No matter how thoroughly they search there will always be ways around it.
If stopping terrorism is the real goal, the best response would be for the media and government to play down any terrorist plot, successful or not. When they hype it up and run around screaming they're doing exactly what the terrorists want: spreading terror and drawing attention to the terrorist organizations. Unfortunately the media and the government do the exact opposite of what they should do, so that we'll be scared enough to let them strip search us whenever they want to, tap our communications, and put cameras on every street corner. It's a tool for control.
Although this raises questions like why they didn't just mine the floating mountains,
Because they mess up their instruments, and because they're floating. It would be too difficult / dangerous / expensive. Much more efficient to simply exterminate the locals.
Maybe you were lucky enough to have parents that would drive you around everywhere at any time of day and night, and lucky enough to not need a lot of sleep. For the rest of us just keeping up with homework could use all the "free time" we had.
The City of Minneapolis, in preparation for hosting the Republican National Convention, took out an insurance policy to cover legal costs and fines related to civil rights violations. Having done so, the Minneapolis Police had no incentive to respect peoples rights, and many violations were documented.
Do you think people would drive more carefully if there were no such thing as auto insurance?
The primary reason for our ridiculously high imprisonment rate is our ongoing "war" on drugs
Close. The primary reason for our ridiculously high imprisonment rate is the profitability of keeping prisoners. The "War on Drugs" is a tool to that end. If the "War on Drugs" were eliminated, the prison market would see that as damage and rout around it.
Unfortunately it's up the they judges, lawyers, and "representatives" to decide what the "due process of law" is. In some cases if someone in power decides he doesn't like you, that's "due process".
You have the right to travel, and in today's society it's becoming virtually impossible to travel without a car. Sure I don't have the right to crash into you, but it's my responsibility to make sure I don't. If we were to accept the commonly used statement "Driving is not a right", then by the same logic we could accept the following:
Internet access is not a right.
Telephone use is not a right.
Choice of clothing is not a right.
Choice of food is not a right
Being informed is not a right.
"If this game is a nonlegit copy, but you really like it, click here to pay us a discounted price"
I see a potential or abuse there. "You clicked the button admitting that you're using pirated software, so we're going to prosecute you." You've even given them payment information that they can use to identify you. Better to simply have a "contribute" button. Some enthusiastic users who actually purchased the software might like to contribute in the hopes it will encourage more free DLC, better support, or future versions of the software.
It's like having the right to defend yourself, but not being allowed to carry a weapon. If you have the right to defend yourself you have the right to be armed. Not that it holds up in court though...

Actually I'm stuck in a tiny office reading Slashdot.

Pod racing makes for a video game without weapons or violence, which makes for a boring and forgettable game.
Push button.
It could help if someone breaks into your house to steal your Playstation...

Interesting. Source please?
Wish for mod points... The only way to ensure safe driving is to take the human being out of the equation and go to automated driving systems.

More like we're the exception to Habeus Corpus; it doesn't always apply here.

You could have a battery on a credit card, and call it your "Charge Card".
Your baby seal is leaking.
Have Mythbusters do it as an"experiment"...
I guess they need a blue penguin.
I have a friend who's borderline autistic that also happens to be highly intelligent, and is an accomplished programmer and technical writer.

640 cores aught to be enough for anybody!
Which could make the market more favorable for domestic manufacturing. Yay pirates!
Mod parent up!
The problem arises when all DVDs have DRM. That would be like saying you have the right to bear arms, but can't be in the country while doing it.
