So did Morpheus, before they went all evil. Not to be a zealot, but closed source freeware doesn't get installed on my computers as a matter of policy. (I've been burned too many times)
Most web designers design their web pages with IE in mind.
Most web designers couldn't write standards-compliant HTML if their life depended on
it, and rely on WYSIWYG editors like Dreamweaver & Frontpage. That's why web designers should stick to design, and leave implementation up to web developers.
Hmm, gotta agree with the parent on this one. Every time I've been unfortunate enough to need in-depth info MS stuff, their Technet has provided nothing but frustrating half-answers and overly complicated examples. Not that all open technology docs are better, but with MS's money they should be able to do better..
Glad I'm not the only one overly fascinated by printing on the Wlan.. somehow, causing an effect in the real world really makes one appreciate the wireless connection. (another fun trick is to ssh into another machine and do something like $ eject/dev/cdrom && eject -t/dev/cdrom;))
Their binary Linux version has a minor problem too; it set root ownership of the user-specific config directory when installed, making it impossible for that user to run the browser.
To fix the problem, I did a
# chown -R user:user/home/user/.mozilla/firefox/
Right, DirectTV is filing their claims under tort law, not criminal law. DirectTV is not accusing the defendant of necessarily breaking any laws, only that they were harmed as a result of the defendant's action. Remember when OJ was found not guilty at criminal court, then later was found responsible at civil court?
That's another reason defendants in these cases may have been urged to settle: civil trials are held to a much lower standard of proof than criminal trials are. "Guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt", only applies to criminal charges.
Sorry dude, but words in English can have like, you know, two meanings and stuff. Maybe 'web surfing' is not a perfect analogy, but it's entered the common usage and I don't think railing about it's going to change anything.
Ah, one of those fascinating aspects of college I apparently missed, since my school's "student housing" was in public apartments spread throughout the city. Craziest my roomies ever got was using a giant rubber band to propel empty beer bottles out the sliding glass window..;)
An even more annoying trick (which thankfully I haven't noticed lately), is when the music is compressed (sped up), for example turning a 3:40 song into 3:10 so the station can claim, "we play more music than anyone else!". Bastards.
That's no excuse when the idiot DJ jabbers through the first full minute of a song, and yes I have heard them do that, especially if the song in question has a long musical intro..
I'm running FC2 on my PIII-650 laptop, which originally had only 128MB of RAM and was almost unusable due to swapping. After adding another 128MB and disabling some of the "preloading" services it runs quite well, although I notice some strange swap activity when the screen saver is running. (maybe my swap file is too small?) Anyway, on this setup it takes about 10 seconds to load Mozilla, and probably 20 for OpenOffice.org.
Fascinating amount of discussion over this feature. Before I switched to Moz in the pre-1.0 days, I used to use IE in this manner (open new window, and navigate from there). Nowdays that method just seems crude in comparison to tabbed browsing. However, I might want to clone a page in a new window once in a blue moon so I wouldn't mind it as an option. But for how often I need such a feature, it's no trouble to copy the url and paste it manually.
Cloning the browser history: I see no reason to clone the history when opening new tabs; I think that would quickly lead to a mess. Perhaps it would be cool to clone the history on new window though.
A new option to prevent sites from using JavaScript to block the browser's context menu.
Sweet. Few things piss me off more when surfing, than those 2-bit scripts that try to control my alternate mouse buttons. Note to webmasters: if you're worried about people stealing your images, don't put them on the web. Lame Javascript tricks like capturing mousedown events just make me never want to visit your site again (and maybe I'll just disable Javascript and steal your images out of spite).
Oh, so they do have an Amiga version out!
Thanks, I'll be here all week..

I got my RTL8180-based adaptor working with ndiswrapper and the WindowsXP driver. Of course, a native driver would be nice, but it does work..
Overgeneralization
Wow, president Bush reads Slashdot!

Sounds like undue enrichment to me. These guys should get together and file a class action against DirectTV.

I agree. Leasing software is for sucks.
