You want me to buy a 2nd Pentium 4 just to use their 129 dollar market priced OS? I have a 2.4Ghz with 1GB of 400Mhz DDR which is obviously plenty fast to run OS X.
I want a G5 for the 64-bit AND the OS. If it is cracked to run on typical hardware and I can use an AMD64, biggity bang. But buying another P4 system when I already have one, "No thanks."
Unless they announce that the dev kits are the only P4's Apple is shipping and the actual proc will be Intel's 64-bit solution, I'm not buying a Mac in the future.
I don't want to spend a ton of dough on a P4 to run OS X when the P4 I already HAVE is more than capable of running it. I dunno this just seems to take some of the cool factor out of getting a Mac to me.
I always thought of it like having my muscle car and my Porsche of computers at my desk.
Of all the voice acting in games these days, there is usually only a handful each year (if that) that have decent enough voice acting to not make one cringe anyway.
Sure the next GTA game might be lacking without some of the celeb voices, but you'd be doing us a favor by keeping all your shitty, low rent voice actors away from all the other games that come out.
*slight fanboy rant* If everyone took a queue from Nintendo and realized that to make good games you don't NEED a full voice cast this would be a non-issue.
You don't sue the copy store that allowed the person to make photocopies, do you?
If the copy store taped them to their front windows for anyone that walked by to see you most probably could. It's essentially what Yahoo! did, only their front windows are accessible to billions of people with a few clicks.
Yet another reason why/. is becoming irrelevant and little more than a way to waste time at work.
With a reader base that knows the ins and outs of computer hardware and is a veritable treasure trove of scientific knowledge we get to read "OOO Shiny new thing!!" articles, knowing full well that you could have the fanciest hardware on the planet but it's a worthless piece of shit without useful (and in the case of games, engaging/fun) software.
Now to be more or less on topic though, I won't be buying either the Xbox or PS3 until at least 3 months after release of either so everyone ELSE finds out what's wrong w/ the hardware and the companies fix it. These days its the suckers that rush to the front of the line w/ cash in hand that get burned hardest.
I will however, probably buy the Revolution or whatever it ends up being called, shortly after release because I haven't had any regrets over early adopter purchases of Nintendo's hardware (that is to say I did w/ the Ps2 and Xbox).
It all hinges on what games are available at release (and w/ the ability to download their catalog, that makes it that much more appealing). With Nintendo I always feel that despite their being fewer games, I get to play more inventive/creative ones.
I'm excited about the new consoles but getting tired of the all the hyperbole and marketing.
"...made no mention of a PSP-friendly Universal Media Disk (UMD) format.
Why is this is such a big deal? There has been no previous mention of Advent Rising hitting the PSP. What just because Square has released a ton of games for the PS2 that means all their content will be available on a Sony game device?
That's the intent. Whether or not they actually do provide any realistic common defense for the United States is the question.
We've already seen on the news that despite the TSA being put into play, reporters are able to smuggle items they shouldn't have onto planes.
How much more safe will we really be when everyone has a card with our information on it? Seriously. What measures in terms of improving security does this create? Unless they're being checked constantly and absolutely CANNOT be forged, this is just shoveling more $$$$ into an already blazing hot furnace.
was way better than Dark Forces II. I've played both multiple times and I just think JO offers a better experience as a whole (it was the first SW game I *wanted* to finish, prior to KotOR, to see how it all worked out) And even for its time, DF II's graphics were piss poor.
I wish SWG would just die. Their complaint about there not being Jedi accessible to players is exactly how it should be based upon the time period. Now, from how it sounds, I guess just running through Mos Eisley on the right server you can see/hear numerous lightsabers being used. Launch bugs still exist, performance is abysmal and the run back and forth to get the same kill lair but in a diff. location mission is a joke.
The SNES platformers also were really weak when compared to really good games of the same genre (Super Metroid being the most obvious).
Of *ALL* the Star Wars games, the only above average ones are *both* KotOR games, JO, the X-Wing/TIE games and the first couple Rogue Squadron games. Yea KotOR II's story dies before the end but the game mechanics are still excellent.
I played a lot of Galactic Battlegrounds back in the day, but it's just Age of Empires II in a Star Wars theme. Not terribly unique. Empire at War so far has potential to be something special.
While we're on the WTF wagon, I suggest that Zonk also stop posting every fucking rumor about next gen consoles and upcoming games?
remember it's NEWS FOR NERDS, not CONJECTURE FOR HALFWITS. Rumors aren't news, they're RUMORS.
I swear I come to/. anymore just to see ridiculous shit. It's to the point where I expect to see "Xbox2 project manager burps, does this mean it'll have a hard drive?"
Link! He come to town
Come to save the princess Zelda
Ganon put her away
Now the children don't play
But they will when Link saves the day
Hallelujah!
Now Link, fill up your hearts
So you can shoot your sword of power
And when you're feeling all down
The fairy will come around
So you'll be brave
And not a sissy coward
Now Link has saved the day
For Ganon is in his grave
So now Zelda is free
And now our hero shall be
Link, I think your name shall go down into history
I grew up in Wisconsin. I wouldn't be surprised if members of the jury were intoxicated (I heard about it happening during a small time county court case in the 80's).
I guess whatever worked for him. If they had taken out innocent bystanders I might have cared more, but 2 idiots taking each other out is natural selection to me. One guy lived this time, but he's got his buddies death on his conscience and only he knows what really happened.
If his story is BS, he has to live w/ it. I know people that have been in these type of accidents and escaping w/o serious injury but knowing what happened tends to be punishment enough.
Ain't nothin' wrong with making a game that's only as long as the story you want to tell. Better than stretchin' it out and having players get bored halfway through.
New excuse for homework being unfinished: I couldn't do the report because I was dictating it to my phone and the battery died after the first 3 words.
NSFW? That's NSFVAA = Not Safe For Viewing At Anytime
to protest against fat sweaty guys protesting nanopants
*bored at work* It's Aqua _Teen_ Hunger Force
Here's my gripe about this whole deal...

Would all the stories be considered dupes if they would have been posted the day /. was down?
Get a Xbox off eBay for 25 bucks, toss in a modchip, boom instant streaming media for about 75+shipping costs. The newest Xbox Media Center is sweet.

Who's the bigger loser, the nerd or the jock or mocks him?
Seeing as how with Firefox I can add all their search features to the query window. I just click and choose what I'm looking for.

Obviously the submitter didn't even RTFA.
We want to put the attention on the games so we created this attention grabbing gimmick to do so.
Who cares if, for a few trade shows, male (and possibly some female gamers I guess) oggle boobies?

It would make too much sense to just to call your friends mobile phone to find out where they are.
If everyone is devoting their time to making Linux the number one desktop OS it can be, who's workin' on building new cars, fixing roads, etc. etc.
Sounds sorta dumb when you think about it. Unfortunately I've ran into many a uberdork who have this notion.

What company is this that's giving their sales people new laptops with every new gizmo? Are you hiring in sales?
