Do you even live in the Western world? We've got O'Reilly's "War on Christmas," Christians complaining that there isn't *enough* God in our secular government, Christian boycotts and bans on a regular basis, religious leaders declaring a war against Islam just as Christians declared a war against Jews 80 years ago with the Father Flannery types. I'm ashamed that you've gotten such a high mod rating with such a hyperbolic argument.
I should add that when I worked in the university's library, I was always told that the rapidly increasing costs for texts and periodicals was attributed to the cost for paper (just as for comics).
I've seen Android devices for a fraction of the price. When you consider how much text books are going for nowadays, the thought that a student or school can rent textbook access could be a major game changer. I had semesters in college where textbooks alone were $300+ and that was 15 years ago.
Same crap happens to pro athletes. They're surrounded by groupies to put out at the drop of a zipper; then turn around and cry "rape" when they don't get to hang out in the box seats with the player's wives like they'd been dreaming about. Ben Roethlisberger will be suspended for 4 games under similar circumstances and a lot of people think he did it (after a previous false rape claim). Mike Tyson did prison time.
Just keep Mr. Assange in mind the next time you hear Johnny Touchdown is charged with sexual assault.
Well, a local station is probably just interested in reporting another story about a processing plant fire with pretty footage, not providing talking points for a Slashdot debate among geeks.
Oooh! And then you could have a CPA in a Ford rental drive past every few minutes you have to shoot before he bean counts all your asteroids and audits you. Or, maybe something more contextual.
The "civilized man goes native" motif isn't anything new, even to Fern Gully. I just watched Thunder Heart this weekend which was the same plot as Avatar, except with real Native Americans and a uranium mine instead of unobtanium.
I remember as a kid seeing the cover of Yar's Revenge and thinking how cool a game it would be. I think the blurb on the back also had a pretty enticing background story. Then, a friend got it and the graphics were such a disappointment. That distinction always stuck with me and it's probably the reason I don't have such a nostalgic memory of Ataris.
...this isn't news. While I never suspected people were getting paid, there have been people who were obvious political hacks eternally present regurgitating professional-sounding sound bites and basically trolling stories without any intention of engaging in debate. I don't mind dissenting opinions being posted or even that they're professional bloggers, my problem is that they aren't even trying to engage the forum community. They just want to get their shots plastered all over a website.
Sorry, wrong Father. I looked it up it was Father Coughlin.

Oh God, the horrors of Goatse.cx and rickrolling combined. Got me as well :(
Don't whip out your punishment too quickly. Oh, and always sleep on your back when you're stopping over in Fort Gay.
"Women seem wicked, when you're unwanted"
She didn't snap a bra in chemistry class. I'd expect some community service at least.
Bob Woodward is inside the Machine now; forget about his legacy.

You can leave now
The same reason you don't carry your car to work to save gas money.
The autobots couldn't fly in the original cartoon.

13WHAM! Bad luck and the sound of an explosion all rolled into one!
I can't imagine what it would have been like to see up close.
It's easy, go outside sometime sunrise and sunset and look up. And, before one of you junior high physics grads pipes in, that was a joke.
That seems to be a more reasonable security risk.
Remember the 3rd dimension
Unless they're red

Rap his knuckles with a heavy wooden ruler. Don't think that's doing to do much for research.

The sound a chartreuse Prius makes passing you: "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahm-gay"
