> There is NO way to (physically) hurt the computer with software.
Well, no, that's not really true. You can permanently damage a monitor by trying to drive it to scan frequencies it's not capable of. (Some of the flyback transformer's failure modes can be pretty darn spectacular, too) Irremediably corrupting your BIOS may not be physical damage, but it might as well be. It is very difficult to hurt the computer physically with software; that I'll give you.
In case you don't know, Minesweeper doesn't lay out the mines until *after* you make your first pick, and won't put a mine where you made that pick, to avoid the "unfairness" of losing on your first move. So a board with only one clear square cannot be lost. You make your pick, Minesweeper puts mines on all the other squares, you win. Every time. Actually, you can't do it any more. On an m by n board, recent editions of Minesweeper won't let you have more than (m-1)*(n-1) bombs. But it's still true that you can't die on your first pick. (Some non-Microsoft Minesweeper clones don't implement this, though)
> If you sell short and they get delisted what happens?
The shares don't disappear because they get delisted. They continue to exist, and they even continue to trade. They just don't trade on NASDAQ; they trade only over-the-counter. This will tend to lead to a sharp decline in the price of the stock. You'll likely make a nice profit out of that short.
Well, with DDR it's hand-*foot* coordination, but it's the same principle. And there's more tactics to DDR than a lot of people realize; in the two player, maybe even some strategy in song selection.
> I don't recall any mention of gnomes in Middle Earth, though.
Some of Tolkien's early writing refers to the Noldor as "gnomes", but that was dropped early on (wisely, I think, since the Noldor are scarcely gnome-like).
Hmm. I have seen a very few posts, mostly garbled to the point of incomprehensibility, but never in any numbers. Maybe they just didn't tend to come to the froups I post to.

WebTVers are indeed a form of life below AOL. Fortunately, this means that posting to Usenet at all is beyond the vast majority of them. AOLers are more annoying because they are as dumb as it is possible to be and still be able to post to a newsgroup.
Below college level, textbooks are generally purchased by, and written by, committee. 'Nuff said. College textbooks suffer less from this malady, but aren't completely free of it.

Bull. Hitler was certainly trying to get nukes, but it wasn't going well. He wasn't anywhere near having them. Hitler would've been the one *getting* nuked; the Manhattan Project for most of its lifetime assumed its result would be used on Germany, not Japan.
> sherman against panther ? oh dear...
If Russia had folded, we probably wouldn't have invaded until '45. Pershing against Panther is a considerably better matchup. Plus the air supremacy which kept the Panthers in '44 from being any match for the inferior Shermans. If Russia had folded, it would've been maybe two years longer, and MUCH bloodier. But we still would've won. Even in winning in Russia, the Germans would've left much of their strength buried on the steppes.
> Germany tried to liquidate france twice, didn't really get close.
"Didn't get close"? Hell, the first time, they came within sight of Paris. Twice. The second push would've made it if we hadn't provided the troops to hold 'em off. The second time they succeeded and we had to come in and give them their country back, for which they have never forgiven us.

Nah, GTA isn't racist. You can off people no matter *where* they're from.

They're going to hear that you're too stupid or inconsiderate to put your phone on vibrate during a meeting, that's what they're going to hear.

No, D&D causes people to murder each other with demonic curses. Don't you read the Chick booklets?
