I also have a Jolla phone and preordered Jolla tablet. You can definitely install Google Play to it.
Sailfish might not be OS for everyone, but for long time linux user like myself, it is great compared to alternatives. Needs some work to get it just right, but after that I really like it.
The tunneling goes through different kind of defects in the oxide material (crystal imperfections impurities etc). I guess in this case the RTA (rapid thermal annealing) improves the oxide quality by removing the crystal imperfections ( by rearraging the oxide in high temperature) and maybe by gathering the impurities by diffusion...
You can automatically cut commercials off in VDR with noad . You can have web based user interface and autotimer by using vdradmin. Other benefits of VDR are for example DVD plugin, mp3 plugin and mplayer plugin, which makes VDR able to play almost any media with single remote. If there is some feature missing, it will be developed and features won't be hindered for whatever reason in future. Can same be said about Tivo?
My research area is silicon based optoelectronics and we are trying to fabricate efficient light emitting silicon based components. Basic components are made from MOS-structures with incorporated excess silicon to the silicon dioxide layer. After this the device is annealed at high temperature and the excess silicon forms so called nanocrystals inside the oxide. This allows the direct electron transition like in III-V group semiconductors.
In basic structures the efficiency is however very poor. All kinds of tricks are needed in order to get the efficiency in range of direct bandgap semiconductors. We do not know yet if it is possible:)
One of the reasons to use silicon for IC technology is its very good native oxide. You can produce dielectric with breakdown voltages of 10MV/cm with only annealing in oxygen. Think about it 100 nm of silicon dioxides breakdown voltage is over 100 V!
I have advance mame cabinet with linux. Few reasons to use linux. I use LAN to maintain my cabinet. It is much easier than staring 640x480 max resolution arcade monitor and uploading the games. I've got ps/2 trackball and 2 usb act-labs light guns. I don't know if it's eaven possible to make them work on dos. I did get the light guns working with windows xp (doesn't work at least with w2k) and house of the dead 2. In xp mame is slower than in linux. Also I've found that UAE (amiga emulator) seems to be more stable in linux, at least for playing micromachines.
the lack of any input/output jacks other than headphone-out kind of sucks meaning that I have to use the headphone-out with the fm-transmitter and line-in on the car and no recording without shelling out another $60 for the fm/mic remote;
nomad jukebox 3 has:
- Analog/Optical Line-In for direct recording from external audio devices
- Headphone-out + 2 line outs.
and I'm using it with linux with latest libnjb and gnomad2:
Yes 44.1 and 48KHz wav formats are the important onces for recording. After that you can transfer the file to pc via firewire and do whatever you want to the file. No limitations. Btw with jb3 you can also copy cd:s via optical input and device even cuts tracks ready for you.
I heard that they weren't too keen to take a bath in France at the time of Ludvig XIV (1638-1715). People weared a necklas applied with honey when they were sleeping. During night all louses were attracted by the honey and collected to the necklas. At morning the necklas was cleaned. So it's back to the old days.
True signle crystal Si is very poor light emitter, this is because it needs phonons to emit (or is indirect band gap material), but it is a different thing than silicon nanocrystal structures where si is confined in silicon dioxide matrix. There is many ways to alter bulk silicon properties. Silicon nanocrystals are produced into a silicon dioxide layer by ion implantation. After implantation the wafer is heated in inert nitrogen atmosphere where silicon clusters form. This is still new technology. Light emission from amorphous silicon was invented 1991. Light emitting silicon dioxide layers havent been even in laboratories for more than five to six years. Of course the optimal process is not invented yet. There wouldn't be much to research in that case. I believe that in future silicon based led devices will be as efficient as GaAs devices are today. Simply because there is a demand for Si based optoelectronics.
Oh and few more things. In Si doped sio2 devices the emitted wavelengt can be directly altered by altering the size of the si nanocrystal if we assume that the light is emitted due to straight recombination in nanocrystal. Also different rare earth elements emit light in different wavelengths. If the light spectrum is too wide, it could be modified for example with photonic band gap structures, a subject I'm also studying. These kind of structures could provide even a single mode aka laser operation in conventional LED devices. phew. never say never.
I have made these kind of devices for my master's thesis and the way how native silicon emits light is called nanocrystalline theory. Si is confined into a host material as sio2. When these silicon nanoclusters are small enough they act more as direct band gap materials due uncertainty pricniple. The real process is of course more complex but don't be too quick to say that si can't emit light as efficiently as GaAs based structures. Btw GaAs is optically poorer light emitter because of its hihger refractive index than sio2. This affect for example to critical angle.
My master's thesis, which I resently finished, was about light emitting silicon devices. I managed to make silicon implanted sio_2 device that send light visible to a naked eye. The thickness of the sio_2 layer was about 100 nm and the voltage I used to make the emission spectrum graph was, guess what, 110 V. So you were slightly wrong...
I once, ok few times, surfed on some random internet porn site after watchin movie and sound hooked to my surround speakers. Jeesus I allmost got an heart attack when I heard something like ME HOORRNNYY, ME LOVE YOU LONG TIME!!!! at about 120dB volume.

Here is Arduino based project to control humidity in apartment.
and no mention about Andrei Tarkovsky=fail.
Open source, got server/client. Works on Linux, Windows and Mac:

Packaging is on the way for Ubuntu:

It's been doing the same thing for me. After few tries it started normally and now I'm getting 500 KB/s download speed. I guess the tracker is full.
Or then we could just make scifi movie about it and get enough money to get out here before the crap hits us.

I'd rather buy creatives nomad jukebox 3 which by the way works on linux also (at least the usb connection works). Check out:

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Maybe I'm stupid but I couldn't find program menu editor from new gnome and changed to kde.

Wrong. It is optional to give your system configuration.
