do I have the right to come in your home and plaster ad's over your wall if you use information or services I place in a public area? If they want to make money, charge a subscription fee and if the site is good enough they won't have any problems.
Thats my opinion, wither or not anyone likes it isn't important to me because I'm so sick and disgusted with web advertising I don't care if people go broke anymore. My life has been anoyed and bugged to the point by marketing and lack of privacy that I almost wish the internet never took off some days.
I have an old handspring that I got as a tip for fixing someone's computer a while back. Nice little PDA even though it's not color or backlit. Still, it sits on my shelf gathering dust cause I have a laptop that I use more, just glad I didn't have to pay for it.
I can't live w/out "My..." I have a My Source Codes directory on my linux box along with My Documents, My Pictures, My OGGs, My Downloads, My Jars, My Gzips, My 3D Models, and My Games.:)
The way the whole article reads I'll be getting less bang for my dollar. I'll let my dollars do the voting and Sony will be out of office in my music purchases, hardware purchases, and any other purchases I make that could involve their company.
I'll go out and buy a flute and start playing myself at this rate, will be worth more then a copy protected CD ever will and my imagination can pickup the slack my talent leaves off.:)
When are they going to build a computer that keeps all that data intact for longer then the average human life span? Given how computers are cycled through every year or so this may not be so reliable because of backup failures, upgrades, and acts of god. I won't even go in to the ability of Microsoft developers to make something so precious and valuable safe, secure, and free from marketing exploitation.:D
I think this also can benifit the question that little Jonny or Jenny might ask. "How does this work?" Now they can literly show them and learn from seeing how the software works on the machine with the source code they get in open source software. They could even copy it and give it to all the students and faculty w/out fear of the BSA breathing down their necks.

6> Taking care of Windows users helped pay my way through college. Coding for them now even though I'm doing Java/JSP developement is paying for my loans.
Want to be productive again? Toss the computer out the window, go for a walk, smell the flowers and enjoy life while you can. The world is being destroyed by greed and hatred and will only last so much longer.

It's really sad to see this kind of perishable DVD or anything being put out. It amazes me that an industry who's artists are so pro-environment will allow something so trashy to get out.
Some real uses for perishable DVD's:
1> Replace that aging AOL drink coaster.
2> Great for inner office CD fights. Become a disc ninja to your favorit artists and movie themes!
3> Wow your friends with a new and delghtful style of wall paper. Hopefully the change in the CD will keep it at a pleasing color for wallpaper.
4> Stair case banister decorations!
5> Please the wife by decking out the kitchen with a fancy new tile. Renovating has never been easier and cheaper!
6> Been looking for a neat crash guard for the garage? Look no further! Stack a bunch of these babies sideways in the back and next time your teenager pulls the dodge in you'll have a neat show and the kid can clean up afterwards.
7> And finally.. snow shoes getting worn? A little rubber cement and some handy dandy disposable DVD's and your slip-sliding your way in to fame and fortune.
Well if it's saving me money in postage rates then atleast make it worth my while and have the CD be blank so I can recycle it. You can put your own CD label on it AOL but also include a blank space for me to write in the label as well.:)

Thats an easy answer, stop buying their products all together. Not like that will ever happen with most people, but if a big enough stink is raised over this it may just be a possiblility.
Nicole Nicoles aka Lt. Uhura was on a Star Trek biography. She contemplated quiting the show from what I remember. Then she met up with I think Dr. Martin King, well in a nut shell after she told him she was gonna leave he told her that she was an african american woman cast in a position of authority over others and she should stay. For back in the 60's that was seriously something for equal rights in relation to race and sex.
I think it was Dr. King, if I'm wrong someone correct me please. I knew it was an important figure in the equal rights movement she talked to.
