They will be mutually incompatible. You can't use PGPDisk with Classic in X (fails to mount) and you can't use AES images in MOS9.
To convert, you'll have to copy your data out into unencrypted space via PGPDisk in MOS9, boot into X to copy your data into an AES image, and do a good wipe of your unencrypted data. The AES image can also be stored and mounted from a server, while PGPDisk didn't like that.
My concern would be that connecting them to Microsoft's network would enable exploits, viruses, spam, and other fun to cross IM clients (sort of how Klez affects everyone, not just Outlook users). Anyone else share this concern?
Part of this is user and manager education. We should be watching IT initiatives and bidding processes to make sure that real web standards are being used (HTML 4.0.1 / XHTML 1.0 / WAI). Weedle your way into any "web" project and point out that rather than being held hostage to Microsoft, it would be a good idea to give management the flexibility to move to another browser should M$'s pricing/subscription/upgrade policy become untolerably abusive.
On the user end of things, simply point out that you can turn off pop-up advertisements in Mozilla and they say gimmie!
Agreed, I have wrapped my htdig in a PHP readfile( ); call and used some javascript in the htdig header and long templates to do alternating table row background colors (don't forget the <noscript><tr></noscript> as a fallback if you do this).
Not to mention that you can do all sorts of neat things with underwater lights, air pumps, and hoses. Heck, who needs fish, it's just fun to set up the gadgets in the aquarium!
Of course there's always the caloric restriction that can theoretically extend life. Probably best to minimise sugar, but who wants to do that? Eat, drink and be merry?
Probably a good strategy on their part... sell more new machines with MOSX rather than having a bunch of ancient (and IMHO junk) machines still living on with Linux.
Sorry digit numbered Mac fans, those were Apple's worst efforts. I won't use anything now that's pre-USB.
I'm currently using a 500Mhz PowerBook G3 (Pismo, bronze translucent keyboard) with 320 MB RAM. The CD-ROM I almost never use and have substituted a second battery for an 8-10 hour battery life! If battery life is the main priority, one of these used could be what you're looking for.
Notes: If you use any Classic (MacOS 9) apps in it or Photoshop, get more than 320 MB RAM. You'll probably also want to get a newer hard drive than what came with them... something with a 2MB cache. It's large and heavy compared with the small iBook.
I was wondering if we could subvert the system... say collect money to add Vivaldi to a rock station and bluegrass to rap stations. May be a project for rtmark.com.

IMNSHO, this is a way to trick you into doing their work for them.
It sounds like she just wants more face time with you in meatspace. Make some time to turn off the computer equipment each day and give her your undivided attention. When it seems like she wants to talk, turn off the monitor/put laptop to sleep, etc. and look at her.
There's a difference between a "contributing factor" and a direct cause. Certainly it's more dangerous to rear-end some yo-yo at 120 mph who dropped his cigarette and swerved into your lane than rear-ending that same yo-yo at 60 mph. The cause would be the yo-yo, speed would be a " contributing factor".
Having said that, when doing 120mph, you should have a healthy respect for the stupidity, lack of skill, and inattention of other drivers.
Seriously, though, this could be the basis of an ultra-low power web server cluster, complete with battery backup.
It's still too big and bulky, but this is the beginning of the disappearance of computers from sight. The only way we'll know they're there in 20 years is from their user interfaces (display, voice, tactile).
Anyone working with voice recognition and synthesis in Linux? Maybe this is a good "Ask Slashdot" topic.

So they filed 70 bug reports... big deal.

But you've got to get out and evangelize.
and (this is easily fixed) ugly

I've heard/read rabbits like to chew on electrical cords.
I'll stick with sugar, in moderate quantities.

I think the theory of learned helplessness is what we're looking at here.

He probably meant a Power Computing, Umax or other Mac clone (was Sony the third?).

Of course, we could get the same fuel efficiency and reduction in pollution just by purchasing a reasonable mid-size car instead of a SUV.

I thought this was interesting. (And this.)

You forgot a few if this is a M$ movie...
The back of the ticket says entering the theatre you agree to the EULA (shown at the beginning of the movie) which states that:
Then they could be dispensed from a soda/snack style vending machine instead of a whole store.

Chemtrails
If you'll recall their network was wide open to some hacker for around a month... these are the best links I could find in two minutes: Different View Of MS Code Theft and Microsoft Hack a National Security Threat.
We can probably assume that it has been freely distributed to the best "enemy" hackers for months now.

I modified the script to point to local files and tried all links with no "success".
All a no go :^P
Awww man, I wuz gonna say that!

Or, with Mozilla, you can right-click (or control-click for Mac users) and "Block Images from this Server".
My point was, and I realize it was poorly made, is that you should give the frame and suspension of painted DeLoreans a good inspection.
Yeah, it was probably my fault for taking a square street corner at 40. But I know exactly how my Chevy would have (not) handled it.
