Well at my company Linux has 100% desktop usage. Well its only a few linux peeps but does that count? The point it depends on the sample size and no mention is made of where the data comes from, number of people etc.
I wonder if the code includes the appropiate part of the code validator for when installing. If so it might pose a problem. Of course anything like that could be easily updated for the final versions so whilst embaressing its not a total commerical failures. Also does it include the maps + media or is it just the engine itself?
I use the internet for a lot of fact lookups. i.e. how do I setup so and so. Also for news headlines its a handy resources but I'm carful about opinion.s IMHO (:) ) one of the strenghts + weakness of the internet is that anyone can put up information about anything. How do you check they are right?
This is why I still find resources such as paper encylopidias or the digtal counterparts a better resource. Also for some things such as book it is better to have paperback as you can sit out in the sun and enjoy life rather than being stuck in front of a computer screen
So this means that I can be floating on a boat, enjoying the sun, the smell of the harbour and reading/. What more could a geek want apart from a girlfriend, faster laptop, respect from hispeers
Well least they make a passing mention of the once great SGI hardware. T2 seemed to be the peaks and its been a bit downhill from there on it. However nice to see linux make inroads into the render farms. I have to wondered if however faster inter-connects would be needed between the nodes?
Is gigabit network really fast enough or would something even higher be needed?
Downloaded the source, compiled, restarted gaim. Got pounced on by customers. Fantastic:)
However good job to Trillain for passing the code on. Lets just see how long it lasts though as I can't help but think yahoo will change the protocol again
From my expierence I've always noticed that AMD seems to run hotter than Intel. Does this mean that I will have something to keep my pockets nice and warm?
Prehaps it could be marketed as a small pocket heater
IF the artical is correct it almost seems to imply that the default CPU will be 32 bit then with some method of upgrading it to 64 bit with an addon. Surely it would just make sence to make the 64 bit run 32 bit code well ala the Opeteron
If it ain't broke don't fix it. OK so Windows 2003 might be making ground but what about security of the server. AFAIK nothing major has hit 2003 yet prehaps the blaster worm. There is always a jump when new technology is realeased. Anyway give it another 6 months to see where things are
Gaim people are trying and with the latest CVS 0.69 things have improved from not being able to connect to just getting incorrect password. They are getting there and I know there are lots of bug reports open on it and they are hopeful.
What is going to be more intersting is what happens with MSN + license. Yahoo isn't charging people to access their network (and yes it is their network so they can do this). Fun times ahead. Prehaps everyone should just move over to Jabber
You hvae to wonder how long it will get use to being able to text fast on that keyboard layout. I'm not saying the classic layout is ideal but everyone knows where the keys are
With 3 OpenSSH patches + sendmail in that last week I'm sure UNIX peeps have been busy. Of course updates seems fewer than windows but it still keeps us all in work
Well there is a 3rd party which is open and works. Its called "Jabber". Now of course most people here know this but along with the Yahoo also shutting people out prehaps its time to move
Well lets hope for once ICANN actually does something rather than just letting people get away with it. Of course ICANN isn't that well respected but more so that Verisign

But will it work if there is a power outage and you have to call 911?

Well taking recent events remove ssh and sendmail. Access via telnet only. No one will ever see my password that way
