  1. Re:Another possible improvement on DS Games To Be Downloadable to the Wii · · Score: 1

I have. And between that and Bionic Commando I think over the five or so years we owned our NES (and at least 200 rented titles) they probably saw a good 10% of my play time. Come to think of it... I've never actually beat Blaster Master. I tried to play the Game Boy Color version of Blaster Master, but for me it was unplayable due to the screen size.

  2. Open hand vs. closed fist. on Jade Empire 2 in the Works · · Score: 3, Interesting

One problem I've been having with every one of these action RPGs (KotOR, Mass Effect,..) is that Bioware claims that you don't have to be inherently evil to go down the 'bad guy' path, but in Jade Empire it was the worst. They said it wouldn't be good vs evil, but every time you end up making that very choice. Inherently Good vs obviously evil. Like the end of JE. Kill the dragon and enslave your friends, or don't. Even if you spend the entire game being a bad guy, saving the dragon pops you half-way up the other side. Just doesn't seem to be as blurred as Bioware wants it to be.

Subsidized meat? I'd say that we should start some nice taxes on High Fructose Corn Syrup in stead. That's causing much more problems than red meat could hope to cause. So what if soda goes up in price, and it costs more for a candy bar. Good. Maybe people will have to start sitting on the couch and eating potato chips... oh wait. Hmm.. going to have to start taxing the hydrogenated oils. I'd be for that as well. Only problem is that, as you've stated. It's more about money than health. but there is also this here Tariff or quota or whatever you'd like to call it on imported sugar that artificially inflates the price of real sugar in the US. Originally, I believe, this was to help the corn industry, but the regulations were never lifted. And now our nation is getting even larger...

  4. Some of mine on The Finest Moments in 2007 Gaming · · Score: 4, Insightful
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption... Every fight. Going through the portal from the 'Norfair' planet, Bryyo, into the icy caverns. The first time you get to the Elysia, and every time after that when you're traveling outside. Incedentally, this is my 'Game of the Year' choice.

Portal: Not the end, but the first time you find one of the rooms where "others" had dwelled before you. Insanity.

Assassin's Creed: When the main character acquires the 'eagle vision' near the end.

Bioshock: Any time you're walking around and you hear a Big Daddy, was a truly great moment. Sadly, this game was ruined for my by the last boss battle, which seemed to take everything the game stood for, and threw it away in the name of a Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter final boss battle. (loved Turok, for the record)

Mass Effect: I really cannot pinpoint any spot that was a 'finest moment'. Great game, one of the best this year. Maybe it's 'finest moment' can be the fight with Matriarch Benezia. The only battle I had any actual trouble with.

I agree with you. Mostly. I can't play a guitar to save my life. I can play the violin, viola, and even a trumpet, but I cannot play a guitar. Not sure why. But the guitar is past me. And this last weekend playing Rock Band has taught me that drums and vocals aren't my strong point either. Think I'll just stick to wailing on a five-colored fret-board and call it a day...

Also, I have a very good friend who is an amazing blues guitarist and I've tried to learn from him, but like Fry from Futurama, I must have stupid hands...

  13. Mass Effect on Why Do Games Still Have Levels? · · Score: 1

Just want to vent my frustration with a very good game. Load screens (the freezing in gameplay) every fifteen seconds in Mass Effect are extremely annoying. It doesn't tend to happen in battle, but the frame rate often drops during battle. Strange. Back to loading, it's annoying. Especially when you take into consideration that the DVD drive never spins down. With games like Halo3 and Assassin's creed constantly loading vast and intricate landscapes... you'd think that Mass Effect would have no issues with loading a all the confined spaces rather quickly.

I'm just going to out and out blame it on a couple different products. There's a lot more to it, but I believe these have a massive impact: High fructose corn syrup and Margarine. Both are really just cheaper by the pound industrial fillers that the body doesn't need or use.

I'm sure we can also blame the lifestyle of convenience. Wasn't it the US that spawned this abominable creation known as fast food? Fry everything because it's cheap and quick. I'm only twenty something, but I remember hearing my mother chide me when I would 'super size' something... She would tell the story that in her day a regular adults meal was about the size of a kids meal. Why did it change? Possibly because we're such a consumerist society that if we don't literally see more value for our dollar, we wouldn't buy something. So the chains had to reciprocate? Or because the competing chains needed to give you more value and the American never really protested to having a bigger burger on their bun ("Where's the beef?!)...

A lot of people quit because it's too hard and that's not what they're looking for. No problems there, it's not for everyone. But as far as street readiness? We try to prepare ourselves for all sorts of situations. Such as, sitting in the car and some one reaches through the window and grabs you. We also try to focus on some MMA types of wrestling. Also, our instructor does not throw out sashes or belts like with the karate and other such chains.

But watching TV is not a hobby of mine. Though I did sit and play Assassin's Creed for four hours last night... So now I've had to resort to, you know, not eating everything in site. Which I'm usually pretty good at anyways.

My brother too owns a Wii. Since he's recently taken up residence in my basement, it means I don't have to buy one. I play the thing all the time though. Mostly for Mario Strikers: Charged and MP3 Corruption. And when Smash Bros Brawl comes out... oh.. it's going to be great.

That said, the Wii is going to be off for about a month whilst I play through Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect. I just love games. So if it's fun, I want to play. If it's not fun, I don't want to play. But, that's what games are, entertainment... distraction. And most of us prefer the aspect of having fun. Some of us want to scare the living daylights out of ourselves and play Silent Hill. Others prefer excitement, adventure (a jedi craves not these thigns) So, yeah, the poster you were replying to most likely was being sarcastic, but really not doing a bang-up job...

I've had the opportunity to use most smartphones and I must say that none of them is going to be what anyone wants. At least for now. Anything running Windows Mobile is going to be slow and clunky, despite the features being very nice. I opted for the Samsung Blackjack. The only reason being that it is cheaper and thinner than the HTC's. I don't like the Blackberry interfaces. Especially the 20 key layout like on TFA's mentioned phone. I loved the iPhone, but for the price I expected 3G data access and wouldn't pay the premium without that. I probably will get the iPhone when Apple includes 3G, and when I see some more support for 3rd party apps.
