You should have learned your lesson long ago about rogers@home email service. Were you around when it took up to a week for an email to get delivered? Their track record is horrible. I use these guys for nothing but a wire, all email/webhosting etc I either do myself or get it through another company that is actually dependable.
If someone says "I've been waiting for this", they are not implying anything, they just fucking said what they want explicitly. Who are you to judge what is desireable to another man?
Actually daikatana is the perfect example of how big review sites are NOT honest. They hyped that game up as the greatest thing since sliced bread for months leading up to release and it was only AFTER the fansites tore it to shreds that the big boys jumped on the bandwagon.
You have to question the integrity of a review site that will post an "unbiased" review along with a banner ad for that game and a "quick-buy" link directly in the review.
When is the last time you saw a big money game get trashed by a big name review site? I bet you have to think pretty hard. So can we conclude that no bad games have been out for a long time then? Didn't think so.
I think the best sites for honest reviews are the smaller non-commercial sites. They call a spade a spade.
As opposed to you, the last true defender of freedom and all that is true and good blah blah blah.
Three cheers for our hero, yatest5!
*yawn*
If you really do believe that everyone that posts on slashdot is "a hypocritical fuckwit" then do yourself a favour and stop visiting the site. No let me rephrase that... do EVERYONE a favour and stop visiting the site. Moreover, see if you can find a plastic bag big enough to fit over your bloated head and hold it tight around your neck so no "hypocritical fuckwit" air gets in. A couple minutes of that and you won't have any more problems with "hypocritical fuckwits" ever again.
So because most shipping companies have been screwing over customers in situations like this that makes it o.k.?
Just because this poor sod was naive doesn't mean it's ok for people/corporations to take advantage of him.
Your arguement is just about as lame as the classic "it's her fault she got raped, she shouldn't have been walking in the park at that time of night!". Obviously someone beat the shit out of his gear. Anyone with half an ounce of common sense can see that this was not accidentally dropped but literally worked over. Look at how extensive the damage is... you would have to go out of your way to break something that badly.
I don't care what they put on their signs or in their small print. UPS should take responsibility for this and foot the bill.
the flavour of the month is kaza and morpheus. Both install with sharing turned on by default so regardless of whether or not the student understands the implications of this, (they often don't) significant school bandwidth is consumed by people who have no affiliation whatsoever with the school.
Listen up whippersnapper, let me tell you about the REAL old days of computing.
We used 2 tin cans and binder twine to network our systems. User A would yell out binary into his can while user B would furiously write down 1's and 0's on a pad. As you can imagine there were some inherent problems with this system. If you ran out of paper in the middle of executing an application you got a "general page fault". This term is still used today. Another bit of trivia for you: Each pad shipped with a blue cardboard backing on it to provide some amount of support while you were writing. Unfortunately when you flipped over that last usable sheet of paper you would see "the blue sheet of death" and your program would terminate. We used the acronym B.S.O.D. to describe this nasty event.
I could go into our cornflakes box/wax paper speaker systems but I think you get the general idea.
So use the older version. Nobody is holding a gun to your head and saying "upgrade or die!"
People write software that makes full of current technology. If your technology isn't current then maybe you shouldn't be trying to run that software. It makes sense to me.
Christ man, at least read up on statistics so you can have the appearance of running with the AC in this discussion. You misunderstand him/her, you don't even grasp their crystal clear point and their challenge still stands.
Your logic in this post is "I saw some people post on slashdot then I saw more people post on slashdot so I can safely assume they are more or less the same people"
WRONG
They could be exactly the same group of people, some of the same people, or none of the same people. The simple fact is that you CAN'T safely assume that. That is what I said initially and later what the AC said (much more succinctly too).
If you had half a brain you would concede the point and move on.
If you hadn't noticed yet there are quite a few people who post on slashdot. These people in many cases have differing opinions. While one person may say "kill em all!" another more moderate person may post in the defense of free speech online. This is not hypocrisy. These are TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE voicing their opinions. I hate to deprive you of your righteous indignation since you seem to be enjoying it so much but your allegations are completely groundless.

Sorry to say but a lot of those "angelic acts" had alterior motives. They helped rebuild japan to ensure a military staging point close to the western european front. For every legitimate gov't they helped support there are 3 more coups they engineered or illegitimate leaders they propped up.
By lumping a pile of vastly different political situations in with what is certainly a tragedy, the author attempts to legitimize some very questinable acts. It's in poor taste to use this tragedy to push a political agenda.
You know it's possible to correct someone without talking down to them. Because the original poster said something you don't agree with therefore he must be "below you" in age or social standing? Nice logic.
Yeah but coke wears off too fast for this situation... you need something with longer lasting effects unless you are prepared to make a trip to the bathroom every 20 mins.
methamphetamines don't calm you down, they do exactly the opposite: They rev you up. You feel like you could run the 100 meter dash in under 10 seconds.
As for the feeling of "speed of thought", that's exactly what it is - a feeling, nothing more.

It's all what you're used to. I started out playing Q1 in 320x240 software mode and even when I got a voodoo card I still played in software mode. Why? Because GLQuake felt the tiniest bit different and threw off my timing a little bit. At that time I was playing enough ( read: day and night) that I would notice even the slightest difference.
When Q2 came out I *HATED* it (still do in fact). It just feels all wrong.

Hey give the guy a break, it's not like he actually took the time to think his arguement through before he barfed it out through his keyboard!
