I lost my left hand, severed below the elbow. I have been keeping an eye on advances prosthetics but thought it would be very difficult for me to control as my hand feels like it's in a fixed position so it would be hard to coordinate the output of my nerves without any feedback. The big advance talked about here is the signal coming back to the brain to make the limb feel like part of the person rather than something just hanging off, which is what prosthetics feel like to me. I have one but I never use it for this reason. Bring on the feedback!
I sure hope PS3 Linux doesn't take someone more than a month or two because I've never bought a console but the prospect of linux on a cell would be the biggest motivating factor I've had yet.
(As someone who currently has the MRSA infection) With MRSA the flesh isn't always "being eaten away". I contracted it in hospital after being 90% burnt in '98 through an electrical accident and it slowed my healing considerably, even now grazes etc. take much longer to heal, but that's pretty much it. I just have to be hygienic to avoid passing it on. Maybe my immune system was more resistant than most, I don't know. I hear these stories of the superbug and the effects it can have, so I know I'm lucky, but I for one am not keen to get this stuff tested on me, tell me when the tests are done.
I have been thinking about building my own device to replace the WASD, etc. controls as I lost my left hand nearly 10 years ago, maybe using a tilt board adaptation of a joystick on the floor to use with my feet. At the moment I just use the keys with the end of my arm, which is not very effective, this sounds like a good ready made solution to try.
'Which is common-sense as you can never legally drive them like that on our bodgey streets.'
I should have used some common-sense instead of taking my subaru for a high speed spin through the country side (around Galston, North of Sydney) after about 4 hours of Colin Mcrae 4. I would have avoided cutting it in half and a month in a coma. At least no-one else got hurt.
That's the reason I sit in a rather uncomfortable, but very stable old chair with very little padding at my PC. It makes driving so much better, a friend who used to be into driving simulations used to swear by his padded swivel chair, but I think that is one of the reasons he is becoming less interested in driving sims (GT Legends, GTR and Richard Burns Rally are my current favourites).
I'm actually a quicker typist now that I have lost my left, I used to be a lousy typist but now that I only have 3 useful fingers, my mental map of the keyboard has become a lot better through necessity.
A bionic arm would make the WASD easier for FPS though, if they can get it that good.
'This is unlikely to be an evolved response since in the wild a creature with this
level of brain damage would be lucky to survive 19 hours.'
If you read the FTA, it was 24 hours before he was found after his accident.
"We aren't earning anything by going on that internet."
Speak for yourself buddy.

'Isn't good enough for you? The prize for abolishing disease, starvation, education and humanity isn't worthy?'
Abolishing education and humanity is worthy is it?

'That's fine, and as long as they all agree to what they are doing, have at.'
huh?...THAT'S confusing to say the least.
Crazy version....

......but I'd rather have one of these

Just how much is Hexus paying for the Slashvertisements? It probably wouldn't be so obvious if there were more than one article in between them.
'my ear still isn't at "peak efficiency". Won't make that mistake twice.'
It could be beneficial to make the mistake twice... at least your hearing would be balanced.

I'm an aussie but I'd hardly call it snow country, I've been to the best on offer but if I mentioned powder they thought I was after drugs.
I'm surprised no-ones made an Angelina Jolie reference yet, weren't 'razor' and 'blade' nicks used in that movie 'Hackers'.
If it turns out to be true they may regret naming it like it was designed by first year engineering students "101"
These guys must be into some serious overclocking by the look of their cooling system.

I think the entire community should 'congratulate' them on their actions. (Use a plausible business enquiry for the subject, so they have to open it)

Thanks for the lesson in the american language (prep), because it's definately not english.
I only partially RTFA but I can't see any mention of SLI, 1 Gb of video memory is a dream.
