It was the perfect camera change to that perfect look on SL Jacksons face.

It would go to explaining some of the outrageously high hardware requirements for Longhorn, and although it is a number of years off from release, and one could argue that by the time it does come out, hardware will have caught up and come down enough in price to make it a viable option, to postulate that Longhorn is an overkill OS for 64 bit computing designed to be easily updated for 128 bit computing, is not out of the question IMHO.

Although I agree with you on the fact that until new technology makes its way into our, the consumers hands, there will be a trade off between features and longevity, One can not overstate the problems that will be associated with fuel cell batteries.
For example, what airline is going to let you get on an aeroplane carrying what amounts to a piece of electronics with a gas can atatched to it? How will you convince them that the spare fuel you are lugging around in a bright red container is for your laptop and not to set the guy beside you on fire mid flight. Remember, these people won't let grandma on the plane with a pair of nail clippers.
The other problem I can see, and I am no expert but would imagine, is in the question of, will you have to run your laptop battery on Premium gasoline? and how can you be sure that the fuel you are putting into it is of the right grade? You know what it is like if you don't put premium into your brand new Cadillac... knocks and pings, running rough and a rapp on the back of the hand by the service guy as he tells you that you are a pillock for screwing with 'their' suggested lubricants, and that your warrenty is no longer valid.
I am sure the fuel you will need will be sold in a special can at authorised dealers, read computer stores, at first, but are you going to trust, let's say 5 years through development and marketing, your expensive fuel cell battery to some no name, cheep WalMart knockoff fuel?
As for batteries now, I can't say I can comment on them as I don't use a laptop save some power usage on my Clie, which does get pretty good battery life. But from my experience, the Panasonic batteries I got with one of my portable devices lasted forever. Granted they were regular 1.5V AA batteries, but consider that Panasonic is the worlds largest producer of batteries, here at the company I work for in Japan, we use their batteries in our own products such as UPS units, and Panasonic among other things manufactures electric bicycles under the name National here.

If your hip gets broken, a limp occurs and only through extensive retraining through physotherapy is the muscles and learned knee jerk reaction to avoid pain unlearned.
Having a physiotherapist in the immediate family and spending lots of time around recovering individuals, I have noted that people who refuse to perform their physio properly inevitably take longer to heal and revert back to normal physical movement.
The fact that this animal refuses to, can not, or will not revert back to normal movement may just be an indication of its non-complete healing. I believe time will tell on this one.

I have a NTT DoCoMo cell phone, and although I use white listing to only allow the few people who actually have my private number to reach me, another form of spam goes on here that does not involve e-mail or text message.
Here seedy companies, usually based in Tokyo phone your number and hang up after 1 ring. They then bank on the fact that you will call them back figuring you missed an important call. The number that comes up on the display is for a pay per min, up front minimum charge service. When you don't pay, they actually send goons to get the money out of you.
Granted it is difficult to block numbers comming from a specific area code, especially if you live in that area. I fortunately do't live in the area where most of these calls come from, so seeing a different area code is a pretty good indication it is spam.
While white listing is a bit of a pain, and as others have pointed out may block important information you were not expecting from comming through, the amount of spam I was getting previous to turing it on was mental. something to the tune of 20 a day using a e-mail address on my phone that there is no way a name generator could come up with. I was limited to 25 characters for my name and I used a random set of numbers and letters as well as the few non-basic characters I was allowd to, and still within 20 min of setting up the account I had spam.
Now if only I could get a spam filter plugin for my phone things would be great, though I do believe the filter should be hosted on DoCoMo's end and configureable by myself.

I was thrilled to find an insurance agent who calls it what it is, 'Just in case'.
Although self insurance in the form of dedicated consistant backups is prevention and in the long run is worth more than any amount of just in case you may recieve if something does go wrong, having some form of backup income, just in case, can alliviate the costs of reverting to backup.
Even if the funds your recieve only cover the costs of the techs salary for the time it takes them to bring your system back to last nights save, and covers one to two days loss of business caused directly from the misshap, then you are at least covered.
Expecting to gain some form of windfall just because shit happens and you feel you are due because of the stress it may have caused you in your buisiness is not practical.

Did you consider some form of projection instead of having to mount a heavy (relatively) screen from a boom in front of the eye, you can mount a fairly light relfective surface and bounce the image off it into the eye.
In this form you can use a fiber optic setup to the side of the face and project the image through a lens off the 'mirror' to the eye. At least you will not be too limited by screen resolution as such. The screen can be something as big as a laptop as long as the lens that picks up the image and transfers it to one end of the fiber does a decent job. On the other end a nice bubble lens should spread the image out nicely for you.
I messed about in my last year of design with a wearable system including a docking station for data transfer. It was purely a form study and had no working internals, but it was based on the reflection of image to the eye.
