lol. (I laughed because privacy doesn't exist in the medium where many of our thoughts largely exist, the internet and computers in general). Nearly all of us wouldn't know if the NSA/CIA/etc... came into our computers to check on us-- from the little I know these guys have a huge amount of brain power and almost unlimited authority.
And I'm sure there are a few leaps in this thought, but I'm worried that perhaps the public might conflate the FBI's inability to access that particular iPhone, you know which one, to the government in whole unable to access whatever desired information from whatever desired device/iphone/computer/IP address/Etc....
This is just an anecdote. When I was in my teen years, I noticed that when I focused on activities such as working out at the gym several times a week, it tended to leading a certain mental lifestyle which while I don't believe necessarily excludes a heavy reflective mindset, it sure felt that way at the time. While I don't know the true nature of the circumstances, my impoverished opinion is that hormones and adaptation were preparing me, making appropriate changes suitable to my activities or environment. When a soldier is training, a philosopher is not what is formed.
I agree with the main idea of your post, which is that most people don't care about the current threats, made obvious by the fact that there is not enough uproar by the communities, and that businesses and governments seem to continue like it's business as usual. Isn't it clear that in order for there to be change, action must be taken? Many of us who care about the issues you mentioned above (we care to different degrees) indulge in complaining instead of cooperative problem solving. Is it a lack of know-how, motivation, or intelligence?
At least we're doing stem cell research and companies are investing in it. IF I were dying you bet your ass I'll take my chances on this. After all, what's the alternative when time is running out?
Only way to know if this bullshit is going to stand is to take it up to the SCOTUS.Divulging a passkey means having to break silence resulting in self incrimination.
I've had some really cold fucking winter days. I wish global warming meant beach year round. (yea yea someone is probably going to reply saying how if that actually happened we would go extinct.)
Everyone loves to hate the TSA. The TSA is just the dog, go after it's masters. By keeping the masters in office, the people are really saying they approve of the TSA. Sometimes I think the people in this country deserve the treatment they receive by the elite.
I like the tone of your comment. However I would have to continue it with something along the lines of: What are you nerds doing to keep this cycle from continuing? It feels like the slashdot crowd has the right feeling about this, if only we did some follow through...
He's autistic, don't take away one of the few things he's probably good at. That's probably why his mother is defending him, if I had an autistic child (granted I don't and therefore am not familiar with restrictions that they encounter) I would try and make him feel special.
External firewire drive duh. If you are that much into digital photography I assume you use picture management software, possibly? Many don't support pictures on a NAS, or are simply too slow when dealing with large amounts of huge RAW files. As for backup, you can keep pictures on the NAS, it's just if you prefer to edit and manage your photos then you will need to use an external drive.
I really would like a digital archive of my notes. However some of my classes require more than just sentences and punctuation. What type of notes do you take? Any specific software that you use?
This is a very well-thought-out reply. Thanks for contributing.

I'm sure he also envisioned a bunch of intellectuals debating theory, but who did he propose would lead this said 'revolt'?

I've never seen that mic icon before. Is it new? I like it.
Maybe if they didn't have nuclear weapons I wouldn't care so much.
You can't handle the truth!
With these donations coming in, it might as well be called "Everyone v. Sony"

I don't like the border, I don't like the excessive amount of whitespace, I don't like it.

I've always wondered what it would be like to take a test ala "Old School" with an earbud in my ear and a van outside sending me the answers.
Of course its meant to keep the peasants in line. Like this bill was meant to protect me, psh.
