Holy Christ - THIS SOUNDS ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE MY COMPANY!!!!! I can understand managers not having technical backgrounds - but I agree "Project" managers should not (or is it "can not") be managing "Projects" if the project is technical with out some understanding of the technology behind it.
Wouldn't be cool if you could separate the Hydrogen from the water, release the Oxygen into the atmosphere then burn the Hydrogen to produce the water that you had destroyed before? Where is Keanu when you need him?
My only questions then is what will be the affect on the bacteria that depend on this Hydrogen to exsist? Will a large decline in these bacteria colonies cause other effects on the enviroment?
Granted. But why can I view my files with the "Classic" setting and yet I don't see the reason why it is ingrained to the point that they claim it is. All it is doing is reading the directory structure from the computer, the same as if you us ls in Unix or dir in DOS or File Manager(Oh wait a second - that pretty much is just using the dir command). The browser isn't doing anything special. You can read directory structures of remote computers over the Net with a Browser, whether or using Netscape or IE on any platform (well as far as I know, I'm not sure if it can handle, say OS390), WinNT, Unix (including all variants) or Mac. So I really can't see how there argument holds water.
Yes their forsight. That's right... they would not have incorporated their Browser in because of a little company called Netscape would they? Oh yeah - and when they kick off there integrated interface, Bill Gates wasn't getting in front of everyone and mentioning that Netscape owned 70% of the market and that was unacceptable to Microsoft... Not at all. Oh, uh how much of the market share Netscape have now a days?
Tolkein had a credit of 17 languages to his name before he died. The elvish in the movie is real. Basically most of what you will hear is Sindarin, which much like a Itialian would be today to Latin. Whereas Quenya would be the Latin root language. You should actually hear a little of that also because Galadriel sings a song as the Fellowship is leaving Lothlorien in Quenya which is the language of the Noldor elves and other inhabitants of the West.
Actually Beowulf had Christian themes and undertones added to it over generations. Around the 4th century AD the Catholic church had missionaries in Germany, France and England that started to convert the people. Halloween was actually a pagan holy day. In order to make Catholism more appealling to the people the priest added a holy day of obligation. November 1st became All Saint's Day. Halloween became All Hallowed Eve.
KUDOS! Tolkein intentionally left Tom as a mystery. Just as in the first novel when Sam is talking with the miller's son and mentions a story of his cousin up north seeing something that looked like a tree walking. Later in hearing Treebeard's tale of the Entwives it leaves the reader wondering... was it an Ent searching for the entwives or one of the Entwives or just a story Sam's cousin invented. Tom also is not the only on Maiar/Valar immortal being to be created by Tolkein without clear classification. Shelob's mother Ungoliant was the "Demon" spider to help Morgoth slay the Trees. She also was not clearly a Maiar or Valar.

That is what the other book "Built to Last" addressed.
Actually Tolkien started it all from a hospital bed in France when he was wounded during WWI. At that time he started writing a story that eventually became one of the last chapters of the Silmarillion. And that title was "The Fall of Gondolin".
Being a fan of Dr. Tolkien for my entire life I feel a need to point out that your timeline is wrong in the opening statement. The Hobbit was a originally a story he told his children as they were growing up. He published the first edition of the Hobbit in 1936. This story actually followed the "lie" the Biblo told the Dwarves regarding how he acquired the The Ring. It wasn't until the Lord of the Rings came out in the early 50's that he went back to revise the Hobbit to follow the Prelude he incorporated in the Lord of the Rings. The Hobbit was such a success that his publishers immediately started clamouring for a "sequel". The trilogy is in actuality a single book but it was published in three separate parts for the consumers. He started writing the books in 1938. The Silmarillion as it was published was a collection of short stories that Christopher his oldest son put together and edited into one story, published in 1977, 4 years after his death. It was a work in constant revision, check out Unfinished Tales. The stories characters relations and interactions changed from story to story. It was never finished by John himself. Now that the history lesson is over, I'll get off my soapbox.
I'm not sure if it's ported to PC's, but there was a great game the TI-80(???? or was it the Commodore 64 - now I know I'm dating myself). It was called Treasure Island. Straight text game no visuals but great for teaching creativity.
I while found that the plot of Dune on the Sci-Fi channel more closely followed the books. My only problem with it was that Paul sounded like a whiny bitch. He never sounded like a whiny bitch in the book.
It seems with the demise of Eazel, and the impending death of VA LINUX open source model does not work for this deep recession that we are in. What are the challeges that your company face? How do you beat those expectaions?Do you realize that a recession is 2 consecutive quarters or more of negative growth. This isn't actually a recession, it is just that the economy is not doing incredibly well. Of course the way everything gets played up we'll continue to slid down due to a lack of consumer confidence that decreases spending. So how about this, everyone should go out this weekend and blow their paycheck to help the economy out.
Now that Big Blue, HP and such are getting into the race for support and development of Linux and products. Do you believe that this will help or hinder your Kompany?
My second question would be that do you forsee IBM attempting to regain it's almost status of pseudo monopoly that it had in the early 80's before Billy Gates came along?
I agree that the playability of games on the consoles vs. a PC does suffer a bit. But the PS2 handles the rendering of graphics better than a lot of PCs'. That all that it's chips are designed to do.
How me horse do you have on your ranch????
Does that include the colt that was born this morning?

I can't possibly see why the parent has been modded as "insightful".
Hehe, love that Guy. I ended up taking 2 days of work off waiting for the snow.
Wouldn't be cool if you could separate the Hydrogen from the water, release the Oxygen into the atmosphere then burn the Hydrogen to produce the water that you had destroyed before? Where is Keanu when you need him?
Let's hope so. From the way the article read they were using that as a source of there energy. In which case we'll be starving the poor bastards.

One of the Trade Center's Towers has collasped completly. The South one. The pentagon was bombed.

There is a cave ahead.
Go into the cave.
You are in the cave.
What do I see?
You see nothing.
Why?
Because it's dark.
Light a torch.

I don't know what your problem is but all times show up correctly for me (EST zone).
