If you're already proficient in a programming language, you can pick up the basics of COBOL in an afternoon (OpenCOBOL is pretty easy to install). I did just that last week. Totally educational. Modern programmers don't know how good they have it!
...would be a PB combined with some way for the app and OS to tell me why things have slowed down, in plain language. This would not be impossible to do.
There is a theory that the earth was lighter back then, which let heavier animals thrive. It's an interesting theory - it also says that the Pangea continent covered the whole earth (not just one side) since the earth was ~40% of it's current size, and that it grew by collecting space debris over time. Someone should do the math concerning muscle efficiency and this ancient mass of the earth and see if it works out.
I'm curious about something.. If you run DC current through a length of wire, you get an electromagnetic field oriented by the right hand rule, going around the wire. Could this be somehow causing the balls to spin? I'd like to try this experiment with the wires as short as possible to minimize the field oriented to the balls' axis. How would one prove that the electromagnetic field caused by the balls themselves isn't causing their own rotation? I wish I was gooder at physics.
The annoyance of ads goes up exponentially when there is animation. Sure, it limits the attention you can grab with it, and maybe the potential advertisers you can work with, but remember: animation SUCKS.
Yeah, Worcester is a tough place (or at least, it was in 1999 when I graduated). I still don't think they give the WPI police enough to do though - maybe they can watch the plane, instead of harass good kids like me.
It's rendered in-game, but they just made the render buffer huge, or divided the frustum into separate camera shots that were pasted later. That's it - common cheat to get big shots. But, I can tell you, I've played this game and it ROCKS.

Will someone PLEASE try to write a new version of Code Red (call it Code Blue?) that innoculates computers against Code Red? I mean really.. I can't write it, as I've never written a virus/trojan/etc.. But those of you who can should know a challenge when you see it.
I think MS is in a deal with Nokia to create some vaporous competition to hype up the importance of the Xbox. My.02

Really people, when you take all that shit out of windows and only run the core (no services, a couple processes, simple memory management), it's not that bad of an OS for gaming. As an Xbox developer, I haven't found that much to cry about - at all. There are some bugs, but they have workarounds and have to do with the graphics hardware. It basically feels like DOS with a bunch of Win32 libraries... You could never run Excel on it;)
the xbox gfx hardware is just two Geforce3's, as far as I know. It's based on the NV20, and will be called the NV2a. I betcha drivers will be easier to reverse eng.
Artists and Programmers might as well be two completely different things. Not for any logical reason, but because the both sets of people DO NOT want to be confused with each other.
I think frinsore was trying to say "Artists and Programmers have to know alot of the same stuff - can't we just smack them together and make an uber-artist-programmer and forget about the differences?" No, Frinsore, keep trying. If you've been in the game industry for more than a month, you'll know that you cannot give both the same title. You can create some very good communication between the two, with lots of things learned about each other's trade, but you can't create an artist-programmer Frankenstein and expect to get the best of both worlds without losing quite a bit from each. There are huge differences in attitude, attention span, purpose, and social circles..
Thank you.
Katz, you have got to get off the dope.. Snatch was definitely NOT so fast that you didn't get a chance to get to know the characters. Maybe it is bad to have ADD - but it's gotta be worse to be dead as a log.

For when you dump core.
Haven't the Boy Scouts of America copyrighted the initials BSA?
If they can, they should. O ironic precedent.

He tied up a couple Czech heavies with duct tape, and then used hay bail wire to take care of the rest, before fleeing into Austria.

Instead I had to read real books. Drat.

Face it - the industry (and most people) want pretty boys, unless your music is extremely unique... And your music's not that unique.
