You may lose 40% compared to US dollars but you don't lose anything when comparing quality of life.
You gain free universal health care, safer streets, lots of water, better beer and you get to live in the homeland of the most famous TV and music stars;)
Rudolph Diesel made the his diesel engine to run on peanut oil so farmers would be able to afford the fuel.
Oil seeds and even some algae are good sources of oil.
Why then is there always sound in space movies?
Why is there no delay for sounds that are far away,
Distant explosions screwed up, i.e an explosion far away and the light and sound alway arrive at the same time!
Why don't they just just get actors in India to do the voices? Everything else is going over there. They have Bollywood too so they have the facilities to do voice-overs.
OK maybe it's just my short attention span but I've been skimming over the Tom's article and the posts here and so far "modem" is nowhere to be seen.
I can't afford high speed and external modems are rare in my experience. Anyone starting out trying Linux will quickly go insane trying to configure their modem, which 99% of the time is a WinModem.
Even Tom's hardware checklist has no modem on it. Am I really that far behind? Anyway most new to Linux use old hardware which more than likely uses a modem and not DSL or Cable....maybe it's in there somewhere I'll keep reading.
That's nice seeing some news from Africa that's positive for a change. All you ever hear about is murder and carnage from all over the continent. Nice to see some sort of get together where learning and sharig is involved. It is amazing that so little good is said in the news for such a large part of humanity!
First of all I find it very unusual any US politician would have anything to do with the UN.
I remember on CNN after two planes, of the anti-Castro group, were shot down by Cuba, a US polictican ( Helms...Burton? ) said that all the more reason to continue the economic boycott of Cuba.
The next story was on China and another politician speaking about China said that keeping dialogue open with China was the only way to make progress.
If the Internet in China, and also keeping dialogue open, is so important, why not do that for every enemy or the US?
China is so huge I wouldn't worry about the government controlling the Internet. They seem to be where the USSR was in the late 80's just before Communism fell.
Yeah I bought that book too..now all I have to do is read it.

The remark about the radiation reminded me of the recent story about the Lunokhod vehicles (the Russian moon rovers). I found the use of Polonium-210 for heating the rovers very interesting.
Some intersting stuff about Polonium-210 on Wikipedia:
"half a gram quickly reaching a temperature above 750 K" (476.85C)
"This isotope is an alpha emitter that has a half-life of 138.39 days."
"...nearly all alpha radiation can be easily stopped by ordinary containers and upon hitting its surface releases its energy..."
BTW Did anyone else see the picture of Susi the "melting probe"? lmao I wonder where they got the idea for the design of that! Does it vibrate too?
Hmm...sounds like an Oprah show "expert". :p
I had my file tree up and decorated on System Administrator Appreciation Day Eve. ;)

Don't look a gift-horse in the mouth.
Exactly 5,113 channels, of course.
So it fell 960 feet?
32 (feet/s) X 30s = 960 feet
That would be "really hard" as he said.
Yes, but is it TRANSPARENT? I want Transparent steel! I want an invisible jet!
You want to be Wonder Woman?
The last big story from New Zealand was Shrek the Marino sheep that was on the lam for seven years.

Bullet: "Splat!"
That's going to be a lot of bullets to track.
If the US swithces to metric they'll start doing what we do:
Bob: "He was going 160 Km/h down the street!"
Doug: "Yeah, so?"
Bob: "That's 100 MPH."
Doug: "Wow!"
( btw the passenger in the car is saying "Giv'er!" )
So it means the way a barcode is scanned and not the way actual physical barcode exists in space-time.
Whew! I thought General Zod escaped for a minute. I never knew anything one dimensional existed.
If they move to Canada they can double their money!

[ Sig mantra: Always perviwe befroe postng ]
You think that's bad..when you wrote that I could hear the sounds in my head that the light makes.
Dammit they stole my idea :P
I was going to use windmills though.

c = 299 792 458 m / s ...so it's even closer ;)
Assuming it's available here why not come to Canada! If you want more for your money your pound gets $2.46092 Canadian (as of 4:55 Atlantic on XE.com)
Go to Halifax or you could pick one up in Newfoundland if your plane stops there to refuel.
Even Icelanders go to Halifax to Christmas shop.
