Seriously, if SCO has a linux distro out there, then it must be released under the GPL, which means that the sourcecode is freely viewable, and the ANYONE can modify any way they see fit, so long as they provide the proper documentation along with the newly modified code, right? (Correct me if I'm wrong here, I haven't been reading my GPL nightly as the/. poll says) If SCO has a Linux distro out there, wouldn't they have used some of the great UNIX code that has taken more than 20 years to perfect?? And if they did, wouldn't that mean it is already free to the world and that is whole case is a bunch of bull??
I don't think SCO has much of a case, except that they have been flooding the media with propaganda. I do believe that SCO believes they are right in this case, and that their ultimate goal is that they want to OWN Linux. They aren't stupid, they see that Linux (one day, maybe not soon, maybe not even in the distant future, but..) will one day be the most widely used OS.
Not that I'm complaining or anything, but Slashdot is helping to host links to illegal copies of Reloaded. Now the MPAA will start blaming Slashdot instead of BitTorrent. Thanks for the links though man.
On a serious note... how can I find out when or if the "Super DMCA" will be passed in my state? I'd like to show up to protest against it. I've read it's already been passed in Pennsylvania. That would mean that the company I work for could be in some serious doodoo for having PIX firewalls.
The idea that this was posted on/. today is bullshit. The project is 2+ years old, and the page hasn't been updated since then. Is/. really hurting for posts? I thought/. got sooooo many submits for topics that they threw away most of them. This is *old* news. However, the idea that you can play GB and GBA games using Bluetooth and GSM is very cool.
URI has implemented packateers to limit how much bandwidth P2P apps can use. Before school even got in session this year, around %90 of URI's pipe was being used by Kazaa. P2P software sucks and will take as much bandwidth as you allow it.
In the beginning of the article he said he bought a G4 Powerbook, then goes on to say he had an iBook. If he knew how much he paid for it, then he should most certainly know which one he got. A Powerbook can cost nearly twice as much as an iBook.
That article kinda sucked. Not many details or anything. It said Apple was on top, but then I felt like the rest of it was about Dell and what they are doing to make their support better. Crap if you ask me. I bet the poll taken from the Consumer Reports web site isn't all that accurate either. Hell, if the link to the poll were posted on/. then the poll would have definatly been bogus because we all would have gone their, voted up for who we liked best, then gone back and voted down for everyone else.
You are even more gay for modding that. Anyone who wishes to see Titanic on anything, even a 3" black and white is gay. GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY
You are incorrect. Must I explain this again after the last IMAX/. article? Omni uses different film than IMAX. It uses multiple films. Visit an Omni theatre and see for yourself... they usually display the projector/film behind glass so you can see what makes the movie look like it does.
No books? No paper? I'm a CS student entering my senior year... let me tell you that there is no way in hell I would have passed all of my physics classes without the all-nighter in the library. And math? How can you do REAL math without paper? The formulas you need to work out... it's just too hard to do on an iPaq or whatever. I can't imagine taking paperless exams in all of my classes. My CS classes even give us paper exams. Reading is reading, but reading out of a book and off of a computer screen are two very different experiences. Schollars have been using books for thousands of years and it has worked. If it ain't broke, don't fix it (or eliminate it for that matter).
What if someone were to drop an EMP in Iowa? All of those students would lose all of their credits because there would no longer be any record of it.
Lot's of luck with that project Iowa, but this/. reader thinks it's only circling the drain.
Wasn't a bill just recently passed that would give hackers the death penalty? Is this the loop hole we've all been looking for to eliminate the media conglomerates? Hell, they can DoS me if it's going to get them the death penalty.
HACK THE PLANET!!!

First post. Karma: bad. Mod: Troll.
I sent in a rebate for my Logitech MX700 mouse over three months ago and never got it. Cheap bastards.

Each individual letter would still be backwords.
"...are Linux and OS/X going to be left out in the cold as this new standard is pushed by MS..." Since when does Microsoft set standards?
You don't run 8 miles
"Microsoft's new licensing terms stipulate they can't sell PC's without an OS...."That sounds like bull to me.
"...caught with their pants down..." it should have been "...caught with their pants half off..."

(20 second pause for /. code)
Virtual Sex with Jenna Jameson by Wicked Pictures on IMAX.
Terminator 2? This is only the beginning...
Take a physics class other than high school physics and these things will become more clear.
I had to do a project in Scheme for one of my CS classes. I hate Scheme! But it is very easy to learn, and good for AI.

It's all about the significant figures man.

Shut up you anonymous coward. Someone should mod him down. gwahahahahahahaha
