well, since we don't know the path of the tracks, we can't authoratively answer that, but since we're only concerned about the closer when they meet, and if we assume a direct line between them(an old teacher of mine called this 'as the crow flies') the one leaving Chicago will be closer.
you could probably do more statistics keeping on the running processes which might allow you to do a better job of predicting what processes are going to need what as far as time shares go.
This would increase the overhead in schedular as far as ram goes, but since we're using a limited number of processes, this wouldn't be as bad.
I believe 50 bazillion translates from 14 year old into 8 in the real world. (No, I don't have any fact to back that 8 up, it was an arbitrary number I pulled from deep within my shoe. I'm saving the prime and irrational numbers for posts where they're worth using)
After having worked in 2 bars and frequented more than can be healthy, I'll say drunks are VERY hard on bar stools, and most bars need to replace them every 1-2 years, if not more often. Most bars figure those into the equipment repair budget every year. There's also the fact that in house bars are a popular item. It'd really only take a place like that 4-6 out the door sales a day to staf afloat. I'd also be less than surprized to find out that that place has either a web store or mail-order catalog which makes up the difference.
there have been success stories of using any old universal remote with the hauppage remote under linux. Also, those cheapie remotes are actually a 'standard' remote that many homebrew products use. They're incredibly cheap, and the buttons on them are 'customizable' in that you can get the case cut to only use 10 or 40 buttons(and some arbitrary numbers in between I'm sure). I have a FlyVideo98 bttv card and I used the remote that came with it for a while, but gave up and built a serial IR receiver and grabbed a sony dvd remote at a flea market for $2. Works great with mythtv.
In the states, it's broadcast power dependant. It's something like 50mW of broadcast power is allowed on any station at any time, without a directional antena, or something similar. I read about this when I was looking into a Neuros.
Same thing happens at my university, order from Dell, shipped w/ OEM license.
well, I know at the university I worked at, they have a policy that they won't sign an order sheet for purchase if it doesn't include an operating system on the pc. we have a site license for most windows products, but still have to get an OS when we buy a new laptop/etc.
or unless you want to have multiple versions of such a program installed.... think gcc 2.9 vs gcc 3.3. Then you always just keep a symlink from somewhere in the path to the one you want.
so have a/etc/X11 link to/etc/X11R6.7 and an/etc/X11R6 folder laying around for fun.

haha, I was thinking the same thing(from pentwater) you hit the disc golf course on the project there?

you can spam me at (p a e r l e y @ y a h o o . c o m)
I'd guess the radio transmitter uses more power than the leds.

I am awestruck with your inability to read the thread.

Lunch remains an expense.
Is that a `there's no such thing as a free lunch` reference or just an accidental bullseye?

I think he something more along the lines of how it does a 'fork' of sorts in the file and the mail program sees multiple objects in 1 file.

Admit it, you just don't understand assembly.
Perhaps that's why he hates it?

eh, it's hardly the speed of light. they're not breaking any laws(physics).

you could even assert that pdf is better due to less people being willing to click a linx to a pdf which would lower http requests even further.
P
and I just got both screens and LIRC working :P
(thus comes the karma burning)
Both these speeds and large capacities will become more and more important as we see better video capabilities come to the PDA market.
Are you in a writing class in college right now? that reads just like a well done thesis statement.
[end somone complimenting someone about grammar on slashdot]
A little late but...
.....
0/2 = 0
and
0/3 = 0
Since everyone else seems to want to talk about the fact that this has already been posted....
CRAP, I don't have anything witty or intelligent to say. I guess I'll go read the article.
P
two isn't a twin prime. 2+2 is 4, which isn't a prime. Or perhaps we need to go the other direction. 2-2 is 0. Nope, no go there.
Haha, how many Hockey fans do you think there are on slashdot? ;)
Dude, it's Mr. Piquepaille. Don't you even TRY to read the parent poster's name?

I recall having a drive that was a 1x cd-reader and rather than a tray or a caddie, the whole drive popped out and opened clam shell style.

it's not a phone silly, it's a pda. at least look at the pictures before posting.
