Well, I was a bit disappointed in it, and here's why:

Because they went third-person 3D, the towns and world are kinda small (compaired to the other Ultimas). I was used to having to TRAVEL to get somewhere, in Ultima IX, it wasn't much of a travel as much as a small walk... And there aren't that many "side quests" to work on, either...

Other than that, the game was relatively long, and the story is pretty good. Graphics are great, but I woulda accepted worse graphics for a bigger world...

I say give'r a go. The last in the story, so might as well wrap it up...

I have to reach into my memory, but I believe the "CircleMud" codebase was skill based, not level based. Get a coder to add wizzbangs, and you have this "tradesman class" EQ2 will have.

If you really think about it, the system that EQ and UO use are just glorified mud codebases. The graphics add quite a bit, and the network code would HAVE to change (although, from the stories I've heard about UO's lag...), but when you get down to the nitty gritty, its just a mud system.

Making it skill based so you don't have to do the 'hack-n-slash' thing was introduced in muds a long time ago. Actually, this would probably be "considered" copying from UO's skill system (although UO was the first MUD with graphics).

Honestly, your average consumer doesn't watch TV on his/her computer (not a whole lot watch DVD's on their machines, either. Especially if they own a DVD player for their TV).

TiVo/replayTV makes life easier for the person that comes home, sits in their couch, and flips on the tube (it gives them something THEY want to watch, regardless of time).

This is why TiVo/replayTV is successful, and "computer digital VCR"'s don't.

Not everything is better if you put it on your computer.
