I have had an internship with a pretty prestigious firm for the past 3 years (During college.) I have been searching for a job for several months down, a few bites, but nothing solid. I have a hearing impairment as well, computers/programming are something I have always had a passion for. Sure, it's taking a while to find a job, but by God, I WILL find one. It all just requires finding the right company at the right time. I think that our internship experience really does set us aside from the rest. That's just me though.
Modems are cumbersome. If I am at work and I need to make a phone call using the relay, simply opening up a web-browser is by far the easiest way.
Not really sure how an authentication system work. One way I guess, would to have the users actually mail in documentation certifying that they are indeed deaf.
...I think that George Lucas wanted to show the fans that they were indeed actually going to be released. Still, I'll believe it when I see it on store shelves.
The Master drive can now become the "Pimp" drive, and the secondary drive can be the "Ho" drive. We can also have a Secondary "Pimp" and secondary "Ho."
Is a cock. Why the hell has he waited so long to release the original DVDs of the movies that made him a demi-God to the geeks?
I know that there was a laser-disc edition released a while-back. Was he waiting for the DVD standard to die??
George Lucas has really made me a sad geek with his last two Starwars episodes. I think for a lot of people when I say that they should never have been made.
I don't understand what all of this hullaballoo about "legal" music vending methods is.
I mean, it is nice that we can now download music at the behest of our checking (or credit card) accounts. On the other hand, the majority of consumers are still in the mindset of "try before you buy." For ten bucks an album, I want some damn liner notes. Do any of these services provide them online? I don't think they do.
I strongly feel that 10.00 for a bunch of digital bytes, and without any liner notes is an astrociously high price. The company's only real expense for the distribution is the bandwidth. They should adjust the prices accordingly. Now, I do understand that the labels get a cut of the proceeds, I really think they need to revise how big of a cut they get for something that is not physical...especially if they want to be on top of the game.
Again, I know I am kind of ranting here, but I think that all of these music-service startups is like a bad dream. It reminds me of the "DotCom" bubble in the sense that only the services that provide THE BEST experience will survive. Read: Apple.
Napster's old reputation precedes its new offering. So, with that kind of stigma, most people that want to legally get music probably won't want to be associated with a name that has had a bad reputation in the past.
I think that all 6th graders having laptops, WITH wireless acccess is a bad idea. While a laptop is a great tool, I fail to see how it would fit in with 6th grade curriculum. 6th graders have a hard enough time sitting still and doing their work without a toy thrown into the mix.
In some of my old CS classes, I remember COLLEGE students playing games or watching movies during the lectures. I can forsee a similar problem with the younguns.
What OS? It should probably be "Schoolnix".. a custom distribution of some sort that allows the school to lock-down / prevent access to games and non-educational websites during school hours. The school did pay for the hardware after all.
I actually prefer the official Windows clients to the all-services-in-one packages. Memory is really not an issue these days either, considering how cheap it is.
But yeah, it's their service that they freely offer, they are logically allowed to control who accesses it. I do not disagree at all.
I recently did a project that was about Salvador Dali. What a great surrealist!
Here is a link for any interested in browsing some of the pieces hosted by the Dali Museum.

... video games and computer games have done nothing to improve my hearing. In fact, they helped me to tune out my mother's nagging effectively as a child. Did it help to make selective hearing better?
Quit your job and start working for free if you don't work for money.

I live in a 1400 square foot apartment for 900/mo.
I am married, and food for me AND my wife costs about 250 a month. Are you a big eater or something?
Entertainment? I read Slashdot and code, and of course download my entertainment don't you?
Vacations are overrated when you can earn money!
Yeah, the economy sucks. I DO work hard for the company that I work for, as the job sector in my area is VERY fleeting.

We are a very materialistic nation -- the majority of us work to buy the things we want. The countries that take a lot of vacation days are generally the countries where the latest SUV and 5 bedroom house is not a necessity. Here in America, we need our... STUFF!
Even with that said, America ranks up there with Japan and China (both very large countries surrounded by technology...)
Japan 10 days China 15 days U.S. 0 days
Besides, we go to work and read Slashdot -- the same thing generally happens during a 'vacation' day. May as well make money while you reload?
...food, beer, good company and fun games make a LAN party successful.
Fitting Slashdot article since I am having a Friday - Sunday LAN party on June 20th.
Networking computers together is a piece of cake provided that nobody is running an old version of Windows (or Linux?)
Having a few consoles set up such as an Xbox, PS2, or Gamecube are also good for the people that don't have top notch computer rigs for some of the newer games. Movies are good to have playing in the background (Matrix 2 Uber Leet downloaded version, Lord of the Rings, Spiderman or whatever.)
Food staples are a must have since most geeks get hungry. Also, most geeks carry a geek pouch, which means food ist good. I say beer because after a few brews you are more likely to want to get some sleep before 6 a.m. if you haven't already passed out from intoxication. Games are also more fun with beer.
Why is sleep good? Well, so you don't keel over like those freaks over in Korea that stay up for days playing Counterstrike.
This is a GooD Thing(TM) -- since MS will be rolling all updates into a single update without exposing the flaw itself. Well, at least not until a later date.
This may provide temporary security, but it is by no means an excuse for a lazyassed system admin/IT professional, or whatever.
....now Microsoft is making deals with Universities for students to soley use their software and follow the Microsoft way of life.
Oh, wait!
O_o

Problem Solved.
Most geeks can't afford something like this -- but terrorists can. I wonder what the shipping is to Iraq or Afghanistan.
Is Paypal accepted?

Whatever.
I trust the "fake identity" functionality about as far as I can throw my system. I personally don't share.
I reload Slashdot for that squirt of Euphoria, much like the dosage-button doses out morphine for people in the hospital.
More! More! More! More!

Wow! I used to live in Grand Haven, MI. I went to Fairy Elementary ... do you ever hit Ray's Hamburgers up or Paf's?

That cluster is going to have some SERIOUS power. Hello SETI? I'm surprised that a movie company has a more powerful computer than the guvment'.
Figures.
