    Nothing is getting through email filters in the same quantity as in the past.

    It's getting pointless to send anything from an account that isn't Gmail. And if filters aren't bad enough, most people I know out in meatspace don't respond to anything that isn't sent through Facebook. I feel like email is already dead except for the corporate world.

    Not enough, damned expert's exchange! I had to download a grease monkey script and everything, seriously screw those guys.

    If you set your user-agent to the Google Bot, you can see the actual page from expertsexchange.com.

    When a site feeds a different page to the bot than to a user, it should be black listed entirely from results.

    I bought a cheap Blu-Ray player at Best Buy that does streaming Netflix, Pandora, Blockbuster, and Youtube(?), for like $50. Also Blu-ray, DVD, CD, MP3 CD, or anything on a USB drive.

    And my wife has no problems using it, unlike the Linux based media player that it replaced. I know I'm drinking the cool aid with a name brand proprietary device that supports HDCP, MPAA, RIAA, and WTF, but when she pushes the play button, it starts working. When she's happy, I'm happy.

    Bullshit. I was writing and printing my homework assignments from a Mac before Windows 3.1 even came out (I was 8 at the time). Later on I also bought a cheap printer for my Amiga ...

    Geeks like us would have written papers using punched cards if that what it took. Normal average people would not be using computers for every day tasks without Windows.

    Then again, there's not too much to admire about Bill Gates if you consider that the damage he's done with Windows may outstrip the philanthropic work he's done. I wonder how many homework assignments/theses etc have been lost to BSODs, and how much money people have lost to malware and zombie-assisted spam scams, etc.

    Most normal people would probably have written their homework assignments and thesis on typewriters if it wasn't for Bill Gates. Dislike him and his product all you want, but computers would not be a mainstream household appliance today if it wasn't for Microsoft Windows.

    Seriously. Gates is the only one on the list that isn't a political or religious figure. The drop off in percentages is striking as well. Here's the list:

    I've got news for you, but Glen Beck is not a political figure. He holds no public office. Nobody's voted for him. He is a talk show host. And he's not nearly as popular as he seems to think he is. I'm a crazy right wing nut job and I can't stand him.

    An employer needs to secure their network, and that includes all devices connected to the network. ALL OF THEM.

    I hear this all the time, but if the network is so delicate that a random machine can cause a problem, then there is a problem with the network.

    That's the Constitution of the United States. Not that it's followed much anymore, but I'm really disappointed that he's not being tried for the crime of treason. Instead of a couple of years in Club Fed with three meals a day, he should be convicted and hanged.

    four months into the two-year contracts, they pull that unlimited rug out from under and substitute a paper placemat with puzzles on the back.

    They can't hold you to a contract if they've substantially changed the terms. If they did eliminate unlimited plans, they'd have to release your obligation or grandfather your unlimited service. That's basic contract law.

    Read the Rendezvous With Rama series books from Arthur C. Clarke. In one of the later books, people of the Earth are asked to volunteer for a large one-way mission. Not enough people volunteer so they tap prisons to make up the difference. It doesn't end well.

    I think the hepatitis vacinne is the most dangerous of the common vaccines now, and it just gives you joint-pain for a few days if you are unlucky.

    China's power is there is no individual, there is only the state. Need a new bridge? Seize houses. New factory? Take land. We need to realize what we are up against and adjust our outdated ideals about business.

    How long can China realistically keep that up? Manufacturing in the U.S. is so damned expensive because you can't just dump your industrial waste into the nearby stream. China is enjoying a 1st world economy with 3rd world living conditions. It'll catch up with them eventually.
