What has China done? Nothing. No innovation in the last 1000 years. They're real good at stealing designs of other nations...figures they have no laws about intellectual property...that nation seems rather bankrupt in the 'new idea' dept.
So what exactly are they good for except working for nothing to give other nations the goods they want?

I gotta roll my eyes...the sheep are squealing, led by the glowing pictures of news anchors. Gas prices are not that high...they've been much higher historicaly. If a few cents a gallon is making such a huge impact, you are LIVING BEYOND YOUR MEANS...and you'll get fucked eventually.
In China, the people can't do much w/o the gov'ts help...that's the way communism works. In the USA you can get a better job, move, whatever. People in the USA can take care of themselves, people in china don't have that luxury.
Every field of empliy goes through changes...the music creation industry is going through one now. Maybe Books will be next. Besides, in the future computer will compose our cool jazz!
Thankfully nobody is calling for the USA to switch over in the name of progress. For some things, the cost outweighs the benefits of standards compliance...I think this is one.
Logic fails when people want something for free. Not only are the blogs worthless boring drivel, but the people spewing obivously knw it because they aren't willing to pay to have their thoughts read by the internet!
If every iraqi in the country has to stripped down and told to spank it so that violence can be stopped, a representative gov't put into place, and American troops the fuck out of there (where they shouldn't have been sent in the first place) I'm all for it.

I mean, I can only see the purchase of iTunes music files dropping as the price rises. WHat happens to the DRM? Will you be unable to use the files you paid for?

In my scenario, nobody could get my modified source! I take the work of Linux developers, add some stuff, and profit off of it. In a world without IP law, I could do that legally.
OK, get rid of IP laws. You know what I'm gonna do? DL a Linux ditribution, change stuff to make it appear to be mine....and sell it as an embedded OS in an electronic device!
I mean, maybe if yo uwork for a tiny little company with no users...but scaling Perl and MySQL to scale to 100's of 1000's of users? Perl's for parsing logfiles, better to use a purpose built tool.
