Anyone heard what was going on with developing the Gameboy DS gateways? IE, the gateway would let you use the 802.11 interface to play someone other the internet.
This reminds me of the Tom and Jerry chips from the Sega Saturn. One chip could great graphics while the other did great music. Alone they couldn't do much of anything.
So how does this relate to this new chip? Simple: This new chip will do great physics processing, but with low-end graphics. I could see nVidia or someone else buy them out and stick the PhysiX chip into one of their card along with (or inside of) their current vector anti-alice-the-maid powerhouses. This would create a dual architecture that would make awesome graphics, but be hard as hell to program for a while.
It simple why Firefox's usage growth has slow down to 15% (Jan-Feb) from 22% (Dec-Jan):
Februry is a short month
New releases of Firefox updates have all but stopped. Its been about 4 months since the last update
Lack of helper apps/extensions - Not much new (that is publized on places like/.)
Firefox is solid. Early adopters have it and are happy. No new updates, so new reason to download it.
No one really knows a whole lot about the new extensions because Firefox relies almost exclusively on the OSS forword of mouth. The current batch of extensions are not quite primetime so no one is pushing them.
Firefox is solid, but its reached a platue where Netscape was at 2.0. Now Firefox has to take to the next level with better advertising and new features, or fall between the cracks, just like its older brother.
Okay, it took about 40 years before we saw the current global warming trends, trends that started in the 1960's.
Give me half that time, 20 years, and show me some sort of significant climatic change from those countries that have signed on to this treaty. I also need an accounting that those countries have adhered to the protocol. Give me those two things and I will put pressure on my congressmen to accept this treaty.
This could really work. Take the basic design of the portable Tandy Color Computer 3 that had a greyscale LCD screen and redesign it a little. Make a bigger screen (line 640x480), a clam shell design, and a low cost ARM processor (/. had an article about cheap 32 bit processors a couple of months ago) with 64 megs of ram. Make sure it has either and a serial or a USB port, 1 gig flash drive, and a cheap 16 bit sound chip. If the they even come close to the Tandy design this system would last decades.
"Of course they also say people get 18.5 spam per day, and I'm tipping in at 20x that."
I can see that being accurate because of grandma's who only check their e-mail once a month. They also never post there e-mail address on web groups and web pages, and they never go into chat rooms. They have almost no Internet presence therefore they have almost no exposure to Spam harvesters.
The same thing is true of pranksters who sign up with services like Hotmail or 2d.com. They sign up, send a stupid message and never check it again.
No it doesn't. It can INSTALL K-meleon off a CD. The INSTALL program can run off a CD, but the actual K-meleon.exe cannot. It will try to save several configuration files back to the CD.
An EMBEDDED browser would be one that can RUN off a CD without having write configuration files. Ideally I would manually write a configuration or K-meleon would just with a set of predetermined defaults and just work.
You can embed the MSHTML COM object in a VB or C++ program and it will run on almost any Windows as long as they have IE 3.3 or above installed.
To Mozzila's credit, I know of at least one project that will let you use a similar technique for Firefox and Mozilla but the end client has to have a compatible version of the browser already installed on their machine.
So what I'm looking for a self-contained browser that isn't 10 years old. Sorry Cello, you were good when all I had was access to a bash shell, but your just not gonna cut now.
Ok, this look good, but what about a browser that can run off a CD in Windows? That way people like me don't have use the MSHTML plugin in my own app's I put on CDs.
Art imitating life: In ST:TNG a Klingon was found to be stealing secrets by reading information off some chips. The raw data was encoded into inert DNA chains and eventually injected into a person. In effect anyone could become a roaming hard drive and not even know it.
"The temperatures of the summer of 2003 were almost undoubtedly the highest in Europe for over 500 years."
Then what caused the extreme tempertures 500 years ago? Did a bunch of Europeans dig a bunch of oil wells in Russia and set6 them on fire for a few decades?
Also, did fossil fuels cause the summer of 2004 to be so cool?
Ummmm no. Check some facts on this, like who put forth the latest reinstatement of the draft bills:
S.89 Title: A bill to provide for the common defense by requiring that all young persons in the United States, including women, perform a period of military service or a period of civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, and for other purposes. Sponsor: Sen Hollings, Ernest F. [SC] (introduced 1/7/2003) Cosponsors (None) Related Bills: H.R.163 Latest Major Action: 1/7/2003 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on Armed Services.
H.R.163 Title: To provide for the common defense by requiring that all young persons in the United States, including women, perform a period of military service or a period of civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, and for other purposes. Sponsor: Rep Rangel, Charles B. [NY-15] (introduced 1/7/2003) Cosponsors (14) Related Bills: S.89 Latest Major Action: 2/3/2003 House committee/subcommittee actions. Status: Executive Comment Requested from DOD.
Hey wait, the sponsors are Democrats, not Republicans! Who are the cosponsors?
Rep Abercrombie, Neil [D-HI] Rep Brown, Corrine [D-FL] Rep Christensen, Donna M. [D-VI] Rep Clay, Wm. Lacy [D-MO] Rep Conyers, John, Jr. [D-MI] Rep Cummings, Elijah E. [D-MD] Rep Hastings, Alcee L. [D-FL] Rep Jackson, Jesse L., Jr. [D-IL] Rep Jackson-Lee, Sheila [D-TX] Rep Lewis, John [D-GA] Rep McDermott, Jim [D-WA] Rep Moran, James P. [D-VA] Rep Stark, Fortney Pete [D-CA] Rep Velazquez, Nydia M. [D-NY]
So, Democrats, not evil Republicans, were completely and totally instituting the draft. Why? Simple: To give MTV and other liberal group fodder to try to throw at the president, to accuse him of trying to get the draft back. The left leaning groups were purposely to DISENFRANCHISE youth voters with a falsehood. This is as low as some of the tactics of MS and SCO against Linux.

It would the first major file system upgrade since including FAT32 in Win95C.
They can also use WinXP people to do unpaid beta testing of thier file system, before they include support on a server platform such as Win2003.
The only good times to quit is...
Quitting any other time would seem just nuts.
My 2 cents.

"a NASA geophysicist theorizes that the quake compacted the Earth enough to speed up the planet's rotation by 3 microseconds."
Thats alright, it all works out in the end. You see everytime we launch a explortion vehicle we loose a nanoscopic amount of rotation speed.
How many different ways can I have a (nearly) real time conversation on the internet? Let me count the ways...
Jabber, IRC, e-mail, telnet BBS, OGG streaming, MSN, blogs comments, FTP text files, watermarked photo, web cams, GoToMeeting.com, MUDs, chess tourneys, internet faxing, slashdot, VOIP, SSH, SMS, P2P....
Did I forget any? Oh yeah, someone could make a custom protocal.

"deceptive, dangerous, and democratically illegitimate"
The EU Concil is anything but democratic. They make arbitrary decisions by whoever has the loudest voice at the moment.
Send those jobs to Toledo. Our government is into massive deficit spending.
We need work!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine an animated version of "What The". Aelita and crew VS Warlock. How about Funky Cops vs Mojo?
I wrote a VB program years ago for the Win95 to solve this problem. I just had the scheduler run my program that rebooted the system for me.
Umm.... Duh
