Presumably you are thinking about dual-layer pressed (i.e. commercial) DVDs, that aren't burned at all, but physically made from a master.

I cringe at that use of 'physically'. Are you saying that burning DVDs is not a physical process? If so, is it something supernatural?

Something I personally would like to see is all the ports on the back of the board turned into headers, with ribbon cables to mount the ports anywhere you want. You could put them in a row on the back, and only use the ones you need or want.

Good point. I have an EPIA MII and it has plenty of headers onboard, such as parallel, extra USB, extra 1394, LVDS. I find most of the back-panel ports useful so I don't mind the current setup. The problem is getting those extra dongles for the actual ports; in the end the headers are just non-standard variants, and who wants non-standard? For example, if I want a parallel port on my MII, I'll either have to buy one made by VIA or roll my own, neither of which is the most convenient option.

Even though they look identical the system has two separate ports for keyboard and mouse. Why? There is no logical reason (except bad engineering) for this, and definitely does not help usability

They use a different pin for data. Laptops have a single PS/2 connector which works for both mice and keyboards, and with a splitter cable they can be plugged in at the same time.

The question is, why don't all PS/2 ports have both data pins? I guess you could confuse your system with, say, two keyboards, because the system can't handle them separately. Thus I agree that USB would be a lot better.
