I'm a lefty also and I've never had an issue adapting to various game controllers. When you start from a point where neither hand has been trained yet, you just naturally build up muscle memory/skill in each hand for the given task.
I always use my right hand for my mouse. When I've sat at somebody's desk who has it on the left side, I'll move the mouse to the right side, otherwise it will take me twice as long to do tasks involving the mouse.
When I play baseball, I have no problem catching with my right hand - I don't have to think about it. If I borrow a glove from a right handed thrower, I have a difficult time catching and feel very uncoordinated - I've just never practiced that way.
This is the same old story, and it is a very old story indeed.
I've been reading a lot of Civil War history lately, especially about the political and economic factors leading up to the war. As the north was industrializing, many craftsmen and factory workers were making the exact same complaints about the factory owners and bankers who were making all the money but had no "skills" to actually create the textiles, weapons, furniture, etc.
Things haven't changed that much in the last 160 years.
And that graphic itself was not created in PowerPoint (in all likelihood).
I hate PowerPoint as much as the next guy, but PowerPoint has nothing to do with the absurdity of that slide.
Technically, this doesn't eliminate float - it just transfers it from one party to another. One party loses interest by having the funds transferred out faster, while the other party gains the extra interest by having the funds transferred in faster.
I loved that game too.
My daughter's birthday is tonight at a Chuck E. Cheese - wondering if they still have that game there? That would be awesome!!!!
You should feel better.
The cost of living in India is considerably cheaper than the US. When I traveled there for business, I took out 40 developers in our offshore office to a very nice restaurant. The total bill was $200. The kind of meal we got there would have cost at least $25 per person here - probably even more.
MySQL is an inferior product but since everybody else is using it, we shouldn't look at alternatives.
I guess this explains how Microsoft got where they are.
Why is this modded funny? The full quote is "This article is in Japanese, but as they say, a few pictures are worth a million words."
Am I missing something?
This is the "code name" they are using right now. It's unlikely this will be the launch name.
Also, according to Wikipedia:
"Microsoft director Alex Kipman, who incubated the project,[28] chose to name it after the Brazilian city Natal as a tribute to his country of origin,[1] and because the word natal means "of or relating to birth", reflecting Microsoft's view of the project as "the birth of the next-generation of home entertainment" "
If they could etch something onto the fruit that indicated its ripeness/flavor (by changing color), that would be exciting.
Except for bananas, I am pretty lousy at doing this.
Good idea - I'll use my wife's laptop as a guinea pig too.
I'll just blame any problems on her lack of computer knowledge. She won't know the difference.
When I'm watching with my wife, she sometimes uses the commercial break to have a conversation with me about any number of things.
She'll actually say, "Don't fast forward, I want to talk for a few minutes." This often leads to the longer than 2.5 minutes discussion since I have to spend a lot of time apologizing for the inadvertent eye roll. But at no time am I actually watching the commercial. She makes me put it on mute.
That's why I try not to watch TV with her so much.

I was going to suggest Barbara Billinsley apply for a job, but you beat me to it.

I guess I know which tablet I'll be taking into the bathroom.

I find your lack of artistic appreciation disturbing.
I'm assuming you didn't RTFA, but if you did, then you have major comprehension issues. And who the hell modded this insightful?

I didn't know an Etch A Sketch was a touchscreen device, much less pressure sensitive. I would like to buy yours.
Do the non-smoking graphic designers have a different preference?
I think "iPaidTooMuch" would be available also.

So then why didn't they just harvest the shit out of the "unobtanium" in the mountains instead of the big tree?
If they posted a picture of what they normally dress like, I could tell them very quickly whether or not uniforms are a good idea.

Your poor spelling corroborates the fact that you would make a lousy tester.
And don't forget the A-Bomb

Are you a Buddhist monk by any chance? You seem very unfazed by something that would make me want to put my fist through my laptop screen.

Since when did code optimized for speed go out of fashion?
