The DRM software will be shipped as a default option inside the cME package. "It's up to the OEM whether or not to insert it on the machine," he said. "We are offering it as a default option and it's up to them to remove it."
An OEM will also have to decide whether or not to allow an end user to turn the DRM feature off, Eades said.
Since when does these schmucks start thinking that I as a consumer doesnt have the right to take apart, enable/disable features, and smash to smithreens whatever shit I buy from them?
Every other product or service that we are seeing these days for sale are increasingly tipping the balance in favor of the seller. Let buyer go to hell, be the new motto.
I can understand the importance of having digitally signed code and safe code, but tracking software across PC's sound a lot like 1984 than 2004.
I do not know who is more disturbing (or vaguely exhilirating)..the poster who wants to (1) burn the spammer (2) bait psychopaths OR the moderator who actually modded this up as "Interesting"..
Spammers are gonna take one look at this and go "Oh shit!..now these bastards are not even modding it up as Funny!!.. This time its "Interesting"!!!."
On one end you have Microsoft, building and selling software like crazy.
Right underneath them, you have developers who dont give a shit about what they build and let in bugs like crazy..
Right next to them, you have the marketing goons spread FUD like crazy
On another end, you have companies/people buying Microsoft software like crazy..even after they read day in and day out of worms/bugs/critical flaws and what not..
On this end, you have Sys Admins who do give a fuck and try patching their systems like crazy and still goes under the barrage of worms/viruses
On the other end, you have script kiddies/idiots and people who seriously need to fucking stop and have a life, spewing out nastier and nastier worms/viruses every week
On another end, you have people like us who wish someone somewhere would sue the fuck out of software firms like MS to be held accountable for the tripe they churn out every year
And in another corner, I stand with a big fuckin baseball bat ready..waiting for the next script kiddie and the next spammer coming to ravage my tiny XP boxen tidily hidden behind me..
If we were to assume there are close to around 50,000 third party firms who develop for Windows and there are around 1 million distinct Windows core dumps per version then there would be 20 incidents per third part developer and HALF A MILLION Crashes thats still owed to Microsoft..
that if (Linus Forbid) it ever crash and burns, on whose head should it fall (Insert the name of **AA honcho, WorldCom/Enron/M$/Oracle executive, Political figures such as the three monkeys (Bush/Cheney/Ashcroft) etc...
I would definitely vote for Cary Sherman..Damn She-bitch's cold!
Ummm... Somebody tell this poor dude that we are talking about a movie..
Also while you are at it, tell him that Saddam is not tying up with Sauron to kill the infidels and anyone who plagiarize the book including Peter Jackson
Its a good thing internet came in to being 30 yrs ago. Right about now, it wouldnt have got past these "patriots".
Wish these guys could find some Private funding. Its not a whole lot of money for someone with a lot of moolah and a little respect to this budding, small and secure Operating system. Maybe Mr. Gates would do it as a token of support to the OSS efforts and who knows get himself some less facetime with Mr. Devil in Hell.
Whatever it may be, this is becoming more like a nation where free speech is being shot down from every corner of the administration. When names of anti-bush liberals and advocates of free speech end up on the "No-Fly" lists at airports for no fault of theirs, what more can you expect from an agency who gets their money from the military coffers.
I hope someone would step in and make the hackothon happen.
Also the interview mentions the fact that in October 2002, it was still in basic research form and could take as much as a couple of years to production and maybe a bit more for commercial purposes.
But that still bodes well for us since Silicon will tide us through another 10 good years.
Wish I werent 30 right now. The average lifespan looking like 70 (hopefully!) I just have 40 more years left....oopss.. Panic Attack!
Imagine... Words hold so much meaning right now..

Imagine there's no countries, It isnt hard to do, Nothing to kill or die for, No religion too, Imagine all the people living life in peace...
Imagine no possesions, I wonder if you can, No need for greed or hunger, A brotherhood of man, Imagine all the people Sharing all the world...
You may say Im a dreamer, but Im not the only one, I hope some day you'll join us, And the world will live as one.
Why is it that we clamour over a 12 yr resolution that hasnt been fulfilled when Israel has a 30 yr resolution to leave palestine which they are absolutely ignoring?
Why is it that one man who commands the greatest army in the world has free reign over to choose which country to attack and which one to ignore?
Why is it that the president doesnt see the fear in the common man's eyes, the pain in his voice, the desperation in his heart?
I dont fear for Iraq, I fear for America. The Land of freedom, the land of opportunity is inching towards inevitable doom. Unless, we build a fortress around the shores of United States (Escape from NY/LA style), thousands of terrorists are going to unleash their wrath on this land. Also, the millions of US citizens all over the world will be targeted and hunted over the world by bigots, fanatics and criminals.
Missiles doesnt differentiate between evildoers and children. I hope the air in iraq doesnt fill up with the wails of women who lost their children and children who lost their mother. No one would be able to justify if that happens. No one would dare to.
Imagine the butthead sitting with his buddy drinkin beeeer outside on the porch (assuming its out in the middle of nowhere) watching black cars and vw minis go by with strange white folk staring out through tinted glasses with cameras in hand snapping pics like crazy:)..
they really should have done so when they designed Windows
Bugs (*aheam* features) and Security flaws are not intended to be part of the package. They happen because of bad design and bad coding practices and bad decisions. And no matter how hard you try (and try as you may even in the case of Linux) its impossible to do so during the design or coding time.
I would applaud this effort to force it down the throats of customers (atleast it would reduce the number of vulnerable servers sitting out in the open), but it goes only as far as any user would want to.
Is this so frickin relevant ? I am sorry, but I dont see the point why this deserves the tag "News". People, (actually that should be 'editors'), cant you shuffle through that list again and come up with something better than this. If you guys were responsible for finding news, I wouldnt have blamed you for this. But I am sure there must be a thousand submissions rejected tonight in order to pick this idiotic one. Heck, I am sure even the submitter was quite surprised to find his post make it to the top ten(Pardon my sarcasm).
Look around, there are a million other things we could be discussing now.
Microsoft (I know this is being beaten to death) is trying to take over the fscking world. Lets talk about that.
Or, lets talk about the Anti war protests taking place in Florence, Italy right now. There are atleast half a million other young men and women like us who believe United States should not go to war with Iraq. Dont you think that would be a better topic to discuss ? Or are we so fscking high up in our self appointed pedestals that we just dont care ? Theres a war looming over this country people. People are sure to lose lives, innocent and guilty both. Are we waging this war because we believe in it OR (like the rest of the world believe), are we waging this war for a few people to feel good about their oil coffers ?
Lets talk about this and a million other things. Not about a game thats currently on the top list in Japan. If it were Doom III im sure we would understand.
Look at this moron's posting history.. He has his own agenda.. What a piece of shit!
Hilary : (Hands Jack Valenti the CLUE_STICK) Here ya go, Jack!

Ofcourse, after uninstalling ffdshow and installing the xVid codec got me back on the straight path..
Seeing boobies in blue took the fun away though..

Scenario One:
Heath : Computer, why did you select the quantity for four. Its just me in here..
Computer : Sweetheart, I thought I should cook for the three gentlemen hiding in the attic with guns too..
Scenario Two:
Heath : Please select quantity as two for myself and my boyfriend.
Computer : Your boyfriend was here with the blonde from the coffeeshop. Believe me sweetie, he ate.. Oh how he ate!!
