That's just it, wouldn't your low battery indicator be one of the things you would test? Even if it wasn't, if they had done enough testing and betas with staff, they would have run into that problem before releasing it to the customer. Guess speed to market is more important than quality, or in this case, safety.

Then how long are you going to spend testing the other apps you've hooked it up to. (New story on slashdot, both lamps are on!).

If this false positive rate is low enough then I'd implement it anyways.

I think this is the issue a lot of movie makers run into. How much do you focus on new viewers and how much do you focus on those that already know the storyline/environment? This has been an issue with a lot of movies including LotR.. Jackson had to balance boring the long time fans of the books with those that had never read them. Its a tough balance to reach for anyone.

Of course with Morpheus's recent win in court, this sort of 'legal' P2P system may not catch on as well as hoped. That's just the way Tolkien wrote. The books were writtin in the 50's I believe, and at that time there wasn't as much an issue referring to humans as men. In the Tolkien world, we had dwarves, elves, and men as the main 3 races. I don't think it was meant to exclude or even discount females, it was just used as a generic term at the time.

Doesn't matter. Deciding if something is wrong or right should not depend on how it effects the economy

Do those thieving, monopolizing, overcharging bastards deserve so much of our money?

Again, doesn't matter. If they own the rights, they can do whatever they want as long as they are not violating other laws.

How extensive should media creators' controls be over their 'art'?

Relevant! I'm a firm believer that if someone creates a work of art they should be able to charge whatever they want to people who want a reproduction or to view/listen to that art. Now art is defined pretty loosely here, especially considering some of the stuff that hits the theatres. If I don't want to pay $x to see a movie or purchase a CD, then I have that right. I do not have the right to have in my posession a reporduction of that right because I don't agree with the authors/copyright holders.

Hmmm, since VISA is an official sponsor, I wonder if you can pay for anything with your Master Card/Discover/Amex/etc.
