  1. No shit, Sherlock. The guy used 4 expensive phones to take the video and then left them for strangers to take, but everyone tossed them away. If the guy was a decent engineer he could have made something with a couple raspberry pi's and some camera sensors.

  2. GM CEO Mary Barra said the company is "still hiring people with expertise in software and electric and autonomous vehicles, and many of those who will lose their jobs are now working on conventional cars with internal combustion engines," reports Dallas News. "Barra said the industry is changing rapidly and moving toward electric propulsion, autonomous vehicles and ride-sharing, and GM must adjust with it."

I thought liberals were the "educated" ones, but apparently they can't read? If you're going to be angry about something, at least be angry about something that is true.

  6. SubjectIsSubject on Ask Slashdot: Is It Linux or GNU/Linux? (linuxjournal.com) · · Score: 0

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

IANAL but I would think that considering they've announced very publicly the exact reason they bought this land was to block the wall, it makes it much easier for the government case to take it back.

I'm also finding very odd how they are taking all these political stances for some reason, as if a card game where one of the cards is "two midgets shitting in a bucket" is somehow going to be a rallying point for political dissent. Fools and their money I suppose.

  19. SubjectIsSubject on Facebook's New Captcha Test: 'Upload A Clear Photo of Your Face' (wired.com) · · Score: 1

    May soon? It's already happened.
I just made a new account in September for business use, and before I had time to even put any photos or information in, they locked me out of my account and demanded a photo of my face to verify my identity.
How could that possibly work, when I hadn't even uploaded a picture to compare it to? 3 days later they finally unblocked the account, but then proceeded to do it 4 more time, each taking an extra day to unlock.

There also seems to be more going on, since I edited one of the photos to include the text "stop blocking my f*cking account" and Facebook refused to upload the photo. The site would just idle. Choosing another image, resized but without the text and the same filename did work and I didn't refresh the page or anything.
It's sketchy as hell and I put the absolute bare minimum information I could, with only a couple friends added but I'm sure they still know everything about me anyway.
