If that were the case then there would just be hundreds of posts from people who couldnt get through on the phone number.
Besides, should they have arranged a free number for Every country? I'm sure people would not want to pay for a phone call to the States from elsewhere in the world.
The information in thea rticle was from the OnTrack data recovery service, so its probably safe to assume they were called in to recover the document from the laptop. Why go to that expense if there is another copy elsewhere?
While waiting through a horrendous delay ( the plane I was supposed to be catching hadnt yet left the UK...) I spotted a decent looking Arcade.
However, you had to pay a flat fee of $20 (might have been a little less, cant remember) but then all the games were free. Trouble was, they wouldnt let you in to look at what games were available before buying. I wasnt about to shell out, only to find they had 7 Street Fighter 2 boxes in there.....
I wonder how well something like Gish would actually do if it were on the shelves in high-street shops. It is undeniably a good game (along with their Bridge Construction Set games), but I don't feel that they would appeal to a particularly wide audience.
Personally I enjoy the games greatly, mainly due to their portrayal of real world physics. That appeals to my geekness as it probably does to a large proportion of slashdot readers. However, I'm not sure how that would translate to the wider demographic of the high-street shoppers.

Sure mistakes are made in all lines of business, but when these mistakes can result in actualy bodily harm you can understand stockholders adverse reactions.
1. RIAA buys list of submitted IP addresses from EFF since putting your IP into this means that you are worried about getting sued by the RIAA, which most likely means that you have done something its possible to get sued for.
The technology may involve a non-audible code inserted into the game that would be picked up by a Nielsen device.
This will surely give skewed results..... People playing on headphones will not generate a 'hit' . Also, whats to stop people finding out which sounds contain these codes, making a tape of it and sitting it on repeat play....?
Advertising withine Entertainment is getting out of hand.
Product placemernt has always been around of course, but I was amazed at how blatent its become.
I went to see I, Robot in the cinema the other day. Within the first few minutes there was a lingering closeup of a new steroe system by JVC, and Will Smiths character received a special delivery containing some 'retro 2004 edition' trainers. Immediately after pulling them on he said "Ah, a thing of beauty". He was complimented on them a few tiems during the film also....
When I go to the cimena, I expect to see a few adverts. I dont mind watching film trailers, I was annoyed when UK cinemas started showing 'regular' TV adverts before a film showing but I can just about sit through them.
However, once the film starts I expect the adverts to finish.
MI2 had this kind of feature. You had a choise at the beginning if you wanted to play Monkey Lite, or the full adventure.
Taking the Lite option simplified some f the puzzles, and removed some of the locations, making the game far more accesable to people on a tight timescale. It took absolutely nothing away from those who opted for the full thing.
I completed the long version, then went back and did the short version to see what was missed out. As far as I can remember the many-stage puzzles were usually simplified by removing a few sections, or you automatically found an item lying around that you would otherwise have had to solve a puzzle to obtain.
I cant see how this kind of choice can be anyhing other than a good thing?

I particularly like the story regarding a steel girder that fell upon a laptop during the construction of a building.
The laptop contained the blueprints for the building......
I think HL2 will give both arun for their money.
but people who kill people sure do seem to like guns a lot...
We used to login as root and type 'rm -r' into the console WITHOUT pressing Enter.
We then took turns at throwing stuff at the keyboard to see if we would just-so-happen to hit the Enter key.
Luckily, none of us were very good shots...

Its called progress.
Thats something I'd like to see.
Think of it as "Zero point eight" , "Zero point nine", "Zero point ten" and so on.
Much the same numbering system as used by ATI's Catalyst Drivers.

You dont want much, do you...?
Hmm, I did originally have fake [Paranoia] tags around it, but they didnt come out.....

3. Profit!!
Yes, sorry. I realised after posting this initial question that the article was about a different product. Sorry for the confusion...

Is there any more news on whether the PS3 will be compatable with PS2/1 games?
