I sleep about 1 meter from my home server... Possible fix: REMOVE all ability to vary fan speed! And to park disks! And perhaps even to slow processor.
It uses the base package's configuration tools; for X, this is still xf86config. I mean, come on... when was the last time anybody on a modern operating system had to enter scan rates by hand?
Give "xf86cfg" a try. It is the new GUI configurator for X that has been in place since 4.0 I believe.
If you want to use a GPRS card, you shouldn't need the 802.11 card at the same time, so why not just swap them around? Besides, having both cards active at the same time would put quite a drain on your battery I would think.
and your business is harmed as a result of a hAc30R, you can sue Micro$oft for having a crap product
Yes, like when Code Red was spreading like wildfire and all the companies affected by it sued Microsoft. Oh, wait...
Have you EVER read a EULA? One of the things that sticks out the most is something to the effect of "We are not responsible for any harm this software causes, blah blah blah..."
would just now be slumming around reading below (score : 1) at this late a date.
If you read my post, you'll see that I said I have seen this posted a lot, so yeah, I read down in the depths below "score:1" sometimes (lately I have been reading at a higher level because I get sick of the "page widening" posts though). I have always just read it, wondered what the joke was and went on with life. I just figured after all this time, it keeps getting posted, maybe there was some "inside joke" I was missing. No biggie!
highly doubt you'd even want to think about getting X running on that old of a machine
Back in the day, I had X running on a 386DX 40MHz system with 16MB RAM. Not that I would want to run anything close to that configuration today! But it is possible.
I'm in the Phoenix area. What kind of developers are you looking for? Depending on how things go at work over the next few weeks, I may be looking for a position doing C# soon.
I watch movies off the net for a variety of reasons: Renting a movie implies driving off campus, finding a video store, renting the movie, and returning it in a timely fashion. Purchasing DVD's is not out of the question, but buying more than a few a year stresses my budget.
So basically what you are saying is: "It's OK to steal, because either I am too lazy to obtain things by purchasing them, or I can't afford them in the first place." That's great logic. Yes, CDs and DVDs are a little on the pricey side for what you get, but that is no excuse to steal them. <sarcasm>I'd like to drive a Ferrari, I can't afford it, therefore it's OK to go steal one.</sarcasm> Give me a break!
how many homes will have pc's when one can run staroffice/openoffice, surf and email from their ps3?
I don't think the convergence of the game-console and the "general purpose PC" is a good idea. I bought my game-console specifically for the reason that it is NOT a PC. I don't want to deal with PC-like stuff on my game console. I just want to put a game in and start playing. My kids aren't old enough yet to figure out how to login, find the game they want to run, click on it, etc. But they can turn on the console and stick in a CD and be off and running by themselves.
When you do a local file search notice the panel on the left of the window that pops up. That is HTML generated from a few different xml files on your hard drive. The search assistant checks Microsoft's server every so often to see if there are newer versions of the xml files, which would allow for updated searching options.
What Microsoft probably wants to do is make.Net an indespensable component and require license fees later on. If they can do this, they will control the Linux platfrom.
Since Mono is not being developed by Microsoft and is being released under various open source licenses, this is not a possibility. Microsoft has already submitted the C# language specs and the CLR specs to ECMA anyway. There's no "taking it back" now.
It might be a good idea for you to read the FAQ on the Mono site.
With Microsoft.NET, you have to be running Windows to access the.NET servers.
That depends on what your definition of.Net is. If you are talking about web sites built using ASP.Net, then you can access them with any OS and browser (within reason). I don't see a government making information available to the public through any other means than websites/web applications, distributing custom client software would be a major pain.
I have a Sony VAIO PCG-GR370 for work. The only reason it is a laptop and not a desktop is so that I can take it home when I get tired of working at the office and do more work at home later. I don't carry it with me everywhere I go, just from home to work and back. In this scenario, the bigger the screen the better and the size of the laptop won't really affect me too much. I know, "Why don't you just hook up an external monitor?" Well, I do, but I use the LCD panel at the same time so I have a dual head system. My point is, not everyone needs the smallest possible laptop available. Some of us laptop users are not "road warriors".
Same thing happened to me on a certain PDA oriented website. The forums used to display blank under Mozilla. Not sure if they still do. I sent an email to the editor and his response was that their statistics said that almost no one used Mozilla or even Netscape 4.x, so there was no incentive to fix it.

OK, you're right, P2P is more than just music, movies and porn. It's all about copyrighted software too.

OK, I've seen this posted on Slashdot a lot. I don't get it. Is there a joke somewhere in these postings that I am missing?
If magazine publishers could do it cheaply, you can bet they would make them "dance and flash things at you." Thankfully, they can't...yet!

Which just goes to show the "quality" programmers out there coding all those "great" web guestbooks...

HTML?? Programmer?? If anyone calls themselves a programmer because they know HTML, they should be shot. HTML is more like low level word processing.
It's "moot", not "mute". That's the second time today I've seen someone use the word "mute" when they meant "moot" so I had to comment this time.

You must be blind if you cant see 1600x1200 on a 14 foot screen!

I like "adds" better than "subtracts"...
Which county is that? I live in Arizona and am interested to see how whichever county it is, is handling it.
Visual Studio .Net was not written in C#. It was written in C++. A lot of the .Net Framework is written in C# though.
