These aren't "mistakes". At best it is negligence, and it's intentional. The sad part is that people sanctify the authorities and tell us we should accept it, and they reward the job to exactly the wrong kind of people, those that want it.
It's just as bad, if not worse than the tar sands. If we are going to insist on using biofuels, do it with algae ponds out in the middle of the ocean somewhere.
How nice when one is available, that actually competes!
there are already layers of reprieve, Antitrust action, FCC itself, Justice Dept
Most of us prefer not to have to go to court every time the service goes to shit. Let's make a preemptive attack on that right now, it will save us time and fees. If the government wants to go one better it could nullify all state/local regulations that prohibit municipal/public internet and other exclusive contracts that lock out competition.
Canada is no help. They'll take stuff down at the drop of a hat also. I'm thinking it needs to be done in a 'bittorrent' type fashion, with thousands of backups. If we can't make censorship impossible, let's at least make it impractical.
The only reason we don't have net neutrality now is because there is no competition. The far better solution would be to outlaw exclusive franchises. The market has to be pried open. And a good way to do that is to make the companies compete against a municipality/state provided service. Net neutrality should naturally follow.
The "market" can only work if people are allowed to use their government to play with the big boys. Just like communism, in capitalism the individual has no clout or say in anything. The power is in the collective, the economy of scale.
We all expected the republicans to vote for it, but 44 didn't. With those votes the democrats could have stopped it, but didn't. In truth they're not really against it. So they throw in just enough votes to squeeze it through, and make various excuses. You can save your breath, the renewals will pass no matter who is swinging the gavel.
It is sad to see such mistakes

Everybody is for this, so let it go...

See? that's the problem. This is what happens when you try to defend yourself against a bully. This is why we are where we are.
*Just a slob like one of us?*
Let's see...
Yeah? Let's you outrun a Motorola
You know, back when spies, and/or their boss had to buy their own equipment and install and maintain it themselves?
Who said anything about "genetically engineered"?
It's hard to take anything you write seriously.
It already has. Well, I'm not sure it's sentient, but it does walk upright.

What do you think the modern airline pilot does? Don't worry, even the "babysitting" job will be automated soon enough.
*Who'll babysit the babysitters?*
Doesn't lose them anything either.
Do you deliver?
So, if I shout "FIRE!" in a crowded theater, I can just say it was an "accident"? I suppose, with the right connections...
The guy responsible should at least have to wear a pink tutu and dance the "Sugar Plum Fairy" downtown during rush hour.
Yes, bitcoin is a commodity, not a currency. As such, it's pretty worthless, truly *faith based*. Even casino chips are easier to cash in.

This way nobody can take them down. The internet is worthless if anybody can decide what can or cannot be posted.
The government represents the people. They have just as much right to compete as anybody.

The speeds are lower, the roads and boundaries are better defined. I wouldn't ride one on a twisty mountain road in Bolivia though.

Might there be a valid reason we need this law that both parties in congress actually recognizes?
No, but I have always acknowledge that the majority isn't really against it. Doesn't make it right, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.
Need this always be attributed to some nefarious intent?
History speaks for itself. It's just the way people play. *I can accept that*.

Are they still orange?
