Not a peak. Just a question of motivation and self-will or self-denial. Back in high school I was 240, after my first year of college I stopped drinking any sort of carbonated beverage. Nothing whatsoever. Lost 70 lbs in two months. I kid you not. My parents thought I was anorexic. Truth be told, I had cut my sugar intake from quite literally about 1.5KG PER WEEK to almost nothing. Just by not drinking my 4-6 cans of Pepsi a day (10 or so on Sat and Sun). After that I started working out a lot and I'm sitting at a rather muscular 190.
Course, everyone has their vices, so you just have to know which ones to nix and what to do after that. If you weigh in at 250 you should start cardio and lifting. Building the muscle mass will burn more of your intake and the cardio will help your body regulate what you eat. Probably shouldn't eat like a power lifter either.;)
That's a pretty good point. I was talking with a Caribou (very big in Minnesota, I prefer it to SB, and they have free wifi) executive some years ago and she mentioned that any coffee shop can take on Starbucks, Caribou, Dunn Bros as long as they have something worthwhile to offer. This is why you see a lot of corner coffee shops in college towns.
Personally, I have no qualms about ordering a standard cup of coffee at a free wifi hotspot and surfing for an hour. If it's not crowded then I don't feel bad, they made a buck, and probably a return customer.
Yes, spoilers. First thing that pops up in my head after the summary was Deus Ex. At the end of the game you end up making the choice between three different 'endings'. All three of which involve the world's central information hub. Destroy it and go into the dark age, merge with the AI that has been formed and rule the world, or rule invisibly.
I suppose if this ever happens (with IBM) I'm going to have to become a super-agent and start blowing stuff up. Or being sneaky... or, oh there's so many ways to do things in this game.
Choplifter was amazing. I played that game for hours. Never had the instructions, though, so I had to press random keys and hope I got my tanks and what not. Never bothered to write down the keys though. Mostly memorization. Maybe that... maybe that wasn't Choplifter I was playing...
Not at all like that. I was going to comment that PD:Zero was crap, but left it out. Honestly I'd played that game a bit on hi-def and everything (42" DLP), but it didn't even compare to the original multiplayer. The controls were crap and the weapons sucked.
Yes. Perfect Dark. Best FPS multiplayer of all time. Ever. The only way it could be improved is a frame rate of at least 30Hz and maybe updated graphics. I'm willing to bet that muti-console multiplayer would be welcome as well.
You may want to re-examine the structure of your ship considering Newton's third law. The one that basically says that if you're going to shoot something out of a barrel, you best be able to hold onto that barrel.
I'd say you might want to go with a least a 5/8" thick hull. And maybe some heavy duty mounts. Standard drywall screws probably won't do the trick... And to really sell the idea, include a sub-detection unit and a good, quiet propulsion system.
I have had the 6080 for quite some time now. My parents snagged it at a garage sale back in '88 or so and gave it to me for my birthday (which was in December, we live in MN... that was a long wait). The funny thing is that until today I never knew which set it was. It sits very proudly in the bookcase by my fire place today. The portcullis is broken and needs a lot of new pieces and I've got to replace some of the gray bricks as well. But I've always loved that set. For some reason, in my imagination, castle Legos could take down both space Legos, and G.I. Joes.
Another thing to consider is that most consoles don't actually need as much memory. They have hardware compression/decompression of textures and the like where as I don't believe that any PCs/video cards have that covered yet. Nintendo's Gamecube system's video card, Flipper, could do 8 texture layers per pass and had 6:1 texture compression. All on the fly. I can't find a lot of data for the Wii, but I can't imagine that they didn't improve on this a bit. If not just doubled the speed. As for PCs, agreeing on any sort of standards like this probably isn't plausible with so many graphics card manufacturers.
Also, I believe I covered 'optimized code' in my original post, but the point can be re-emphasized because it does make that much of a difference. Something I forgot to mention (which has been discussed in another response) is that most consoles are running at lower resolutions than PCs, therefore allowing a greater amount of work to be done in 'less space'.
These are all reasons why I'm more of a console player. I like computer games, but the console is more my style. No need to keep up with the Jones's just to play the newest games.
In regards to your being upset that you need a computer of remarkable power increase for games... Even if the original XBox was just a relatively slow computer with a nice graphics card, it still had special controllers and dedicated hardware. Granted, it didn't have all the bells and whistles a console with that much power should have, it worked.
Dedicated hardware, drivers, and optimized code make a huge difference when compared with PC games. Windows is designed to work on almost anything, and with almost anything. So you have to remember that Windows needs a LOT of resources just for it's own fat code. Also the game has to be designed to plug into all that. Think about all the 'wasted' hardware. The system bus is completely impractical for gaming because it is designed to take care of much, much more than it needs to do.
Just saying. The closest I come to being a computer engineer is being able to put them together and troubleshoot pre-Vista Windows... so, yeah.
True. If the disc isn't spinning the 360 is pretty darn quiet. Problem is that every once in a while my Elite system will begin to make that wonderful vibrating spinning noise. The one that makes you think about putting extra rubber pads on it so it doesn't harm your wood floors. I think the noise is also associated with a dying drive. woo hoo...
That's a pretty silly assessment there. Sounds like you picked up a copy of Wii Play, right? Assuming you see the value of a WiiMote as $40, you willingly paid $10 for another game that you claimed you wouldn't buy for $5 in a bargain bin. Is that correct? If not, well, then I'm nit-picking.
Either way, I think Wii Play is worth $10 bucks. The pool game is pretty fun, and Tanks! is pretty fun with that interface. The other games are pretty entertaining as well.
My brother was in the hospital with massive kidney failure and a bladder infection, and had been rushed to the hospital after Thanksgiving dinner in 1986. I was visiting and they rolled in a TV with a gray box. They popped in a gold cartridge and Zelda came up. My brother (8 at the time) and I had a blast. I tried to remember where he went and he tried to fight off the Moblins and Keese. We also took turns playing Mario Brothers. My mom just sat in the room and read the instructions to the new game for us. We'd never really played anything like that, and it kept my mom from crying.
Eventually my brother made it through and found out he actually had three kidneys. Pretty cool, really. After that my parents picked up a Commador 64, and eventually a Nintendo for Christmas in 1988.
Currently I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. It's display is a 15.4" Widescreen with a resolution of 1920x1200 (which for some reason they no longer offer). I have the desktop and all applications running at maximum resolution and I notice very easily the difference on a screen with just under a quarter of my 32" Widescreen Samsung TV. And that only runs on 720p. The difference isn't noticeable because there really isn't any media available for all the resolution on my laptop (perhaps I could get a Blu-ray player, but I doubt it would work, and gaming on this laptop at high resolution? Forget it). I play XBox and Wii on my TV and it looks amazing. I'm sure a 1080p 32" would be great as well. I don't consider my eyes above average, but I certainly can see the difference in resolutions if there was media enough to utilize it. Still, for me it's affordability and convenience. I just got my Samsung and I really like it.
The poster said vertebrates. Octopus are invertebrates. Read the article you linked. Well, it's not technically reliable being on Wikipedia, but the fact still remains.
On the other hand there are a lot of countries that require anesthetic if you are to operate on an octopus. Neat. By the way, Tako can be rather tasty!
Had I mod points, they'd be yours. Well said. I hear far too much complaining about privacy from people raised with silver spoons in their mouths. On the flip side I hear far to much complaining from those who feel they've had to delve into the shady areas to get by.
Yeah, it really would suck if you crossed the boarder and the customs official stole your future #1 Best Selling Novel off your jump drive. Well, you should have been holding the copyright on that before you were carrying it around. If you think a customs official is that interested in your digital diary, odds are you're very wrong.
When it comes down to whether or not we catch a handful of people crossing the border with child pornography (in TFA), or something similar in a laptop, and the feds finding my music, diary, and schematic for a perpetual motion machine.... I'll take the extra searches. There are proper channels to safeguard trade secrets for your company and the like. Find them and use them if you need to.
I'm not sure about your experience, but there was only four forms that you needed. The one that paralyzes humans, the one that steals chi, pick any hand-to-hand and any weapon form and you're done. Every human can be paralyzed. Demons can only really be hurt by weapons, and the chi stealing form refills your chi. Using any other combo just upped your difficulty. But even then, unless you're facing a lot of demons, every fight was rather simple.
I actually have played ME through as (mostly) a renegade, Earth born, ruthless. I like the system in ME because it doesn't seem to reward or penalize your choices, other than opening different missions and such (no gems that can only be used by the mostly evil or good). And I liked the way that you just had to be a dick most of the time, but you were rarely truly evil.
My beef with that is that in order to be a paragon you had to be 'pro alien' and to be a renegade you had to be 'pro human'. To such an extent that it disgusted me. I want to play the renegade, who gets the job done, and as a renegade he's probably going to use people to their fullest, humanity and aliens. Just like the paragon, only the paragon is going to be nicer about it while the renegade really doesn't give two craps about what happens to any of them in the end. It's just easier to write up the renegade as a racist.
Don't get me wrong, because I still enjoyed both Jade Empire and Mass Effect, and with ME they're getting it closer to the mark. I also look forward to JE2 and ME2. I'll definitely play through them both. Thankfully there should be plenty of time for going through ME with a number of combinations. Right now I'm playing through as a complete renegade, and a complete paragon with another career. It's entertaining.
I think you might be reading a bit too far into what I was saying. I had read a few interviews and articles that explained that Bioware wanted to accomplish what you were saying. Closed Fist can make people stronger, Open Palm could harm in the long run. These things make sense depending on the situation. But, there wasn't any 'reward' for taking the middle path. That's not even my point.
They wrote the story. Anything could have happened in their world. Now, it's not our fault they couldn't come up with some more original situations, but definitely something we should expect, no?
Also, I'm not interested in applying video game ideas or ideals to real life, even if that's where they originated. And your example is sickeningly extreme, even if it does drive the point. Besides, in order for this example to work, Hitler himself would have to believe he was doing them a favor, and clearly he was a murderer.
Course, everyone has their vices, so you just have to know which ones to nix and what to do after that. If you weigh in at 250 you should start cardio and lifting. Yes... quite a downer on your day when the space elevator you just finished melts away due to a little rain.

Actually, what you smell is the Cheetos reacting with the acrylonitrile butadiene styrene cases. It's quite normal.
Choplifter was amazing. I played that game for hours. Never had the instructions, though, so I had to press random keys and hope I got my tanks and what not. Never bothered to write down the keys though. Mostly memorization. Maybe that... maybe that wasn't Choplifter I was playing...
Your lack of replies only serves to reinforce your argument. I remember scoffing at the DJ's and the DJ ditty.

High time for an experiment, I'd say.

Quoth, Sean Connery of SNL Celebrity Jeopardy, "I've been trying to invent an anal bum cover for years, failing to do so has been my greatest regret."
