Abyss Special Edition DVD Featurette time lapse--

The Abyss Special Edition DVD has one of the coolest time lapses on it of them building the entire underwater base and filling the unused nuclear reactor that they built the set in with 7 million gallons of water. I also highly, highly, highly recommend renting/getting the special edition DVD and watching the hour long documentary Under pressure: Making The Abyss, even if your not a fan of the movie. You will be shocked and amazed at the lengths Cameron and his crew go to in order to make this film.
I posted this both to Shacknews and the Black Cat Games forums for Alien Swarm-- so here's links to those threads in case the question gets answered there first:
Doh, this got buried in a reply to a 0 karma post so I'm reposting to get out of obscurity--
Is there a way to get the bots in single player to respond to voice commands? You can do it in vanilla UT2K4 single player, but so far I haven't been able to get that working in the Alien Swarm mod/tc.

heheh. How old are you? I'm 24, been licensed since I was 11:)
As to the "hater" stuff:P, I only threw in terms like that as a way of sortof sporting a virtual "ironic trucker hat" if you know what I mean. I find jeffk/somethingawful style antics to be completely hilarious and by including them, even on a small level, I'm able to speak to all levels of common internet forum lurker/poster.
Meanwhile I look forward to supreme court rulings including "w00t, d00d" and the like:)
Every time theres an amateur radio story posted to/., either about morse code or BPL, all these haters show up and start saying ham radio is dead and that its a waste to give all these airwaves to these "hams".
I didn't think so. To all the rest, thank you for the resepect. I'm not trying to say ham radio is the best hobby, I'm just saying the haters need to recognize.:P
Or have they decided that yet? I know there was mention of helping determine where they will land, but I figure they already know the general area its going to hit at this point.. is it gonna be in the Lying H or the Dragon's Head? I figure they've got a better job of hitting liquid ocean if they shoot for the dog or the ball or whatever heh.
Anyone got any data on their expected insertion/landing point? I couldn't find any.
If you advertise on Overture your supporting these bastards! Sure Overture made the association before Yahoo bought them, but Yahoo is still guilty for their dealings with them.
Would Google ever put adwords up in a gator popup? Hell no!
Securities law requires private companies that exceed a certain level of stock distribution to file quarterly financial data with federal regulators. If the law is applied to Google, company executives would have to disclose the company's closely guarded financial information. If your already doing that then you might as well go IPO. Microsoft had a similar experience.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a hardcore PC LAN party enthusiast, going back to the days of Doom 1. Ahh, I remember screwing around with some freeware DOS IPX program on BNC/coax ethernet. We were so crazy, we setup a dedicated quake server on a computer with a modem and had people connect to the server over the modem and play us on our lan. It was cool!
But apparently you have not experienced throwing 4 gamecubes in a room and making a gamecube lan and playing 16 player mario kart. Oh. My. God.
And you don't need 32"+ tvs either-- their are VGA cables available for the GC. I believe their are similar things available for XBOX for those XBOX halo parties.
PC gaming will never die, this debate is as old as dirt and I'm tired of hearing it because I hate all the PC gaming haters. They've never experienced true gaming bliss and purposefully turn themselves away from the light.
Yeah! Hardcore will never die! (modz plz delete my anonymous coward post, doh!)

But I agree with the parent, its a myth and a mistake to do the math the way Weinberg suggests.
I worked for Road Runner for a short time (pre-merger) as an installer, and I am glad I'm not the only one to think what your thinking about this.
One of my first thoughts when the merger went through was what are they going to do to the Road Runner brand. Since I was a RR customer, my worst nightmare was suddenly having an AOL e-mail address(!). But nothing happened.. nothing. Even when "AOL for Broadband" started showing up they didn't promote it. It wasn't until they were offering OTHER ISPs like Earthlink, that they had AOL as a choice. Which made me wonder if it was terms of the merger with the FTC or not. That has to be the only explanation.
Otherwise they deserve what they got and I agree with the parent post, they mismanaged it horribly.
Could this be a sign that we'll be seeing GBA games on the DS?? Emulating games on a handheld system... emulating a GBA on the DS to play GBA games.... HMM!?
In the article at the bottom it says "To be clear, Lanzone said that the company will still allow site operators to pay to submit their sites to its index, but that that payment would not guarantee inclusion in the database."
Which goes right along the way Yahoo's new Site Match program works (to quote from their homepage):
"All URLs must pass initial and ongoing quality review to be included. Participation in the program does not guarantee rank in search results; rank is determined by assessing site quality and relevance to search terms."
I fail to see the point of paid inclusion under these circumstances-- in theory (and yes, I know thats the problem), websites should be indexed on a semi-regular basis regardless of whether your are paying the search engine owners or not-- as Google does and as Yahoo has actually been doing (in order to build their index to match Google's).. by just having a relevant site you should rank highly in the search results. All of this in theory of course.
In reality most sites that are relevant DO rank highly in the search results for most terms-- this NEW paid inclusion program for both Jeeves and Yahoo is just a transitionatory phase between total inclusion and no paid inclusion whatsoever. Right now they say "sure you can still give us your money.. and yeah if your relevant we'll index you.." but if your relevant you'll probably already be indexed!

Where are the haters in this thread? Oh OHHH its because we launched a ROCKET INTO SPACE. Has your hobby done that? HMM!? What about dozens of satellites, space station experiments and space shuttle experiments? What about being a vital part of our nation's emergency communications network?

Heh not sure if I agree with the moderation on this one except that it seems like Google has now fixed the problem.
