I'm old enough to remember when broadband to the home was new. DSL was $50/month. At my apartment, they wanted $80/month for 1.5Mbps. I now can get 8Mbps for $40/month. DSL was down to $15/month.
So, prices did drop.
Now they are bundling and offering "faster" service to keep prices up. I think this is totally inline with declines in tech prices. Every year new PC's are brought out at the same price points but with more or faster or better. PC price drops have stopped too.
I don't see any conspiracy or screwing.
My insurer offers identity theft coverage. If your identity was stolen, call the police, file a report, and get your insurer to cough up the dough to fix it.
Paul even suggested that we should try to be "all things to all people". I agree that this serves no useful purpose other than to expose media condemnation.
I don't think prohibition of the substance creates demand. That just doesn't even make sense. Prohibition exists because it matches a majority of people's moral expectations of the society. Demand exists because people are weak, depressed, lacking in self control, etc. Rather than blame prohibition, blame people who are weak, depressed, lacking in self control, etc.
As to why people are weak, depressed, lacking in self control, etc., I think you can find many reasons for this including weak/no fathers, poor education, poor opportunities due to poor education and weak parenting.
Legalizing the habit may reduce cartels; more likely they will just incorporate. It won't reduce demand, fix families, or increase opportunities. The only way to do those things is to have moral/strong people that have kids and raise them well. Unfortunately, the idea of family is under attack from many outside influences such as TV, movies, laziness, et
I'm convinced that Apple has put out iOS4 with at least one bug that users find mildly annoying (like failing to send emails with photos). That way once an exploit is discovered in the new OS release they have reasons for users to upgrade.
MS doesn't make PC's as far as I know. Maybe they have watched Apple be successful with their integrated hardware and software and want to duplicate their success.
I had to reimage my father's PC, a 2005 Dell, using the built-in system restore feature. Now he has AOL and Norton that is seriously out of date!!! This stuff never dies.
It took another 30 minutes for me to remove all the crap and put on newer versions of other crap.
The only way China can peg its currency to the dollar is for there to be US Treasury bonds for sale. So, I think that Congress' spending is actually to blame for China's currency value.
Taxes were not intended to change behavior, but they do. There is no way to avoid it unless you tax something everyone wants to do (earn money and spend money).
To that end, I think a single world government should establish the correct volume and content of food that each person should eat so as to maximize life expectancy. Furthermore, the single world government should determine if, when, and how many children every woman should have and with whom to ensure that only the healthiest, brightest, fastest, best looking people survive. If we only had such a central planner that could perfectly execute this plan to ensure the survival of homo sapiens.
Why watch when you can be making babies? I see a baby-boom in our future.
I hate the f****** passengers in this f****** car.
What do you expect when you advertise your new software that replaces an old bad one?

Why should we let their anger stop us?
Why should a company care? Someone else in your position is going to grad school right now and can fill it when needed.
How many movies predict mass deaths from some virus gone rogue? I'm sure these viri are safe now, but later?

I appreciate jailbreaking, but security is more important. What about older devices? Maybe McAfee or Symantec will have a solution.
I think you assume that some smart, all-knowing human would do better, but history has shown that to be a false assumption.

I think this is totally fair, but I hate coffee. Can I buy something else that is over priced?
I don't understand your graph, therefore I believe you.
Rather than generalize about education vs. war funding, why don't you find a bunch of top-notch teachers that were laid off and put them on the news.
There are just too many dudes even if they have clothes on, so I stopped "playing".

But MP3 has been available for years. Unless Apple (or some other MP3 player company) creates is own label, it won't get distributed for $$$.
800.com offered 3 DVD's for cheap and killed themselves doing so. Price drove it.

Just make it illegal to sell US Treasuries to foreign owners. Seems like it might be treason to do so anyways.
