Ok you're right, the sky is falling, you should store food, buy gold* and dig a shelter:)
It's so cute seeing people such as yourself work themselves up into a tizzy every time there is a Democrat in the White House. Clinton had a good run for job creation, I suspect that Obama will as well. Foreigners like Democratic Presidents and tend to buy more of our 'shit'. Also, only Republican administrations push jobs overseas.
But, by so many people denying it and engaging in wishful thinking, reforms are being delayed, and suffering increased.
Do you want reform that will help society? Vote for a Democrat, start a business, volunteer at a charity, it works a lot better than whining and hand wringing.
Your demographic 'calculations' would also seem to ignore the fact that the baby boomers are hitting retirement (or death). Over the next the largest generation will be leaving their jobs (one way or another). Also there is no such thing as 100% employment, there will always be a certain number of unemployed.
* - actually don't buy gold it's really primed for a big drop.
I predict we'll see continually increasing unemployment (short of massive government intervention in make-work ways).
I predict that people will continue to make bold, unsubstantiated predictions, even after being proved wrong time and time again. I've heard such claims with every economic downturn, it's as predictable as the sunrise. The fact is that the economy has been and will be creating jobs, not a lot right now, but since it suits Republicans to act like the sky is falling, it's taken longer for the economy to pick up than normal. It's called the business cycle, the only thing that always surprises me is that how little faith some people have in the American worker/entrepreneur.
Late every night on TV you find dozens of commercials for 'get rich quick businesses', all of them give testimonials about how quick and easy it was to make money. Do you believe them as well? One should note that they rarely claim to be successful from their efforts directly, just the people who do business with them who make that claim. It's legal cover if they don't claim that they make money themselves. Those other people may lie, but good luck finding them, and they didn't sell you anything (that you can prove in court).
but there are still plenty of people out that who are unaware of what happens out on the wider Internet.
Do you honestly think that there is anyone who has been on the internet longer than a day who's unfamiliar with spam? Sure if there was just one or a hundred pushing such scams, maybe the market could still be fruitful, but there are thousands or more
My postulate is not that there isn't any money in spam, just that the only people making any real money are those who sell services to people willing to 'invest' in such 'businesses'.
I doubt if there is anyone left who thinks that offers of v1gra and riches from Nigerian princes are real opportunities. Can they really still be profitable? I'm sure that botnets and programs are still popular, but do they really generate real profits from unwitting users, or are the only people feeding such enterprises are those who attempt to profit from it. I'm guessing that many if not most of the victims actually know that someone is getting ripped off, but think that it's themselves who will come out ahead.
This move on Craigslist;s part will instead drive the trade farther underground than it already was.
It's not as if Craigslist did anything to make it 'more open' or safer, the worse that could happen is that they'll use some other site to connect to 'clients'.
There are a whole lot more plot lines which need to be quickly developed for episodic TV, it's no wonder that writer of the week had played fast and loose with physics. Sure, The Clone Wars is 'weekly', but it's plot lines are stretched a half an hour at a time across several weeks. Also the Star Wars saga is more of a war set in space than a twisty science fiction story.
Personally, I see it as an apples and oranges thing. You'd be more accurate comparing Star Trek with Dr. Who and Star Wars with Star Ship Troopers (but I wouldn't even want those flame wars!)
Who said that they hadn't sent a C&D letter to them? Chances are that TheFacebook had sent to many others, but the teachers figured that publicity would help their cause, and 'the media' picked up on it. I'd say that they were right to do so, as publicity doesn't get any cheaper. Of course the longer they hold out on the name, the more expensive it could get (lawyers, judgement, etc).
Personally, I don't think that TheFaceBook has much of a case, particularly as 'Phone Book' would seem to be their 'root' concept.
"Even if you are elected President, you would struggle to improve even the slightest thing. Remember Obama? Exactly..
Do you expect easy answers? Do you think that our government is run or should be run by fiat? Obama has done a lot, honestly not as much as I hoped, but I got a lot of hope. However, I don't expect all of my dreams to come true, but it sounds like you do. Good luck with it, life in general chews up people expect miracles for breakfast.
Mostly from my government, I'm just looking for progress, and I'm seeing it these days more often than under Republican leadership. Do I agree with everything, of course not, but I vote and I know why.
I've certainly worked in Java shops using Eclipse where developers routinely broke builds.
Really? Sounds like a carpenter blaming his tools. Where I could build with Eclipse, I've never seen such problems. However, you can set up projects to be Unix only, and that's the reality I work with right now. No problem, I've been working with Linux and Solaris since '97. Still, I use eclipse to write, just as it's a whole lot easier.
Frankly I'm always amazed at the general negativity of some people, wildly slinging out mud, typically at things of which they have little understanding. I like to say that the less that one understands about a critical job related function, the more stress and fear that's created/endured by them.
The day developers can write code that compiles the first time, then yes...
I use an IDE (Eclipse), and the builds I do always compile, so, like, thanks for the access! What I think you mean is that the day when developers can guarantee the expected results...
Personally, I like the QA process, as it gives me 'cover' if something expected happens.
Why not both? Seems to me that a good way to fund such research would be to use it as a numbers station. However, after 20 years one would expect some scholarly work to have been presented referring to the research. Since the tone has recently changed, maybe it represents an abandonment or refinement of a previously unsuccessful test.
If USG actually worked like a business, the President would have the power to sack anyone and reform anything in order to make things better
If you understood history half as well as I'm sure that you claim to, you'd understand that there once was a time when 'the spoils system' ruled our government. Perhaps you'd like to go back to it, but I wouldn't.
So, Democrat, republican, who the hell cares?
Just another sad excuse by someone who doesn't want to take any responsibility. A couple of hours of earnest research is all that is needed to make an informed vote, really, it isn't hard.
It really is time for some new blood in Washington.
Oddly, I hear that same message on the news every election cycle (Particularly loudly when Democrats are in power).
Instead of just repeating slogans and talking points, why don't you take a look at the positions of each of the candidates who are available (and have a reasonable shot) and then make an informed decision.
if you have a business, do you just blindly hire someone til it seems right?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078446/
I ran across it on an HD movie channel, and though that the various live location shots of the 1970's was more interesting than the movie.
The standard deduction/ itemization is not about business income. If you had a business income you should be filing a schedule C (federal, not sure about state). Please consult a tax attorney for you own sake, obviously you don't know what you are talking about and it is costing you money.
If she (or her tax accountant) had a scrap of good common sense she would 'write-off' her expenses, at least to the 'break-even' point. Otherwise she'd just be giving the government money for which they didn't ask.
It also looks like she only made like $50 between several years
Yea, once she's done writing off all of her 'business expenses', website expenses, home office, computer equipment, (maybe even) a second car, travel & entertainment, etc. Just because you don't make any money, it doesn't mean that you aren't running a business.
Of course $300 sounds like a rather high price for a business license, particularly for an enterprise which might not take in more than $20,000/ year. Seems to me that Philly would be well advised to graduate it based on revenue and/or claimed expenses.
Actually, I was thinking that reason for deploying such a system would be the lack of down-range damage from falling 20mm shells. As all that lead needs to come down somewhere, coastal towns and nearby ships could easily be damaged by it.
Most computer viruses rely on someone to install it, it doesn't mean that they aren't something to worry about. Also, while I'd have more confidence applications which are already popular, wide distribution is no sure indicator of 'clean code' (free from virus and stable).
Art only becomes idolatry when one feels that it has some special representation. Pledging to kill the creator of an image is in fact proof of worshiping it.

Given that robotics and computing continue to progress?
When the steam shovel appeared there were those that claimed that armies of the unemployed would follow.
Business cycles do exist, but this overall trend goes far beyond them...
Dude, you have no clue.
I predict we'll see continually increasing unemployment (short of massive government intervention in make-work ways).

What's this 'CD' thing of which you speak? The last thing to go into my DVD burner was my OS installation disk.

You give me $1 a frame, and I'll give you a 190 minute 'movie'.
It's either an interesting way to finance a low budget movie, or a scam, and might be both.
That's like telling a starving man that he shouldn't eat so much, less he have a tummy ache.
